Chapter 3: A new recruit
Year 1997
"What happened to you two?" Rin asked, looking concerned at Aki and the new recruit, Denji. "Did a wild devil attack you or something?"
"No, this bastard beat me up in an alley!" Aki replied, his voice shaking with anger, Denji pushed Aki away, the black haired man stumbled back.
"Hey! You started it!" Denji yelled.
"You poor excuse for a devil hunter! I'll kil-
"That's enough boys!" The dog fiend snarled, the two devil hunters instantly stopped arguing.
"You two was suppose to be patrolling. So why don't you go and tell Makima about that" She scolded them.
"Yes ma'am, sorry for the inconvenience" Aki apologized, he and Denji then hurried down the hallway.
"Rookies" Rin sighed shook her head.
Rin is now the lieutenant of special division 4 for being the first member to join the division.

A group of devil hunters were sent to kill a devil that had one of the gun devil's bullets.
They didn't return for hours so Rin and two other hunters were sent to find them.
They were last seen in a forest where the devil was hiding, everyone decided to split up to find the missing hunters.
A loud screech was heard the distance between the trees, Rin tranformed into her devil form, and run towards the source of screams.
A terrifying devil that resembles a lion, stood over the bodies of multiple devil hunters who were missing.
The beast roared and lunged at the fiend, Rin reacted quickly and dodged the attack. The dog fiend bites the devil's spine, the devil ran around in circles attempting to throw Rin off.
The dog fiend was throw against a tree, the devil approached Rin, prepared to kill her.
"Foolish fiend, you should have never messed with me. The great lion devil!"
Rin spotted nearby katana that belonged to a devil hunter. She dashed to the weapon, unsheathing it.
The lion devil charged at her, when he was about to attack the fiend, Rin stabbed the katana through it's throat. Blood splattered on her face, she let go of the katana and devil fell to the ground lifeless.
"Thank you human, without your weapon I couldn't have beaten the enemy" Rin muttered, paying her respects to the lives that were lost today.
She picked up a walkie-talkie from the ground, it was stained with blood but it still function.
"I defeated the devil and found the missing people."

"It was the lion devil, we managed to find one of the gun pieces, but the missing people were already dead when I found them" Rin reported the mission to her leader.
"Although it was ashame that multiple devil hunters died today. You did retrieved another piece of the gun devil, good job darling" Makima praises Rin, the fiend blushes and smiles.
"Thank you dear" Rin kisses her girlfriend on the cheek.
Being with Makima was the best decision Rin made, she taught her many things that she wouldn't have know if they weren't paired up together. Such as how to get along with human, or how to be empathetic towards others even as a rough, dangerous fiend. Without those, Rin would've already been dead. But of course they had to keep their relationship a secret from everyone since the higher up wouldn't allow a relationship with devils.
"Oh also wanted to ask you about the new recruit."
"What was it you needed to ask about Denji, Rin?"
"I'm sure you saw about happened with him and Aki earlier. So I wanted to ask, why did you keep that boy in public safety? I mean I trust you, but I don't know if he could get along with everyone in the division."
"Denji is a special kind, he is human but can turn into a devil, he is quite useful in battle. I also have another plan for him but I should tell you when the time is right."
"Wow, he is special. I've never seen someone like that in person before. I just hope he and Aki doesn't kill each other."
Edit: I will be taking a few weeks off from writing, since I am on vacation with family.
