Chapter 9: CHAPTER 9. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!!
'How can it be?' How can they be mates? They should have known the first day they met maybe not her, but he should have.
Dylan walked out of the ball room looking livid. His gamma and assistant followed closely behind.
"Prepare your things we are leaving" Dylan said.
"Are you going to leave without her?" His PA asked. She signaled the gamma to leave and he understood. He bowed to Dylan and left. His PA is his younger sister Diane Ambrose. She looked at him and asked again "Are you planning to leave without her?" Dylan turned to face her "yes, I am". "You can't do that" Diane said looking at him like he had grown two heads. "Why can't I?" He asked her. "The pack needs a Luna and also you're an alpha of Midnight pack whether you like it or not you need your mate. You and I know that staying apart from each other will affect you and you'll feel the impact more because you are an ALPHA" she stated angrily.
He knew this, all of it but he couldn't accept her as his mate, as a Luna. If he wasn't an alpha he would've accepted her on the spot but he was alpha, an alpha of the most powerful pack. "I can't accept her. She isn't strong enough to be the Luna of Midnight pack. She doesn't even have a wolf, she will become my weakness if I accept her". Diane knew this too but he needed her. "Whether you accept her or not she will always be your weakness. The bond will mess you up, you won't even function properly as an alpha". She told him.
Meanwhile, Alessia saw Dylan leaving the ballroom and was confused 'why is he leaving' she asked herself. After awhile, she decided to follow him. Getting to the entrance of the ball room, she heard him say clearly 'I can't accept her. She isn't strong enough to be the Luna of Midnight pack. She doesn't even have a wolf, she will become my weakness if I accept her'. So this is it? The mate she longed for, the one she believed without a doubt would love her despite her situation. She felt broken, torn. She could fell her heart shattering to pieces at the moment. She felt lost, wronged. She was in immense pain and she couldn't hold back her tears. Tears flowed down her face and she let it flow freely.
Dylan knew what his sister said was the truth. If he accepted her, his enemies will target her seeing that she was weak and if he doesn't accept her, the pain of rejection, the feeling of loneliness, loss and suffocation, the feeling of wanting to take your own life will forever be with him until his last day. So either way she will always be his weakness. But he understood one thing and that is he needed her. Coming back to his senses, he smelled her, he scent was too strong for him. He turned back simultaneously with his sister and there she was but she was crying, she looked like she was wrong and in serious pain. He instantly knew that she heard what he said just now. How could he have been so careless, he was so lost in his world and consumed in anger that he didn't even notice that she was there.
Seeing her standing in a position all along Said and Meher decided to check on her and Odessa followed suit. Getting to where Alessia was standing, they were stunned to see her crying. "What happened Alex?" Said asked her concerned. She didn't respond. She kept on looking at Dylan and they followed her line of sight. Meher then understood immediately that Dylan might have said something and she heard it and with the way he left the ball room, what he said wasn't pleasant at all. Dylan stood looking at her with no expression or emotion on his face.
Alessia picked up her gown and ran. She ran all the way to her room. She felt like she couldn't breath. Getting to her room, she took of her shoe, tiara and gown. She changed into a more suitable outfit. She wore a white top, brown cargo pant and white canvas. She cleaned the makeup from her face and proceeded to wash her face. It was time for plan B. She had wanted this party because she hoped to find her mate and leave with him because she didn't want to be a burden to anyone anymore. So now I'll be leaving but without my mate. I looked at my reflection in the mirror. This morning I looked at my reflection on this same mirror with the brightest smile on my face but right now I was smiling bitterly at myself. I packed a few of my stuffs making sure to gather everything I considered important, my savings and I took my car key. I hardly drive because I'm always indoor.
Dominic and Ophelia came out when they saw Alessia running away. He saw Dylan and could guess what had just happened. Meher was boiling with anger and he walked up to Dylan "you may be one hell of an alpha but I won't stand and watch you hurt my sister. Hurt her one more time and I get a wind of it, I'll come for you" Meher growled thunderously. And with that he and Said chased after Alessia. Ophelia saw red, 'what? He hurt her baby girl?' She was about to speak when Dominic placed his hands on her shoulder signaling her to calm down. Dominic faced Dylan and said two words "My Office" and with that he left with Ophelia. Dylan and Diane followed suit. Richard grabbed Irene's hand. Looking deep into her eyes he asked "do you have something to tell me?" She was taken aback by his question. Of course she had something to tell him. Seeing the look on her face, he instantly knew that she had something to say. The moment he identified her as his mate, there was a look of guilt on her face but he had thought he was just seeing things, but she was constantly avoiding eye contact with him so he suspected that she was hiding something. So seeing the look on her face just now she confirmed his suspicion. "We need to talk" he said and pulled her out of the ballroom and into the garden. This is the woman he is going to spend the rest of his life with, therefore there should be no secret. Getting to the garden, he let go of her hand and turned to face her. "Speak" he commanded. She looked away but didn't say anything. "You are the one I'm going to be spending whatever is remaining of my life with, if you are keeping secrets and I can't trust you how do I spend the rest of my life with you?" He asked her looking hurt. She was stunned, she looked at him shocked, blinking her eyes. 'He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her?' She questioned herself. "Do you want us to reject ourselves and go our separate ways?" He asked her. "No!!! Noooooo. I don't want that" she responded quickly. "So what are you hiding?" He asked. "Alright. Don't be mad" she said before averting her gaze from his and focusing it on her hand. "So I've known that you're my mate for a long time but I was always avoiding you. Whenever you're around I'll be far away from you unless I'm needed by Alessia and I was trying to keep a distance so you don't realize I'm your mate. That's why you always feel uneasy if I'm around". 'What!!! She knew?' Richard wasn't expecting to hear this. "Why?" He asked feeling wronged. "I'm an omega, I was scared that you'll reject me and besides you were obsessed with Alessia. So instead of getting rejected, I decided not to reveal myself to love you from afar". She said with tears streaming down her face. Wait what? Richard was confused again. So she didn't reveal herself to him because, because she was scared. "You are my mate, I'll never reject my mate, never." He said wiping away her tears. "look at me, I won't hurt you Irene, I love you" he said seriously. Irene wasn't expecting to hear him say those words 'I love you' but she was excited "I love you too" she said. He kissed her. It wasn't deep and innocent at first but gradually it became heated and intense.
