Chapter 284: Chapter 284

His aura gradually changed from gentle steam to liquid flame. The transition was quiet. His power climbed to the level of High-Supreme Class without a single splash.

Ta ..Ta ..Ta ..Ta ..Ta ..Ta

With a power-level far surpassing Atid, Igor stopped in front of him. His gaze gold like lava met Atid's head on. There was not an ounce of fear within them.

"I will fight you."

FUUUUUUUSH!

.

|DxD|

.

For the first time since his arrival, Igor made his power known. His power completely eclipsed Atid's by a very, very wide margin. They were both at the realm of High-Supreme Class, but the discrepancy in their power-levels was clearly visible.

Atid was bigger than Igor by quite a margin. His current imposing form made him look a good three years older than Igor, yet he couldn't help but feel considerably small in front of his rival's power.

"..."

Still, Atid didn't show fear. Rather, he sighed in realisation.

"You really were holding back."

It was a statement, not a question. The power Igor showed had increased compared to last month, but there was no denying this was the same power his father and Sun Wukong told him about.

It irked him how Igor didn't reveal it during their last fight, and it angered him further when he realised he still couldn't catch up.

*Clenches Fists!*

"[ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND!]"

Atid wasn't about to be outdone. His power quickly scaled to meet Igor's. But at this level, increasing his power multiple times in a row already relied on him using his lifespan.

"Igor! Why did you hold back!?"

Before he pummeled his rival into the ground and proved who's stronger, he wanted to know…to know why he humiliated him by hiding his strength.

"Today I fight not only for myself, but for my teacher's name."

Compared to Atid's budding outburst, Igor maintained an unparalleled calmness. He was not afraid of Atid's imposing figure or the massive wings that could slam down on him like massive iron blankets.

"..."

Igor's words were short and concise, but they answered everything. For a moment, Atid's rising anger was doused by a bucket of appreciativeness.

"I understand. Then let us fight well, brother."

"Yes. Let's."

A silence stilled between them. The distance between them was barely the size of a door. Everyone was filled with anticipation. Any moment now, a new momentous clash could occur, and everyone wanted to feast their eyes on it.

"..."

"..."

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Their movements were too quick--no, they couldn't even be seen! The explosion from their clash released a giant dome of white light that blinded everyone's sight.

Solid gravel was torn from the ground like mud. The explosive force from one singular clash was like the descent of an asteroid. No one could believe it. A mere clash caused such a commotion…it was amazing.

Whuuuuuuu…

When the light faded, it was revealed to be Atid who had launched the first strike…and it was blocked. His fist was firmly caught in Igor's grasp. Remnants of smoke and steam could still be seen wafting from his grasp.

Skid marks stretching a few metres were on the ground. The impact caused Igor to slide on the gravel, but he suffered no damage.

His aura cloak still fluctuated gently without any hiccups.

"..."

Igor was silent, but his casual expression exposed his thoughts.

'Was that everything?'

Atid looked imposing, but Igor's might made him seem diminutive.

"Hmph! RAAAAAA!"

Ka…DRUUUU!

An emerald blast wave shot out of his mouth, but Igor twisted his body to avoid it. Atid tried to correct his aim, but a swift palm strike to his chin shut him up.

Gu!

"Puargh!"

Atid was momentarily dazed. He was forced to swallow the energy down his throat, but he instinctively brought his wings with the intent to pierce Igor with the claws on the side.

*GRAB!*

Igor's perception wasn't for decoration. Atid's wings closed in on him like a bear trap, but he swiftly grabbed the bony joints, stopping them in their place.

*CRACK!*

He was ruthless. His grip was so tight he cracked the scales and fractured the bone inside. In one movement, he jumped up and landed a powerful dropkick on his rival's chest.

Gu!

The kick sent Atid skidding back by a few metres. He covered his chest with his hand with a low groan of pain. He felt pain not from the kick, but from the vile energy that threatened to tear him from the inside, an energy he was immensely familiar with.

"Heh~. To think you'd easily get past my defences…"

From the beginning, Igor wasn't affected by his lightning and his attack passed right through his scales. It was completely incomprehensi-

Tswii!

"Shut up and fight."

BOOOOM!

A descending axe kick to the head quickly reset Atid's hard drive. Igor was in no mood for pleasantries during a fight. His kick nearly made Atid kiss the ground, but the deva quickly halted himself from falling and used his powerful wings and leg muscles to jump back…

Su!

