A few days had passed since Miquella and Malenia received their acceptance letters to U.A. High School, and the time had finally come for their first day. The twins had both been placed in the same class, 1-A. As they walked towards the classroom, they encountered a full-blown argument between an angry blonde student and a tall teen with black hair, who were fighting over the blonde kid's feet being on the desk. Miquella and Malenia decided to ignore the commotion and proceed to find their seats, scanning the room as they did so. Miquella recognized that they had replaced Mineta and the student with a tail, though he couldn't recall the latter's name. While walking towards their seats, a figure nearly the same height as Miquella approached them.
Miquella was initially confused, wondering why this random person was approaching him. Then, he recognized the figure's appearance: a hunched yet giant form with an almost mountain-like face. 'Oh yeah, he's the kid I saved in the entrance exam' Miquella thought. 'Man, what was his name again? Cody, kogy?' The figure walked up to Miquella and, in a quiet tone, addressed him. "H-hello, I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Koji Koda, and if it wasn't for you, I don't think I would have passed the entrance exam. So, I just want to say thank you again."
Miquella responded " No problem at all, glad I could lend a hand!"
As they were talking, the sound of an adult man's voice came from the entrance to the room. Turning around, they found a yellow caterpillar-like creature with a disheveled man's face staring at them. "If you're going to be hunting for buddies, do it elsewhere because this is the Department of Heroes," he said sternly before managing to down an entire juice box in one go.
After that, he took off the sleeping bag he was wearing to reveal a simple hero outfit. "It took 8 seconds for all of you to calm down. It goes to show that you are all lacking in composure. My name is Shoto Aizawa, and I will be your homeroom teacher."
Their new teacher then rummaged around in the sleeping bag he had just been sleeping in and pulled out a bunch of gym clothes. "Wear these and meet me at the training grounds," he instructed the class.
After a bit, the class was now out of their school outfits and all in their new U.A. P.E. and uniforms. "Now that all of you are ready, we will now do a quirk apprehension test," Aizawa declared. As soon as he said that, someone Miquella remembered, Uraraka, asked a question, "What about the ceremony!? And the guidance counselor meeting!?"
"If you all want to be heroes, we don't have time for those frilly niceties, and besides, you all understand the school's reputation for freedom on campus. Well, that freedom goes for us teachers too."
He then proceeded to explain the activities they would be undertaking during the apprehension test. As he finished speaking, he glanced back and forth between Miquella and Malenia, as if deciding something with a game of Eenie meenie miney moe before ultimately settling on Malenia. "Malenia, how far could you pitch a softball in middle school?" he inquired. Malenia swiftly replied, "80 meters." Aizawa then added, "This time, try utilizing your quirk within the designated circle. Feel free to give it your all, and remember not to hold back."
Taking their new teacher's words to heart, Malenia decided not to hold back and quickly entered her bloomed state, with wings sprouting behind her back. Observing the transformation, Miquella thought to himself, 'In the span of ten years, she has become capable of entering her bloomed state for up to thirty minutes a day. As long as she paces herself, she will be able to utilize her bloomed state in almost every test.'
Malenia then threw the ball as hard as she could. After the throw, she quickly turned back to her normal form to conserve her energy. Aizawa started talking, "Before anything else, one must know what they're capable of. This will be the basis of your hero foundation." He then turned the tablet he was holding to reveal the distance - 800 meters.
"800 meters! That's insane!"
"That was the manliest throw I've ever seen!"
"Awesome! That looked so fun!"
As soon as someone uttered the word "fun," it was like a light switch flipped in Aizawa's head. His previous bored expression was replaced with a much darker one. "It looks fun... you say?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of menace. "So you were planning to spend your three years here having a good ol' time? What happened to becoming heroes?"
After hearing the silence of the class, Aizawa decided to answer for them. "All right then. In that case, a new rule has been made: the student who is ranked last will be judged as hopeless and is instantly expelled."
It was again Uraraka who asked the question a good portion of the class was thinking, "Wait, the kid who ranks last gets expelled? This is our first day here! Isn't that a bit unreasonable!?"
"Natural disasters, massive accidents, mad villains - all kinds of calamities can happen when you least expect them to. Japan is positively drenched in 'unreasonable,' and it is our job as heroes to reverse it and restore reason. From now on, expect your next three years here at U.A. to be one hardship after the next, because this is Plus Ultra, and I expect you to overcome these trials and climb to the top."
Looking at the class, Miquella noticed that Aizawa's speech managed to motivate everyone to try their hardest, seeing that it was their future on the line.
The first test was a 50-meter dash. Tenya Iida and Asui Tsuyu were the first to compete, showcasing their impressive abilities. Iida's speed was unmatched, as he completed the dash in just 3.04 seconds, demonstrating his exceptional quirk.
