Chapter 5: Chapter 4 : The people in the silent town

Shu walked in the town that seemed to be inhabited by ghosts, it was a small town spanning several square kilometres wide that held several thousands inhabitant, there were numerous houses spreading in it. They were separated by the different roads and streets in an orderly manner, but the whole place was giving a desolate feeling right now. The streets that should have had a bustling crowd on them were now completely empty, the houses left on their own.

The kid went to the first house nearby walking with dragging steps, he was feeling exhausted from the run in the wilderness and the bloody starches on his back were beginning to grow numb. As he entered the courtyard of the house, he saw a stone well outside, there was a wooden bucket attached to a rope beside it; he walked to the well and looked from above it, he saw that it wasn't dried up, so he proceeded to draw water from it with the bucket.

As he took the bucket full of water from the mouth of the well, he raised it above his shoulder and poured the water on his back. The water was icy cold making him grasp:

"Shhh. This is really cold, it's fortunate that it's the summer now, if it was in the winter, I would have ended in a more severe state ."

He put the bucket down and walked to the front of the house while being drenched, then he went through the house's door entering the living room. There were traces of the hurry at which the ones who owned the place must have left, the room was in a complet disorder with chairs falling on the ground and pots and bowls were strewn all over the table, he ignored the mess and walked in the kitchen that was seen across from here.

He found some hard bread and dried meat in the kitchen that he brought with him with a pot of water as he went to the bedroom upstairs. When he got here, he took off his rag like cloths with traces of dried blood on the back showing a skinny frame, the cold water he poured on the injuries on his back stopped the inflammation but it wouldn't help if he had an infection, for that he could only hope that the medicine he had on him would do the work. He took out the vial and opened it , it was containing some powder that smelled like herb; he poured the containt on the wounds provoking an intense pain but he managed to hold the scream back. Several minutes later, the pain began to reced so he put on the cloths he found in the bedroom, it was overweight for him but there wasn't anything he could do about it.

His stomach began to growl reminding him of his hunger, he began to eat the dried meat and bread he took from the kitchen, it was tasting better than he thought, prompting him to eat faster, the amount was enough to satiate him and he drank some water from the pot to finish his meal. His eyes began to grow drowsy as his nerve relaxed, the tiredness caught up to him. The kid fell asleep on the bed lying on his face, he was finally earning a moment of respite.

...…...

At the same time that Shu was falling asleep, several figures appeared one after the other before the entrance of the town, they looked in a sorry state as they walked in with exhausted steps, they were those other cautious people who were wary of the weasel's motive and managed to reacts quickly, escaping from the attack of the ferocious dark wolves, there were mostly adults but some children were mixed in, most of them were uninjured just full of fatigue from the escape.

Looking at the abandoned town before them, the adults began to head to the houses nearby to look if there were some foods or water there, the children also scurried to some place to find way for themselves spreading in the town.

A thin man that seemed malnourished tried to enter the house where Shu was in, but the door was locked prompting him to give up and go somewhere else instead. Most of the houses in the outer area seemed to be less appealing so few people went to look in them, they were going for the onesin the center of the town instead.

As the hours passed by, more and more people appeared in the town, but the one that showed up later were covered in injuries with more blood on their clothes, they were the one who ran away admist the bloodbath; the wolves may have been extremely aggressive in their assault, but they wouldn't be able to take down the whole crowd in such a wide area. Even so, less than half of them managed to get away alive and go to the town. Their faces were full of fear and numbness as they wandered in the town to find a place without any new owner already. The silent town began to regain some liveliness as the slum dwellers began to spread in there, but the dark feeling looming over was still here.

....

When the new morning came, Shu began to wake up from his slumber, he had slept for an entire day showing the amount of fatigue that he held for. The kid walked out of the bed with some difficulties, he remarked that the pain he felt on his back Has reduced a lot, but it was still hard to make some movement, but this was not the moment to sleep here, he never forgot that the crisis was only coming closer and time wasn't on his side. He took everything of worth on him and walked out of the bedroom. He went to the kitchen to get something to eat, but there was only a loath of bread and a pound of dried meat left, he took them and began to wolf down as he walked out of the house.

He began to mutter as he walked out of the gate:

"I should go find enough foods and water then get out of this place as soon as possible."

Outside, he saw that the town wasn't deserted anymore, there were some children breaking the windows of the house nearby before jumping in deftly, other went from the front door since it was opened. At the rate they were raiding them, it wouldn't take several hours before the whole area would be completely vandalized. Shu began to hurry up to find the necessary supplies, since at this rate he wouldn't get anything before everything was gone.

...…..

While the new residents in the town were trying to get some rest and heal their wounds, they didn't know that dozen of kilometers away from there, on the ruin where the slum where they lived before was; a terrifying fight was happening.

'Slash, Crash' Several flashes of light were flying around crisscrossing colliding against each other in the sky, bringing louds sound and huge shock waves.

'Shriek'From time to time, a storm of red fire appeared in the sky, blazing with so much heat it burned the area bellow, leaving only a scorched earth; it transformed into a gigantic incandescent fire bird that attacked everything nearby flapping its wings while giving a loud cry.

In response to it, several waves of water and ices shields formed to counter it, but they didn't last long before getting vaporized.

'Slash' From behind the shield, several huge swords made of lights rushed at it trying to counterattack it but it seemed to be to no avail.

The fight continued for a while as more and more flashes of light dropped to the ground leaving some scorched corpse behind. Soon, most of the flashes in the sky dropped down on the ground, there were only five of them left in the sky, the other four that surrounded the fifth one were already dimming considerably showing their weakness while the one surrounded by them seemed to be as bright as ever.

The scene looked like it was in a standstill when one of the four lights suddenly began to speed away from the scene, it was running away to the wilderness while leaving the other three behind.

"Bastard!" The curse came from the other three, their light began to give unstable fluctuations.

'Flash' A strike of white lightning shot out from the bright light reaching the one running away in a flash, there was a cloud of smoke coming from it and causing it to dime even further, but it continued to escape in the distance. The bright light ignored it then closed on the other three at a fast speed, the three light them began to expand quickly to welcome the assault. Half an hour later, a blinding light shone above the ruin before a huge explosion followed, there wasn't any trace of the slum where Shu and the other lived before.
