Chapter 63: Luck and Curse
Gerald blinked again and reopened his eyes to cast them on the scarlet haired figure that stood Infront of him with the arrow in his raised hand, looking straight at the direction from where it was shot.
He had appeared just in time and had caught the arrow just before it hit him.
His Scarlet hair tossed freely in the wind as a bewildered knight stared from behind him.
He recognized who his saviour was,his short Scarlet hair and white spotless garment,it was General Rengyotsu.
The Scarlet prince thightened his grip against the arrow, vanquishing it before turning his head to eye him from over his shoulders and for a brief moment those piercing scarlet pupils stared fiercely at him.
You_can't die,you must live"
Gerald thought he heard wrong but no...he knew what he had just heard had come from the General's lips.
Did he just hear him speak?
That was the first time the General had ever spoken to him,his voice so calm yet bore a measure of authority in it.
Gerald watched blood trickle down the hand Ren had caught the arrow with.
Somehow the sharp metal part of the arrow had cut him,giving the poison a way to seep into his blood.
"General...your hand_"
General Ren raised his eyes and looked at it,his face ever expressionless.
His hand was concentrically covered in letters of unknown scripts and the cut area was darkened with blood oozing out from from it
He knew he had been cut and was healing himself but now that he thought of it,it was healing much slower than it should.
His gaze drifted to Gerald,then back at the injury.
Ren was certain the Knight could tell as well,it wasn't an ordinary arrow but one that was both a cursed and poisoned.
Curses were forbidden spells in Delvin,but it was rumoured few sorcerers secretly used them and only few powerful non-sorceror demons could counter them and thankfully he was one of those, moreso,the poison spreading through his body was one Ren knew would require sometime and rest to get rid of.
Soon enough he was certain it would start taking it's effect on his body
Gerald looked ahead with rage in his eyes before spreading out his wings in attempt to go after his attacker but Ren stopped him,letting out a hand to block his way.
"You_cant_beat him".
"Are you go_"
Ren nodded and vanished immediately.
Gerald froze as he stared at the spot where Ren had stood.
Judging by the appearance of the General's wound,Gerald knew the arrow had been shot by a sorcerer and he could only think of one_Dark.
He was here along with Athena and probably more of them camouflaging as allies of the empire.
Gerald swallowed with difficulty and didn't know why his hands trembled.
His entire life fright had long existed yet far away from him but this time,he didn't know why_.
He wasn't sure if it was the fear of dying that frightened him or fear of what he knew dying with him.
Chief Knight Zero needed his help but what good could a dead person do?
These_"THEM"held identities of people he knew nothing about and Dark was only one of which he wasn't sure he could beat.
He had to get back to Tyran and find a way to get him to help Zero but first he had to warn him.
Gerald tried reaching Tyran via telepathy but it was blocked.
Someone here,more powerful than him had blocked his.
He strained his sense of smell as his eyes darted all over his surroundings but he couldn't spot anyone suspicious,they were mostly knights and generals around busy fighting with savages.
Knights couldn't but generals,there are many generals in Delvin strong enough to block his telepathy.
Gerald's eyes met general fushin's who stared down at him from a tree some distance from where he stood.
Gerald faked a smile but the General didn't return it.
He had seen all that went down and his face wore a worrisome expression.
The knight's smile disappeared and he looked away.
He didn't see the abnormally huge savage approaching him from behind, swinging it's claws at his head.
When Gerald realized it,it was too late,it had caught flesh but not his,another knight had taken the hit, shielding him from it's claws with his back.
Gerald's mouth flew open as he turned to watch the Chief knight Zero drop to the ground.

Mia walked down a hallway connecting the empress's quaters to the servant's quarters,then turned down a few stone pavements before her nose caught scent of something unfamiliar.
She quickly walked back and took a short route through a wide grain field following the scent.
She raised her gown as she tore though the tall plants in her path, earnestly searching for it.
From her height above the grains,so far streched out was the grain field with nothing in sight but her nose wouldn't betray her she was certain something was here, hiding maybe,something she had never encountered before.
Mia followed it's scent,trusting her nose every bit of the way till she came to a spot she was most certain it was.
She flexed her hip low and parted the tall grain to find_
"A baby!"She gasped."A naked baby!"
Startled at the sight she stared for a while at it's huge beautiful blueish-grey eyes before her eyes settled on his silver hair.
Though he looked like an ordinary demon baby he smelt nothing like one and his hair was_silver coloured,she had never seen anything like it.
Mia perceived another scent and raised her head to see two maids in the distance.
They appeared as though searching for something or someone or maybe...this baby.
"I am most certain he went this way"One of them muttered as she stared at her.
Then they both began approaching her.
Ramses crawled closer to her and with both arms grabbed one of her legs tight,resting his cheek on it.
A gesture she interpreted as a plea to not let them take him.
She was certain he wasn't theirs but why were they looking for him and what was he?Mia looked behind her and her gaze met those of a baby's on the verge of crying in an attempt to plead for her protection.
"Did you see something unusual here?"one of them asked as they drew closer.
Ramses crawled slightly backwards to conceal himself behind a few grains.
"Something like what?"
"A_baby_perhaps..."
"A baby!"Mia laughed."Hilarious!..what could a baby be doing out here?"
"I know it sounds crazy but_"
"I saw you looking down at something earlier on and don't you think we can smell him too?...we know you have him so hand him over".The maid staring earlier at her demanded in a stern voice.
Mia's gaze hardened.
"I told you...I don't know whom you speak of"
"Then allow us search for him!"
"The field is wide help yourself"Mia said motioning them away with an outstretched hand.
"No!...step aside!"
"You don't get to tell me where and where not to step witch!"Mia snapped.
"Don't make us force you!"They chorused.
"Hmmmpphh!!...No....dont make me hurt you both"
Mia said as she raised her gown and took out a pocket knife from underneath it.