Next, it was Miquella's turn to face off against a student named Hanta Sero, who could shoot tape from his elbows. As Aizawa gave the signal to start, Miquella quickly summoned his quirk, Torrent. Sero got into a runner's stance, but as soon as Aizawa said "Go," Miquella's Torrent propelled him forward in a mad dash toward the finish line.
Miquella's time was an impressive 3.32 seconds, leaving Sero trailing behind. The other contestants of note for Miquella were Malenia, who immediately turned into her bloomed state again and got a speed of 4.02 seconds, and the original main character's rival, Bakugo, who managed to get through the finish line at 4.13 seconds.
The next test was the grip strength test. While not as strong as his sister in her bloomed state, who achieved an impressive 738 kg, Miquella still managed a respectable 145 kg, placing him fourth in the class. Other notable performances included Mezo Shoji, who used his multiple connected arms to achieve a score of 540 kg, and Momo Yaoyorozu, who created a specialized clamp that she tightened until the grip tester couldn't withstand any more force.
A few tests passed with Miquella consistently ranking in the top three. The next trial was the softball pitch. The first to step up was Uraraka, who managed to achieve an "infinity" score by launching the ball into space. One after another, students took their turn. Finally, only two remained: Miquella and Izuku Midoriya.
Izuku was called up next, and just like in the original, Aizawa deactivated his quirk when he tried to throw. Aizawa then began to lecture Izuku about how his current quirk usage was inefficient and would leave him essentially useless after one use. Pulling Izuku aside for a private conversation, though no one could hear their words, Izuku's expression suggested it wasn't a pleasant exchange. After a brief discussion, Aizawa allowed Izuku to retry his throw. This time, Izuku managed to achieve the third-highest score so far, beating Bakugo's score by one point, though it did result in him breaking his finger.
Suddenly, Bakugo charged towards Izuku, attempting to attack him. Aizawa quickly intervened, stopping Bakugo before any harm could be done. Finally, it was Miquella's turn.
'Wow, this is awkward,' Miquella thought. 'Why do I have to go right after someone just had their little main character moment? Hmm, what should I do? I guess I could just tie it onto Torrent's saddle, but that's pretty boring.' After a moment, Miquella came up with an idea - something that every anime fan has wished to do at least once. He took the softball and immediately entered a slightly crouched stance, cupping his hands and gathering golden energy within his palms. Then, he began speaking the iconic words.
"Kame-!"
"No way, he isn't really?!"
"Not this again!"
"Hame!"
"HAAAA!"
Instantly, a powerful golden wave of light shot out from Miquella's palms, exerting such force that it almost pushed him back. He stood his ground, continuously adding energy until he felt a wave of exhaustion hit him so stopped to conserve energy for the remaining tests. As he stumbled back, Malenia rushed to his side, scolding him, "What have I told you about trying to recreate moves from those old animes Alfred gave you?"
While they were talking, Aizawa turned over the tablet, revealing a score of 3980 meters.
"Wow, that was pretty manly!"
"What a dazzling display!"
After that, they immediately moved on to the next few trials. Luckily for Miquella, the first one was the distance run, which he easily won thanks to Torrent's seemingly endless stamina. Malenia and Momo tied for second place – Malenia due to her own impressive stamina, and Momo because she created a fast electric scooter. Next came sit-ups, where both Miquella and Malenia had to be told to stop. Finally, the seated toe touch went to Tsuyu Asui, who, thanks to her quirk, was incredibly flexible.
"Time to present your results. The total is simply a sum of each of your scores, as reciting each individual score would take an eternity, and I have better things to do," Aizawa explained lazily. "Oh yeah, I guess I should tell you that the whole 'Expulsion' thing was a lie. It was just a strategic ploy to bring out your best performances."
""WHAAT!""
Momo chimed in, "Of course it was a ruse, guys! What teacher would expel a student on the first day?" Miquella thought to himself, 'Yeah, right, if only you knew Aizawa was crazy enough to expel an entire class on the first day...'
"With that, your curriculum sheets are back in the classroom, so give them a once-over when you get inside," Aizawa said as he turned to leave, presumably to return to the classroom. His tired eyes flicked towards Izuku, who was still clutching his injured finger. "Oh, and Midoriya, go to the infirmary to get yourself patched up."
The students crowded around the scoring sheet, eager to see their results. Miquella noticed he had somehow secured first place, with Malenia trailing closely behind in second. "Good job, brother," Malenia said with a playful grin, "but next time, I'll be the one taking first place."
After returning to their classroom, the day unfolded like a typical first day of school. The students engaged in introductions, their teacher, Aizawa, somehow managing to slink back into his sleeping bag and fall asleep behind his desk. As the final bell rang, signaling the end of their first day, Miquella and Malenia left the school and headed towards the car parked out front, marking their first successful day at U.A. High.
