Chapter 59: Renovation

It has been a while since I have flown back to LA.

I am currently sunbathing on the lounge chair beside my pool.

Suddenly my phone rang.

"Ethan, Cam, and I need your help", I immediately recognized the voice. It was Claire.

"What do you need Claire?", I asked her.

"Cam and I are renovating a little field into a baseball field for Luke's Playoff games. All the fields are already booked. The field I mentioned is in dire condition", Claire asked me for help. I knew Luke's baseball team. Manny was also in it. I watched a few of their games. They were pretty funny to look at.

I didn't have anything to do currently. Due to this, I decided to help Claire.

"I will be coming Claire. What's the address?", I asked her curious as to where the field was located.

Claire told me the address.

I was already walking towards one of my cars and typed the address in the Navigation system.

Soon I started driving. It didn't take long and I soon arrived at the address mentioned by Claire.

After walking onto the field I was quite shocked. The field truly was in a dire state.

I soon saw Claire and Cam walking around the field.

"Claire, Cam. I am here!", I shouted at them.

They turned around and both waved at me. Cam was wearing work trousers and Claire was in her usual clothes.

I walked a few meters towards them and soon talked with them.

"How do you guys wanna turn this field into a baseball field?", I asked them curious about their plan.

"At first we will clean all the trash out of this place. A few volunteer parents of the kids on the baseball team will help us with the rest. We will talk about it later", Cam informed me of their plan.

"That's good. I will start right away", I did as I said and started picking up the trash and putting it all into a trash bag.

The trash bag was then put onto a rented truck.

Soon the volunteers arrived.

It took us a whole afternoon and we weren't even finished yet. The amount of garbage was horrendous.

There were quite a few heavy metal things too.

Like a broken mowing machine or a washing machine.

We all took turns to drive the trash to the garbage dump in the truck.

This whole cleaning the trash action took us an entire three days. On the third, we were finally finished.

"Then what is the next step for you guys?", I asked them wanting to know more about their plan.

"We need to buy and build all the necessary things. For example the artificial grass. We already bought it on the Internet. Could you please pick it up? It is in a nearby supermarket", Claire made her request.

"Of course. I will", I said. It was better than picking up the trash or doing some other things.

I did as I was told and drove towards the supermarket.

The name of the store was Cloud 9.

The store really was nearby and I soon arrived at the store.

Walking in it looked quite common.

"Excuse me. I am here to pick up the artificial grass. The order came from the Wolves baseball team", I said to a clerk.

"Of course, sir. These kind of things are usually stored in the back of the warehouse. I only need to take a quick look at the computer at what grass is yours and then you can pick it up", the clerk said.

"Thanks, Mrs. Sosa", I said to the clerk looking at her name tag.

"No problem. That is my job", Mrs. Sosa said while smiling.

After about five minutes I was informed that I could take the artificial grass with me.

I put it on the truck and soon drove back to the field.

They were already starting to build an orange fence.

I helped them build it. After we were done building the fence we started to lay the grass onto the turf where they would play baseball.

It took quite a while due to the complicated measures that were required. The turf needed to be exactly that big and that long and it needed to look good.

After we were finally done with that the fourth day already started.

Tomorrow the game will start. All the food stalls were already ordered and couldn't be canceled.

There was no back now.

"What do we need to do today?", I asked the two of Claire and Cam for the last part of their plan.

"We need your opinion for something other than the field", Cam said.

"For what?", I asked them confused as to what the problem could be.

"Claire and I want to buy a house, which is very cheap, but Phil and Mitchell are against it and think we couldn't manage to make a profit if we sold it", Cam said the situation.

I knew what they wanted to know without them even asking the question.

"You both need to know that Mitchell and Phil love the both of you very much. They are just worrying about the fact that it could hurt you guys. I am sure that if they see how you transformed that trash field into such a nice turf for baseball they will believe in you. Just look at their faces and actions tomorrow", I said while patting both of them on the shoulder. Mitchell and Phil were these type of people. Especially Phil.

"Now let us go back to the field. What is the last part?", I asked them wanting to finish this quickly.

"We need to mark the lines with this machine there", Cam said pointing at an old machine.

I nodded and memorized the first thing in my mind.

"Then the rest would be decorating the whole place", Claire said the other part.

"That's good. We will surely be able to finish today", I said while making my way to the old machine.

I soon started putting all the lines onto the turf.

After I was finished I helped Claire and Cam decorate the whole place.

When it was already starting to get dark we all looked at the field which wasn't recognisable anymore.

"You did an amazing job", I praised both of them.

"Thanks, Ethan. Without your help we wouldn't have been able to do it", they both thanked me.

"It was completely thanks to you two guys", I told them the truth.

"Besides I am already excited about the game tomorrow", I added shortly afterwards.

The next day arrived soon and everyone soon gathered together and drove towards the field.

The reaction of Phil and Mitchell was as I predicted. They were stunned.

An interesting thing happened though before the game.

Gloria sang the national anthem. It sounded quite funny as she wasn't too skilled in singing and had a heavy accent.

But now to the important part.

The Wolves, the team of Luke, started the game quite average.

Until Manny came onto the field. He was the hitter. He needed to stop the ball from falling into the hands of the fielder.

Manny was visibly nervous and was put under pressure by both Gloria and Jay.

Somehow the ball hit Manny while he was arguing with the two of them.

Manny was stunned but started running. He somehow made it and secured the win for the Wolves.

It was surprising but beautiful.
