Chapter 38: DeDe coming to visit
I was currently at the Dunphys chilling with Haley on her bed.
Suddenly Phil came into the room with Alex and Luke.
"Guys, DeDe is soon gonna come. Your mother's temper isn't quite the best whenever her mother comes. Due to this, I need you all to be on high alert. Act like yourself. We need every manpower. Even you Ethan. DeDe seems to love you. You need to step in with Luke if the two get into an argument"
"I and Luke will be on StandBy", I told Phil.
"I will just be in my room with Ethan", Haley said.
"I will have Cello practice", Alex said.
After that Phil left and the rest left. Me and Haley were alone in her room again. We played on the laptop and started a movie.
After about an hour I heard the bell ringing.
As if planned shortly before Alex started her Cello practice.
"This will probably be your grandmother"
"Wanna go down?", I asked Haley.
"Yes, I wanna see the chaos", Haley said with a mischievous smile.
"Okay, let's go down little witch"
When we were downstairs we heard DeDe say
"I read that in your Diary Claire, I wanted to see if you did drugs", to which Claire only answered,
"Really Mom?", with an angry expression.
I stepped forward and greeted DeDe.
"Hey, DeDe. Long time no see. How is everything going"
I said to her while hugging her. I signaled Claire with my eyes that she could go for a while as I would be talking with DeDe.
Claire thanked me with her eyes.
"Everything is good on me. You know I just met Claire's boyfriend in her youth. Speaking of which. How is your relationship with Haley? Do you guys already have plans for a marriage?", she asked me two questions with the second one being more of a joke.
"Haley and mine relationship is going perfect. As for marriage. I am expecting to marry her sometime, but not now", I said laughing.
"Hey NaNa", Haley said walking into the room.
"Hello Haley", DeDe greeted her too.
Suddenly the doorbell rang.
"Oh, that must be Robbie Sullivan, the boyfriend I told you about Ethan"
"That is a huge problem", I said with a sigh.
From my side, I heard a low snickering.
Haley was laughing.
"Stop laughing Haley or I won't help you with school anymore"
We quickly went towards the front door where we saw Robbie hugging Claire.
Claire was visibly uncomfortable. Luckily the guy quickly let go.
After that the awkwardness only continued with everyone eating dinner with Robbie.
I must say Robbie is a real idiot. He told us the whole time about his relationship with Claire. It was just annoying.
When the dinner was quickly ended he was again going too far with Claire. I wanted to stand up, but luckily Phil was faster than me.
Afterward, I just sat on the couch with Haley.
"Oh, he left his phone", Claire suddenly said.
"Who?", Haley asked curiously.
"Robbie", Phil answered before Claire could.
"I will give it to him", Claire said.
Me and Haley continued watching the movie.
A few seconds later Claire came in again saying
"I can't believe this. My own mother kissing my ex. What the heck", Claire said.
"What?! NaNa kissed your ex?", Haley asked shocked and curious.
My ears also went up. I was curious.
"Nothing", Claire just said and went towards the kitchen.
Afterward, I drove home.
I would soon be seeing Haley again at Lily's birthday party.
I bought her a little motorized car.
Soon on the next day, Lily's birthday arrived.
"Hey Cam and Mitchell. Hey little Lily", I greeted the three of them and gave them my gift.
"Hey Ethan. Thanks a lot", both said.
Soon after the Dunphys and the Pritchetts also arrived.
All waited anxiously and nervously until DeDe arrived.
Gloria even being drunk.
Soon DeDe came.
But with her "boyfriend"
Claire and Mitchell didn't like that.
He suddenly put Mitchell in a chokehold but as a joke.
I started going towards them.
"Let him go", I told Robbie.
"What do you want you cocky brat?!", Robbie said trying to act intimidating acting like a school bully.
"You should let him go. Are you fucking deaf?", I asked annoyed by this guy who probably had his prime in his high school years.
"Let him go", Claire came over and also told him.
"I see what's going on. Claire you still like me. And you brat like Claire and are just jealous, right?", he said with a cocky laugh.
Luckily he let go of Mitchell.
"Should he go Mitchell?", I asked him.
"Please", Mitchell whispered.
I went towards Robbie and stood in front of him. I was higher and more muscular than him, but he seemed to ignore that.
He just pushed me backward.
"Hahaha", I laughed. His push didn't really push me backward.
"Why are you laughing?!", Robbie said taking a swing for a punch.
I just stepped to the left and put my backhand on his outstretched hand which punched in my previous position.
With that he was stumbling to the left.
I kicked him in the foot and now he was lying on the ground.
"Fuck off. This is my last warning", I warned him.
He then started to walk away while cursing.
I first went to Mitchell and Cam and apologized.
"Sorry for the commotion, but I saw you were uncomfortable and wanted to help"
"No worries. Thanks, Ethan", Mitchell said.
I saw DeDe sitting on the bench and walked towards her.
"Sorry for that DeDe, but he went too far", I apologized.
"No problem Ethan. I saw what he did", I talked with her for a few seconds and then went back towards Haley.
While going back I suddenly saw DeDe rushing towards Gloria and both of them fighting again.
I quickly helped Phil calm down both of them.
Afterwards, DeDe left and everything returned to its calm.
The birthday party went on for about another 2 hours.
