Chapter 15: Twin Stars

The wind made the trees dance as the ten wyverns circled around the forest, covering the noon sun. Their echoing roars sounded around. The army of adventurers and knights was in a hopeless situation—surrounded by the ground and the sky. The Warriors could only stare at the situation they were in.

Vahili, who was bleeding due to her injuries, used her sword to squat, staring at the identical twin enemies in front of her. "Who are you?"

As if both of them were waiting for Vahili's question, both of them smiled with a hint of excitement.

"I am glad you asked. We are the Twin Stars, members of the group Heralds; my name is Julian Edelman, the Order of Light," the one who was using light magic said.

"I am Jude Edelman, the Tamer of Fauna," said the one who was using monster-tamer magic.

Vahili scoffed. "Heralds, huh? So, you all are starting your movement now," she said, trying to stand up with the support of her sword.

"We are always on the move; it just happens that you low lives didn't notice us. We are just really good at erasing our traces, just like what we are about to do right now," Julian said, raising his index finger. "Piercing light," he said, about to deliver the final blow to Vahili.

"Thunder Strike!" Hyuna's voice sounded, taking the attention of the twins. At the same time, a roaring thunder appeared on top of them.

A blue lightning struck the position of the twins, forcing them to control the white wolves they were riding on to jump out. Their eyes immediately darted to Hyuna.

"She's already healed," Jude said, talking about Hyuna's injury.

"Now, Killian!" screamed the captain of the adventurers as the forces of the knights and adventurers stood in front of Vahili, shielding her.

"I am on it," Killian said as he jumped in and squatted next to Vahili. His hands glowed in green light, healing her wounds. "She have received a lot of wounds; it would take some time."

"Then, take your time, healer; we will buy you time as long as you need it," the captain of the knights said, raising his weapon with resolve.

Jude remained stoic as he stared at the forces shielding Vahili. "Of course, that's your only way to become useful. Weaks cannot win any fight, so the only thing they can do is to sacrifice their lives to buy time," he said and waved his hands. "Clear the way."

As Jude commanded, the monsters surrounding the formation began to attack again, disrupting their defensive form. Monsters jumped in and began overwhelming the entire army. On the other hand, Jude and Julian approached Vahili and Killian.

"You healed me more than enough. You should run now, Killian," Vahili said. She was still injured but could finally stand up.

"I think it's already too late for that, Vahili," Killian said.

Vahili stared at Killian. Killian's eyes were filled with resolve as he continued healing Vahili's wounds. The noon sun lit up his face, and the wind danced in the forest, making his black hair sway. There were no regrets in his eyes.

"Killian," Vahili could only say as her eyes shivered in understanding.

"A healer," Julian said, and he aimed his index finger at Killian's head. "Piercing Light." He was about to attack, but he was stopped by Jude.

"Wait, brother. I have a better idea," Jude said, smiling sadistically.

Killian stared at Vahili with a smile. "I have only one request, Vahili. Win this for me."

"Feast on that healer, my pet," Jude said.

The ground beneath Killian crumbled, and a hole was formed as a massive, bloodthirsty mole emerged, grabbing Killian with its claws and immediately pulling him inside the hole. In a split second, Killian disappeared.

"Killian," Vahili could only say as tears came out of her eyes.

"As you know, Killer Moles likes keeping their victims alive while eating them. It would be a very painful death for him—what a pity," Jude said, and he sounded a mocking laugh.

Thanks to Killian's final attempt to heal her, almost all of Vahili's wounds were healed, enough to allow her fight with her full power.

"You will pay for this!" Vahili screamed as she rushed towards Jude, great hatred visible in her eyes.

Julian didn't even flinch; he aimed his index finger at Vahili. "Too bad; that healer's sacrifice is useless," he said with an unapologetic tone. "Piercing Light."

A barrage of lines of lights pierced through Vahili's armor, showering her with lethal shots that immediately stopped her from her path. Making her kneel—hopeless and powerless.

This time, no one could help Vahili; everyone was currently being overwhelmed by waves upon waves of monsters. Even Hyuna was completely occupied in the middle of the fight.

"It seems this is the end of your journey, princess," Julian said as he aimed his index finger at Vahili. "Farewell."

Julian fired a piercing light directly into Vahili's head. Vahili, on the other hand, could only close her eyes, waiting for her end.

The killing magic was fired, but Vahili's end didn't come.

As Vahili raised her gaze, what she found was Julian continuously firing Piercing Light on her, but a certain blue barrier was not allowing the attacks to pass through.

"This barrier is completely blocking my attacks," Julian said in frustration.

"Was it Princess Hyuna's doing?" Jude asked.

"No. She's currently occupied, and even if she used her barrier, she doesn't have enough magic power to block it. My attacks should just penetrate through it easily," Julian said, still continuously attacking the barrier but his attacks just getting absorbed.

"Brother," Jude said as his eyes widened and he looked around.

"What? Can't you see I am busy here?" Julian said, frustrated.

"My monsters are being killed so fast—something is killing them. Something is coming our way," Jude said, but immediately stopped as a series of explosions engulfed the sky above them.

The explosions roared, getting the attention of everyone, followed by the cries of one of the most powerful types of monsters known to man, the wyverns, being burned alive.

Julian and Jude could only stare as they watched the ten wyverns burn into ashes—not even a single trace was left.

Vahili's eyes shivered upon seeing the aftermath of the explosive attacks. "Ten Class A monsters—a group that needed an entire kingdom's army to have a chance to defeat—got obliterated in an instant."
