Chapter 37: Chase Freeloading Meals

Even after recovering his memories, Chase's life remained as monotonous as ever, continuing his routine of martial arts training and freeloading meals, unchanging and unwavering.

His adoptive father trusted him so much, letting him train with Master Fu Hua and build good relations with Kiana's family. Chase couldn't afford to disappoint his adoptive father.

Today was the day when Otto would assess the results of Fu Hua's teachings.

Otto specially arranged a training room and, with a twisted sense of humor, asked Theresa to be his sparring partner to evaluate Chase's strength.

Normally, Valkyries' strength assessments were based on battles against Houkai Beasts. Did Theresa, an S-rank Valkyrie, misunderstand something?

Chase couldn't comprehend it, but he found it quite amusing.

After all, it felt like a father beating his son!

Even though Theresa was a woman, it didn't affect his understanding. In any case, Chase considered himself Theresa's father! Since his adoptive father acknowledged him as a son, and Chase happened to hold a grudge against Theresa.

If it weren't for that punch back then, he would have been happily living in Anti-Entropy with Sirin without all the complications that followed.

So, during the sparring match, Chase didn't hold back at all. His main tactic was to be a caring father and then...

He was thoroughly schooled by Theresa.

A battle-hardened elderly woman with decades of experience on the battlefield, although she had suffered some losses recently, she was not someone a novice like Chase could easily handle.

Theresa's physique was indeed deceptive. If an ordinary person faced her as an opponent, they would likely underestimate her due to her childlike appearance.

Although Chase had a fatherly mindset, having once been beaten by Theresa, he naturally didn't underestimate her and silently mocked her physique in his mind.

At the moment the battle began, Chase discarded meaningless emotions and abandoned meaningless thoughts.

No greed, no anger, no resentment, still water without ripples.

Chase extended his hand, adopting the starting posture of the Tai Xu Sword Qi, "Qi Sword - Rending Void."

Theresa chuckled, shouldering Judah, and attacked Chase.

Initially, perhaps due to mutual probing, the two exchanged blows, but it wasn't until Theresa brought out Judah...

Invincible Chase fell.

As Chase lay defeated, he grumbled. Who uses Judah for a test?

The bishop's silly granddaughter, his nominal daughter? Well, that's fine. Theresa, you did well!

Chase was helpless. He couldn't beat his opponent in the first place, and being suppressed by equipment added insult to injury. It was a bit unfair. Who has a thirty-year-old daughter bullying her teenage father like this?

Is there no justice?

This time, the assessment of strength was a bit biased.

"Clap, clap, clap." Otto approached Chase, applauding with appreciation.

"Well done, my adopted son. I didn't expect Theresa without using Judah couldn't defeat you." Otto recalled the reports on Chase's recent activities provided by Amber and thought if he could skip a few meals at Kiana's house, his strength might increase even faster.

As everyone knows, the S-rank Valkyrie's Judah is Theresa's loyal emitter.

"Grandpa!" Theresa exclaimed, "I was holding back."

Grandpa is really annoying, Theresa secretly noted in her little book.

Chase was dissatisfied and immediately counterattacked, "Just say you haven't fought without using Judah before, right?"

Theresa: ???

Originally wanted to use Judah to tidy up the culprit who caused her to be persecuted, but ended up losing so thoroughly, darn it!

Then, Otto spoke, "Chase, your strength is already quite good. You can try taking on missions now."

Upon hearing this, Chase was instantly grateful. Finally, he could go out. Adoptive father, please don't regret it. When I successfully reunite with my little sister, there will be rewards for you.

He felt restricted in Schicksal, always feeling like a golden retriever was monitoring him, ready to catch his flaws and make him uncomfortable at all times.

So, Chase nodded and said, "I won't disappoint my adoptive father's expectations!"

..............

On the other side, the news of Chase leaving Schicksal to undertake missions quickly reached Anti-Entropy.

Welt remained calm but somewhat nervous.

Did Otto, that old lamp, just release people like this? Could it be a lure, is there any deception?

Sirin was very happy, humming a song, sitting on a stool, swinging her fair little feet, appearing to be in an extremely good mood.

Hmph, finally, she could see her brother. Now, she must make him look good. No, she must catch up on the old times~

Bella was also very happy. Now she must complain to Brother about the recent temperament of the Queen. The Queen has been angry with Bella all the time; Brother should manage it well. With Brother here, Anti-Entropy will be peaceful. With Brother here, the sky will be clear!

Fu Hua smelled the scent of an impending storm. She was currently training in the martial arts field, preparing for the possible upcoming battle.

Since she had promised to help Chase join Anti-Entropy, she naturally had to do her best. She couldn't be a fence-sitter, helping whichever side won, which didn't align with her principles.

She didn't know what she could do now in her current state...

If all else fails, she could burn her memories.

In the Bishop's office on the other side, Otto raised his glass and took a sip of the swirling red liquid. When he put down the glass, the red liquid immediately stopped swirling and maintained the same height, neither increasing nor decreasing.

His calm gaze contained a hint of madness, like a madman who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

The pieces were already in place, now it was just waiting for the player to arrive for the game.

He had the patience to play against the player, and the confidence to overturn the chessboard directly.

Everything was still under control.

And Chase? He was a freeloader...
