In the end, Ethan and Scarlett don't go out to fight the Outbreak. Storm Dream Patriarch was a threat, for starters, as there was no surety that the other two could hold him back all the time.

For another, they didn't have to fight and could steal the benefits. Both of them stayed underground, and they could feel the place start shaking as noon arrived. Above ground, multiple huge creatures must be fighting. 

Ethan and Scarlett exchanged a glance and they just sat there without doing anything for an hour more. Suddenly, Ethan took his wife's hand, and they vanished into thin air. The next moment, the duo was above ground.

They had teleported at the top of a tree and from here, they had an amazing visual. A binocular that appeared in their hands helped them see everything in the distance clearly.
