System

Klein's mind raced as he tried to piece together the puzzling reality he found himself in. He turned inward, seeking answers from the ever-present system.

"System," he began, his voice tinged with frustration, "can you tell me about the entities influencing and watching me? What's going on?"

[Ding... It will cost 500 Heavenly Dao points for information on the entity influencing the host, and 200 for information on the entity watching the host.]

Klein sighed deeply, rubbing his temples. "Points, points, points. Always with the points," he muttered. "Fine. Let's put that aside for now."

Determined to get a grip on his situation, Klein decided to start with the basics. After obtaining the necessary Mr. Coins, he made his way to a nearby public bathroom to wash away the bloodstain on his head. The moonlight filtered through the window, casting a pale glow that seemed to highlight his every move. Standing in front of the washstand, he turned the tap, letting the cool water flow over his hands as he gathered his thoughts.

As the water flowed down the drain, his mind wandered to his eccentric landlord, Franke. Franke, a peculiar man with a top hat, inner vest, and black jacket, had an unusual habit. Since water was included in the monthly rent, Franke would make regular visits to various toilets in the building, listening intently to the sound of the taps.

If the taps made a louder noise than usual, Mr. Franke would abandon his gentlemanly demeanor. He would angrily brandish his cane, pound on the bathroom door, and shout phrases like, "You thief!" "Wasting water is disgraceful!" "I remember you!" "Show me the evidence and remove your filthy belongings!" "Believe me, this is the most affordable apartment in Fullington, and you won't find a more generous landlord than me."

Regaining his composure, Klein dampened a towel and gently wiped the blood from his face. He cautiously examined his reflection in the shattered mirror, relieved to find only minor wounds. Taking off his linen shirt, he used soap to scrub away the stubborn bloodstains.

However, a nagging concern lingered in his mind. He realized that traces of his injury might still be present in his room. After a few minutes, Klein finished cleaning his shirt and grabbed a wet towel before returning to his apartment. He first wiped away the bloody handprint on the desk, relying on the gas light to search for any other remnants.

To his dismay, he discovered a significant amount of blood splattered on the floor beneath the desk. Additionally, a yellow bullet caught his attention on the left side of the wall. As he pieced together the clues, Klein began to form a grim hypothesis about his demise.

With great care, he wiped away the bloodstains, then retrieved the bullet and returned to the desk. Opening the revolver to the left, he emptied the bullet from the chamber. The five rounds and cartridge shell gleamed with a brass luster.

"Indeed..." Klein murmured, nodding as he examined the empty shell before reloading the rounds into the cylinder. His gaze then shifted to the left, where his eyes fell upon the words written in his notebook: "Everyone will die, including me." This revelation only deepened his sense of intrigue and raised more questions in his mind.

"System," Klein said, turning his attention back to the enigmatic presence within him, "I haven't received any starter pack or special abilities. Is there something I'm missing?"

[Ding... Congratulations, host. You have received a mission.]

"A mission, huh?" Klein echoed, his curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

[Mission: Perform the luck enhancement ritual. Reward: Supreme starter pack. Punishment: None.]

Klein was taken aback when the system mentioned the "luck enhancement ritual." He couldn't help but wonder if it was because of this ritual that he had been transported to this world. Determined to find a way back to Earth, Klein made up his mind to try the luck enhancement ritual the next day.

As he continued to gaze out the window, the red moon sank below the horizon, replaced by a golden glow in the east. The beauty of the moment was interrupted by a commotion inside the apartment.

Klein knew that Melissa, his younger sister, was awake and approaching his door. He smiled, grateful for her punctuality and the comfort her presence brought him, even in the midst of his current predicament.

However, he quickly realized that he needed to hide certain things before Melissa entered. He pressed his temple, feeling the wound on his head, and hurriedly opened a desk drawer. He tossed the revolver inside and closed the drawer, hoping to conceal any potential danger.
