"Kenny, you're quite the funny type, you actually travelled all the way here to come ask me this?" Castan was speechless by the latter's act.
"Don't mind me, I just like my things being a bit more straightforward and more official. I just wanted to know your thoughts on the matter.
Most of the times these lords find it hard to explain things to my understanding".
Taking a deep breath Castan stood up from his throne.
"At least now you've given me an excuse to leave.
Do you mind dinning with me? I was just about to go have a meal when you came in." he asked.
"Sure, I don't mind" Kenny replied.
Meanwhile far east, Gerald had already gotten to his castle and was still fuming in anger.
"Get me Derrick, I need to end this issue now! what sort of thing is this?" he ordered the guards and they quickly went off, to do as they were told.
He sat on his throne flocked with women, all dressed half naked.
"My lord, why do you look so angry" One of the ladies asked as she neared him with a seductive and alluring gaze.
However, to her shock she received a sound slap, that made her spit blood.
"Get out!, you all should get out! " He shouted, his eyes bulging red in anger.
All the girls quickly left his presence and soon his throne room was left empty, and immediately someone appeared next to him.
"Derrick! can you tell me what the king meant by that, what kind of insult is that, to a lord as myself."
"My lord you are too quick to anger, and you perhaps made a mistake trying to make Garmond appear bad in the presence of the king, are you unaware of their relationship as childhood friends?" Derrick asked,
"Though from what he said, it is very clear that he is aware of everything you've been doing and sooner or later you'd be losing your tittle as a lord" He added
"Wh...at do you mean, what did I do?" The word Derrick uttered startled him a bit. He couldn't imagine a life on the street after everything he'd done to his people.
"Did you really think the Empire wouldn't notice sooner or later? upon all the money that has been sent to your kingdom, you still have the poorest infrastructure and the lowest economic status of all the four kingdoms of the empire.
"You have eaten too much of the money and it is clearly visible on the kingdom. What the king was trying to tell you earlier is that you have nothing to offer and you would soon be thrown away from your castle. It's very simple" Derrick said, his eyes devoid of emotion.
"D....o you... have any way to deal with this?" His mind was anxious, ready to do anything to keep his position as a lord.
"Well, there's nothing much other than showing the king that you can be useful to his reign"
"How am I meant to do that," he asked, sweating profusely with the tension building up in him.
"Well I don't really know, but from what I have researched, I discovered why the lordship status doesn't leave from the house of Ravenspare."
"Huh, why?!" he asked, as though in a haste. He wanted to prove his worth to the king as soon as possible.
"It's because of their family heirloom, a powerful armor backed up with a sword, that gives the wielder unmatched strength and battle prowess. I don't really know, I have not confirmed myself it might be a myth.
Listening through the whole story what caught Gerald's attention was the mention of a heirloom.
"You know,this castle has an ancient heirloom but non of the past lords have been able to activate it. It was said to wield great power and unmatched strength."
"Hmm, can I have a look?" Derrick said.
"If you wish to, I can prepare for you to enter my family chamber" Gerald quickly said.
"As you wish my sire", he said, disappearing into thin air as Gerald was left to handle the preparations, it didn't take as much time as he'd expected and soon he called Derrick to come see for himself.
They both entered the store room of the castle, carrying thousands of special artifacts, the room was quite large, having a wide span, and all the artifacts were covered within a thick glass material, almost similar to a museum.
At the far end of the room they was a talisman that seemed to be emitting a mysterious aura. It was kept quite a distance from all the other artifacts, making it look a more mysterious, than it already was.
"That's the family's heirloom, but it has been kept here because no one has ever been able to tell what it's actually used for" Gerald explained looking at the talisman, turning his head to see the person who stood by his side, and he could see the other sweating profusely.
Derrick was amazed the amount of magical energy the little talisman emitted, it looked like it was devouring all the magical energy in the whole kingdom, even standing there at the moment he could tell his magical energy was seeping off him too.
He couldn't help but think what power such a talisman could wield, but as much as he wanted to know he also knew how dangerous it'd be to tamper with something like that.
"I'll take sometimes to study it and understand what it's used for, it's somewhat strange" He said, still uncertain if it was the best decision to go near something that had such mysterious aura around it.
"I believe you'll find something worth the time " Gerald said, with a large smile plastered on his face, he couldn't help but be happy, at least now he was sure that if Derrick could make out something from the ancient talisman that he would finally have a hold on his lordship status.
He knew it wasn't possible for a useless talisman to be kept as a family heirloom for thousands of decades, or was it? Well, for him it was better to try than losing his position at the moment.
And of course having a sweet revenge on the idiot Garmond, for spoiling his day, he wasn't going to let it slide just like that, and he was going to come back this time with full force.