…just in time to avoid receiving the dangerous swirling orb in Igor's hand.

Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu Zu…*Vanish!*

Igor let the orb dissipate and prepared himself to meet Atid's attack once more. His perception crucially analysed every single fluctuation, every single twitch, and every single fire of Atid's nerves.

The moment Atid made a move, he could almost accurately gauge the trajectory of his attacks, like the incoming uppercut disguised as a haymaker.

Su!

Still, just because he could predict the attacks didn't mean he could easily counter. For all it was worth, Atid was really, really, FAST.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Their forms disappeared into barely discernible flickers of light.

"[ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND! ASCEND!]"

Igor had to rely more on predicting and dodging in order to fight against Atid. He remained ever-so calm even when he seemed to be on the backfoot. Logically, perception meant nothing in front of overwhelming speed, and Atid did have overwhelming speed.

His ability to not only move very quickly, but instantly change direction was very impressive. Half the time, Igor had to use his Instant Vanish to avoid some of the more unpredictable strikes Atid could come up with.

Highly intense manoeuvres that could break bones were normal for Atid. His onslaught kept Igor on the defensive meant sooner or later, he'd break through the blonde's defences.

The fight continued on with the fight seemingly in Atid's favour. His combined might and speed made him a terrible foe to fight against. He seamlessly intergrated the use of his wings into his fighting style, often using the claws on them like daggers.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into dozens of minutes. The speed of this fight was so high anyone below Supreme Class could forget about seeing their movements. They couldn't glimpse even their afterimages.

The only signs of their presence were the constant explosions of power and the cracking sound of bone against bone.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Each blow between them was like the sound of cracking thunder. Igor was relatively reserved in terms of counterattacking, but Atid went full-on with his punches.

Igor and Atid moved so fast even those on the lower end of Supreme Class struggled to follow their fight. What was agreed upon however was, Atid was in trouble.

The veterans could clearly see since the beginning, not once has Atid landed a strike on Igor. [Ascend], [Transfer], and [Penetrate] were all attacks he used without scruples. It could clearly be seen he was putting every ounce of effort into this, to defeat his rival.

But all his abilities mattered not if they couldn't land. Opportunities for his [One With The World] technique were impossible to create. Any of his attacks fueled with his [Penetrate] were seamlessly avoided.

Igor parried or dodged everything with a calm expression. He was slower than Atid in terms of raw speed, but his perception and reaction speed more than made up for this shortcoming. From the beginning, this fight has been in his control, and that had an effect on Atid.

"DAMNIT! STOP PRANCING AROUND YOU COWARD!"

The boy committed a rookie mistake by letting anger gradually cloud his eyes. His attacks became more desperate, his movements more erratic. Each and every moment, he was trying to get one, just ONE shot in.

He was losing sight of the greater picture and didn't realise how his moves became that much easier to telegraph.

In a fight between entities of their level, or any level for that matter, falling into a blind rage was no different from skirting along the edge of death.

Puchi!

.

.

.

Silence…

"..."

Drip…drip…

"Wha…what is…"

A thin golden tendril barely the width of a kitchen knife had protruded from the ground and pierced through his heart. He was skewered in midair and his body just froze.

"Is that it?"

Igor's calm voice rang out.

"I trained…for this?"

"..."

*Clenches Fi-*

"Don't move or else I'll kill you and end this farce in your humiliation."

Igor's tone leaked with budding killing intent. He was completely serious, and Atid knew it.

"Not like this. I can't lose like thi-"

"Disappointing."

Igor did not intend to humiliate Atid, but his current showing was nothing short of disappointing. He was fighting like a complete amateur. He remained oblivious to the traps set in the air and lost control of his emotions.

This spear piercing into his chest, Igor half-expected it not to work. The normal Atid would never have fallen for such a thing. This version of Atid was too wild and aggressive. He was not calm and methodical like he should be.

Regardless of circumstances, Atid would never lose his head in battle. This either meant this Atid was an imposter, or…

"You can't control this power, can you."

It was a statement, one that Igor confirmed when Atid's eyes glazed over like black mercury for a moment before reverting back to draconic.

Atid was clearly about to be overtaken by anger, but Igor had long since lost the appetite to play around with his idiot of a friend.

"I don't want to fight a mindless beast."