Dylan and Diane walked into the office after Dominic and Ophelia. Dominic turned to Dylan and asked "What did you say to my daughter?" He is a man with principles, he loves peace but he isn't weak at all. He is deadly, ferocious and ruthless. "I didn't say anything to her" Dylan replied calmly. "What did she over hear" Dominic asked again. "He said he couldn't accept her because she has no wolf, because she is weak and will only become his weakness" Ophelia replied. Obviously she had used her magic to search his memory just now. Dylan was actually surprised and impressed because he is one person whose memory cannot be searched easily. There is always a wall hindering magic wielders from searching his memory just like when Said tried searching his memory earlier he felt it but Said couldn't get in. But Ophelia had effortlessly searched his memory and he didn't even know until she spoke. But he remained unfazed not giving out any expression or emotion. "You know how the Midnight pack operates" that was all he just said. "Fine if you and your pack isn't okay with my daughter then I'll call her down and you both will reject yourselves and you can go freely" Ophelia said shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly like she didn't know the impact rejecting the bond will cause on him. Dylan gaze got darker but he didn't say anything. "You came to me asking for one of my daughters to become your Luna since you couldn't find your mate, I understood your situation since you needed your luna to secure your position as the alpha of your pack. I agreed and I requested an alliance between our packs, you agreed. Now you've seen your mate and you don't want her" Dominic said utterly confused. "I wanted to go with Starlette. She doesn't have all the qualities of being a Luna but the places she is lacking in are things that she can learn. At least she has a wolf, she's stubborn and unwilling to back down when she wants something, she's bold. That's what my pack needs". Dylan said emotionlessly. "So what do you want to do because I stand on the idea of rejecting each other" Ophelia said. "We won't be rejecting each other. I can't, she's my mate" Dylan declared coldly. "But you aren't acting like as though she is" Ophelia replied coldly. "I'm going to take her back with me to my pack and we will get married". Dylan said. "Impossible!!" Ophelia thundered "how do I trust you with my daughter, how do I know you're not going to hurt her?" She was furious. "I won't hurt Alessia. She's my mate after all and we share a bond, I hurting her is equivalent to hurting myself". He said stating the obvious.
Dominic and Ophelia knew that they couldn't separate two mates no matter how much they didn't like Dylan. Keeping them away from themselves will put them at risk, they will remain restless and will loose their self safety and sanity slowly and daily. It may lead to suicide. So they couldn't. "Fine" Dominic said. "I swear in the name of everything that is alive, if you hurt Alessia I WILL KILL YOU". And with that they left the office. Coming out of the office they saw Meher talking to Alessia who had surprisingly changed her previous outfit. She was trying to get pass Meher with a bag in her hand while Said was blocking the entrance. So apparently Meher and Said had gone after Alessia and saw her trying to leave the building with a bag in her hand and her car key so they understood immediately what she was about to do. Odessa walked in just then. "Let me go Meher, I'm done burdening you all" Alessia yelled helplessly at her brother. "Alessia calm down, think this through" Meher said trying to reason with her. "I'm calm and I've thought it through, please let me go" she begged still trying to get pass him but he was blocking her. Odessa turned to face Said and ask "is this what I think it is". "What do you think it is?" Said responded. "That Alessia is trying to run away". Odessa answered. "That's exactly what it is" he said to her. "Join me and guard the door" he said. Odessa nodded and took her position.
"Alessia" Ophelia called out to her lightly. Alessia stopped in her tracks when she heard her mom's voice. She didn't know that there were more people now. She didn't reply she just stood still. "Alessia your mate is here" Dominic said. "My mate?" She asked sarcastically. "He doesn't want me". She said gripping her bag tight. "I do" Dylan responded. Any other day he would've kept mute but he needed her to follow him to his pack, he needed her for his sanity. Alessia was taken aback. She turned slowly to face him. "I heard you, you said..." "That I couldn't accept you. I know" he interrupted. "It was a mistake" he said. Everyone was shocked to hear him say what he just said. Diane was the most surprised. She knew her brother he never said such words before. 'What is he doing?' She asked herself. "I've decided to take you back to my pack and get married to you in a month time". 'What did he just say' Alessia asked herself. "We are getting married!!" She asked with mixed emotions.
