Chapter 48: Unexpected Call From Him

Everything was not within my expectations.

As I walked towards my room, I could feel everything going out of my hands. Many things were starting to fall apart with that single message.

Reaching my room, I plopped onto the bed face-first. Although I told Alice to calm down earlier, I myself had some worries about this. How much did Christopher know about this? And, how much would it be safe to rely on him?

Our level of attachment is not enough for that, yet.

In the future, when our feelings feel deeper and more genuine than just normal liking, that would be the perfect time to expose the darkness that surrounded our past.

In the meantime, dealing with the internal conflict that was slowly building between me and Alice seemed more important than anything.

For now she took a step back, leaving me to handle the mess of the maid. But she wasn't asleep, it felt like she didn't believe in me to deal with it in the right way.
