Fight with Me

But just carrying around a giant scythe all day isn't a solution either.

Just as Zane was trying to forcibly stuff it into the treasury, the Reaper's Scythe transformed into a grey stream of light and directly penetrated deep into Zane's soul.

Then it sank into Zane's sea of faith, which was already half grey and half gold.

As Zane's understanding of the power of death deepened, half of the vast faith energy in his sea of faith had already turned into the power of death.

But with the addition of over ten million Frost Giant followers, the scale of the sea of faith expanded again, and the conversion speed of death power seemed somewhat inadequate.

However, with the addition of the Reaper's Scythe, the power of death expanded its scale at a visibly accelerated rate, like a catalyst had been added.

According to Zane's calculations, it might only take half a month for all his faith energy to be converted into the power of death.

Zane's intuition told him that once all his faith energy transformed into the power of death, he would undergo a qualitative transformation.

As for whether he would ignite the divine fire and become a god directly, or just get one step closer to the divine realm, that was beyond Zane's prediction.

After several more spatial jumps, Zane and Odin returned to Asgard. On the way back to his residence, Odin suddenly said to Zane:

"Kid, you're leaving, aren't you?"

"Yeah, Asgard is beautiful, but no matter how beautiful a place is, you get tired of it eventually…"

"The universe is vast, and there are countless unknown things calling to me." Zane nodded without hesitation, his face showing anticipation.

"You young people are full of energy. I'm old; I just want to protect Asgard until the day I fall." Odin said like an old man in his twilight years.

Hearing Odin's words, Zane's mood grew heavier, but he also felt a sense of doubt.

"Old man, I believe there are many ways to extend your life in this universe, and Asgard surely has such methods. Why don't you use them?"

As the remnants of a six-dimensional universe, Asgard couldn't be as simple as it appeared. Surely, there were ways to extend life without side effects.

"You don't understand now, kid. Life and death are the cycles of all things. Living forever would eventually become boring." Odin sighed tiredly.

"So, you're just bored of living, huh?"

Odin's face turned dark immediately. The originally solemn atmosphere was completely ruined by Zane's cheeky remark.

"You brat, if you put as much effort into improving your strength as you do into being snarky, you'd probably be a god by now!" Odin said angrily.

But Zane just waved his hand casually, his expression gradually becoming serious.

"Odin!"

"Hm?" Odin looked at Zane in confusion.

"When the time comes for you to die, you must have a fight with me. A being like you shouldn't fade away silently. Show your strength to the world one last time!"

Zane looked at Odin with intense battle spirit in his eyes.

After hearing what was essentially a challenge from Zane, Odin also stopped and looked at Zane with a blank expression. After a while, he suddenly showed a smile that didn't fit his age, one full of madness and fighting spirit like Zane's.

"Fine! But who dies then is still uncertain!"

"Haha, it's a deal then!"

After speaking, Zane disappeared from Odin's sight without looking back. From afar, Odin vaguely heard a sentence.

"You were meant to roar through the world, yet you chose to hide your claws and become a useless old man…"

Hearing this, Odin shook his head with a bitter smile and muttered to himself.

"This kid really has a lot of aggression. Young people are truly full of vitality."

After saying this, he returned to Asgard's palace to continue his duties. The near-extermination of the Frost Giants seemed to have been settled by Zane, but Odin still had to address the attitudes of other realms and mediate various matters.

However, who could say that Odin wasn't also looking forward to the life-and-death battle with Zane?

Just as Zane returned to his residence in Asgard, an unexpected guest knocked on his door.

When Little Bone opened the door, Thor was standing there with Mjolnir in hand. Zane glanced at him, indicating for him to come in, but didn't pay him much attention.

After all, Thor wasn't his father. Even though his recent journey on Earth had made him grow a lot, his brutish ways were ingrained over a thousand years and wouldn't change overnight.

Currently, he wasn't worth Zane's serious consideration, either in terms of thought or strength. He was still just a grown-up warrior, not yet a king like in "Avengers: Infinity War."

Without going through catastrophic events, how could one become a king capable of destroying worlds?

"What do you want to ask?" Zane finally asked casually after Thor placed Mjolnir on the table and sat opposite him.

"Lord Zane, I have something to ask you. Are you from Earth?" Though phrased as a question, Thor's tone was extremely certain.

Zane nodded, openly admitting it, and then sat there calmly, waiting for Thor's next words. Zane had already guessed what Thor wanted to ask.

It was likely that this guy had encountered S.H.I.E.L.D. people on Earth and learned about Zane's actions there, prompting him to come looking for answers.

"Lord Zane, did you massacre the superheroes on Earth?" Thor stared intensely into Zane's eyes, his muscles tensing, ready to react if Zane made a move.

Though Zane had guessed this, hearing it questioned so bluntly by Thor still made him quite unhappy.

"Little Thor, let me teach you a lesson. When your power hasn't reached a certain level, you should show basic respect to those stronger than you. Otherwise, you might not even know how you died one day," Zane said with a frown.

However, the stubborn Thor seemed to ignore Zane's words and persistently asked:

"Lord Zane, did you massacre the superheroes on Earth?"

This time, Thor raised his voice, almost shouting the last three words.

His motives were simple: part anger at Zane's excessive actions on Earth, especially since his girlfriend Jane was from Earth, giving him a newfound sense of attachment to the planet. Another part was his deep unease about Zane, a highly dangerous being, staying in Asgard.

Zane's mood darkened completely. He had just obtained a handy new weapon and was about to embark on a journey to explore the unknown universe, feeling unprecedentedly good. But now, Thor's questioning had ruined it.

Zane hadn't immediately retaliated only because of Odin's sake. After all, the old man had gone to great lengths for Zane's new weapon, the Reaper's Scythe.

"So what if I did?" Zane replied calmly, his eyes devoid of any emotion, as still as dead water.
