[Jin's first person PoV]

D rank missions. The bane of every Genins fantasy to be a badass ninja as soon as they graduate. As for my views on the concept of glorified house chores, it's mostly a waste of time and a way to earn a bit of pocket money.

As someone that has no appreciation for menial tasks and side quests with no impact on the greater picture, I decided to simply speedrun every one of these glorified house chores with maximum efficiency.

Finding some old raisin's run away pet? Have Hokuto scout around the general area where said insignificant life could be hidden, with his Byakugan activated 24/7. Buying groceries for some house parasite? Do it within 20 minutes with roof top running and tree hopping for maximum speed. Walking someone's dog? let Kobeni see if she can put the mule in canine form in a genjutsu to instill a sense of urgency to shit. So far no success, but Kobeni seems rather eager in the task. It's at least a good way for her to practice her genjutsu in a safe environment. If I have to, I wouldn't hesitate in becoming a god dammed slave driver if I have to get my team to do D ranks faster than a deadbeat father can swing his belt.

On the other hand, our Jonin sensei had been rather pleased with our progress in said tasks. On a daily basis, we had been doing four to five missions per day due to our high speedrun efficiency. The other reason why I don't want to waste an extra minute as necessary is the fact that I need to finish another 20 percent of my template within the remaining time I have. My training time is more valuable than doing chores for some motivation disabled parasites.

Every bit of strength matters for me to be able to survive in this devil forsaken ninja world. Scratch that, every one is a wizard except for Guy and Lee.

Besides, I earn more money working at the Higurashi weapon shop, than doing D ranks like a glorified boy scout. At the end of the day. I only earn enough money from these D rank missions to eat for one meal. After that me and my team recieve training from Sakumo for a few hours, before I go to the weapon shop for some forge work, have dinner and start my own training until twelve before I hit the bed. Rince and repeat.

Thanks to the side effects of the mara-struck which I'm inflicted with, I now heal faster then before and possesses a higher stamina regeneration factor. Even if I put myself under too much strain and am technically bedridden, with a night of sleep I am as good as new. That's why I'm abusing this cheat like naruto spamming shadow clones in every fight.

[Line break: 3rd pov]

"clang, tick, clash!"

The sound of sword hitting sword echoed throughout the training ground. With beads of sweat drops falling down Jin's forehead, with every strike he slashes towards Sakumo. The Jonin on the other hand was calm and parried every attack his student threw at him with decisive movements.

"Your talents in kenjutsu is impressive Jin kun." Sakumo blocks another slash aimed for his right bicep and the following stab that were aimed for his wrist.

"Don't be too aggressive in your attacks, you will only tire yourself out in the end, and your movements will become predictable." Sakumo lectured, then suddenly parried Jin's next attack and use the sudden opening to pin Jin face first into the grassy ground with his arms behind his back. "Just like this." the Hatake said casually.

Jin gritted his teeth while glaring up at Sakumo. Sakumo on the other hand only gave Jin that eyes smile that reminded Jin of Kakashi from the anime. Jin only gave an annoyed grumble as his response.

Letting Jin loose from his hold, the smith part-timer dusted off his clothes and sat back on the log where his teammates were watching the spar. "I think you are all ready for a C rank missions now. Rest for today and pack your stuff for a three day trip. There is a group of bandits that had been assaulting the locals in the northern part of the land of fire. Our mission will be to eliminate them. Meet me tomorrow morning at the north gate at 7:00. Make sure you are well rested, especially you Jin kun." Sakumo announced while putting emphasizing the last part.

"Hm." Jin only looked away in childish defiance, like a certain Uchiha.

[Line break: Jin's pov]

While cleaning the workshop area, I looked at the notification I recieved recently after Sakumo announced that we are ready for a C rank mission.

[New Quest: baptized by blood.

Kill at least Five bandits.

Reward: One trace upgrade. For every additional bandit killed will be rewarded one gatcha pull.]

If any one saw me at this moment, then they would have seem me with the most dead eyed look know to mortals gazing into the unseen abyss.

'Survival of the fittest, those nameless characters should pray to whatever god or Eldritch out there that they are fit enough to run away.'

[Time skip: next morning.]

"Good morning, my cute little Genins. Have all of you rest well?" Sakumo asks cheerfully, looking at Jin in particular.

"Of course sensei." replied Hokuto, the ever so optimistic Hyuga. Kobeni only gave a nod. "Yes. I rested splendidly, thanks for asking." Jin replied through his clenched teeth.

'seriously, this field tiller is even more of a dick than Kakashi in the anime.' Jin thought, now contemplating if he should just let the Hatake hang himself and be done with it.

"Good! Then let's be on our way then." Sakumo clapped his hand cheerfully. Jin could swear that his sensei is putting on his cheerful attitude just to annoy him.

'Well, it could always be worse.' Jin try's to be optimistic. At least he didn't have that insufferable asuma in his team. Jin really hates the future smoker for multiple reasons, the most obvious one is that he is a bloody smoker and thus making him a humanoid cancer in his eyes. Besides, unlike Jonin Asuma, young Asuma is an arrogant prick and chases after Kurenai, who is his half sister.

If Jin wasn't related with Kurenai, he wouldn't care. But the thought of the shit flinger Hiruzen's descendants being related to him in one way or another disgusted him to no end.

At some point in time, Jin would have to get Asuma to F■ck off in the future before the two get together.

[line break]

Traveling at a decent speed for half a day, team 5 arrived at one of the outpost villages between the fire capital and konoha. The place also serves for Konoha ninjas to rest while return from a mission or simply to stock up on supplies. After taking a 1 hour break, team 5 continued their trip toward the location where the bandits were last reported to have attacked.

AN: Sorry it took so long, I was sick and then depressed for some time.

I'm not as well versed in Sakumo's personality like I thought, so I used Kakashi as a reference with none of the depression he carries.

In this story I will most likely kill off some characters for the story's sake in the future.

Do to personal reasons, I will be pausing this story for some time until the beginning of ■■■■. Or until the next Blade banner comes. Definitely pulling for Acheron. ♡

Thank you all for reading and have a good day.
