Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Prodigy

Raven shook his head. He had heard a lot about Arthur in his childhood. He was a legendary figure in Camelot that led to the establishment of this Kingdom, killing his way to the top.

For most people, Arthur was a wise leader who rarely showed up. However, as Raven was born in a Duke's House, he was privy to more information. In reality, Arthur was a very impulsive person.

Although Arthur was intelligent, he often let his impulses take over. He was also said to be a battle maniac who was either training or looking for people to challenge. It was highly unlikely for that man to be here. But still, the possibility couldn't be completely ignored.

He told Leira and Zephyr to simply ignore Arthur's son for now, as this had nothing to do with them. They were entering a different part of the train after all.

Raven tore the pages in which he had written, handing them to Zephyr who burned the pages after reading, leaving nothing behind.

The Knights had filled the entire station. The moment the train stopped, the Knights entered every single coach, as if checking to make sure there was nothing suspicious or dangerous.

Out on the station, Uther scratched the back of his head, feeling frustrated. "Can you not be that serious? No one is going to kill me!"

He didn't even wait for the checking to be finished before stepping inside the coach that was right behind the one in which Raven was sitting.

He was greeted by Count Atlan who was waiting there for him.

"Looks like my father dragged you into this as well." Seeing Atlan, Uther sighed. "I told Father that I don't need such security. I can protect myself! Yet he just doesn't understand me."

"It's just because he's worried about you." Atlan led Uther, telling him to take any seat he preferred. This entire section was kept just for him.

Even after the check was completed, the Royal Knights didn't leave the coaches. At least one Knight stayed behind in every single coach, while the rest returned to join up with Uther.

The entire train was turned into a militarised safe zone, ensuring the utmost security for Uther. It was a precautionary measure taken by the Royal Knights to protect him from any potential threats as none wanted to face Arthur's wrath if something happened to his son.

Once Uther was seated, the train began moving again, gliding through the serene countryside. The Royal Knights maintained a vigilant watch, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger.

Throughout the rest of the journey, Raven remained on his seat, just observing the scenery changing through the window.

Camelot was a vast Kingdom that had a vast topography, ranging from lush forests to rolling hills and majestic rivers.

As the train traversed the landscapes, Raven couldn't help but feel a sense of appreciation for the beauty that surrounded them. Throughout his childhood, he had been locked inside a single room, only reading about this beauty through the servants' lips.

In his childhood, he always wanted to see the beauty of Camelot. But now that he was finally seeing it, nothing was the same. He wasn't the same person anymore.

Although that small child still lived within him, for the most part, he felt that the child had long been killed. All that was left was this empty vessel, running on an obsession to finish what he started.

Along the way, the train stopped at various major cities. Through the various stops, many youngsters had entered the train, all accompanied by their own Knights, showing that they belonged to the Nobility. However, none of those youngsters had even close to as many Knights as Uther.

Uther was accompanied by over fifty Royal Knights. While the other noble children could only bring two Knights from their family. Moreover, even the weakest Knight under Uther was multiple times stronger than the Knights trained under various Noble Families.

After two days passed, Raven saw the first sign of snowfall outside. The temperature had started decreasing, reminding him that they were getting close to their final destination.

They were entering the Ashborn Duchy, which was known for its snowy landscape. This was also the place where he was born. It was a Duchy administered by Duke Ashborn, his father.

Most people would've felt pride being connected to such a prosperous noble family, but none knew the reality of this family.

"We will soon be entering the main city of Ashborn Duchy. This will be the last stop before our destination. If I'm not wrong, within half a day, we'll be at our final destination," Leira commented after checking the map.

"Ashborn Duchy?" Zephyr asked, remembering the importance of this name.

He carefully glanced at Raven who showed no reaction to that name, as if he had long forgotten about it.

....

Uther woke up from his sleep, feeling slightly cold. He looked out the window.

"Are we already in Ashborn?"

"We are," Count Atlan answered.

"Looks like it won't be long then." Uther smiled, stretching his arms. "I heard Duke Asher's youngest son will also be coming? I also heard that he's quite talented. What do you think about this?"

"I have seen him once. He's certainly quite talented, maybe the most talented out of everyone I've seen," Atlan answered with complete seriousness. "Many from the Round Table have been paying attention to him."

"Hahaha, the most talented person you've seen?" Hearing Atlan's praise, Uther couldn't help but laugh. "More than me?"

"I haven't seen you swing a sword yet, so I'm afraid I'm in no position to give my opinion. But looking at your father, I doubt you would be lacking in the talent department."

"Tsk, what a diplomatic answer." Uther rolled his eyes. "You're as boring as Uncle Merlin."

"I will take that as a compliment." Atlan smiled. Being compared to Great Sage Merlin was an achievement in itself, no matter for which reason.

"Anyway, the Asher Family seems to be on the rise. Their Eldest has already become a Candidate for the Round Table, just like you. And now their youngest is also showing the signs of being a genius," Uther commented, looking forward to seeing the boy who had been making a name for himself everywhere.

"What a pity that their second child died at the time of birth. If not, he would've had quite a few achievements of his own," he mumbled, looking at the falling snow in the distance.
