Chapter 85: Alchemist First Combat

After talking with Kell of them going to take Euralle on her first monsters subjugation, the bigger men agreed, seeing nothing wrong with the suggestion.

"Just go somewhere we are there no powerful monsters, alright," he ordered the two, the two mages rolled their eyes at his advise.

"Do you really think we will let her fight a powerful monsters from the get go?" Ian asked.

"No, but she might not believe you," Kell pointed at Euralle, causing Ian to realize the oaf is right. Who knew, the way to increase the former muscle head is by sending him to another world.

"Be careful. There is no telling what they will do," the other man whispered, Ian nodded in understanding.

"Don't worry, I will make sure they will not be able to do anything but die if they try to mess with us," Kell make a humming sound, a sign of relief and trust between the two of them.

"Alright, this is your first time fighting monsters. That slime did not count. It caught you by surprise, you hear me. It did not fight you 1 v 1, it her you when your back turned on it," both Fiona and Euralle giggled as Ian continue telling ludicrous stories of how the slime managed to beat the latter.

"Remember the advise the other gave you," Fiona reminded the alchemist.

Before they went, Kell had ordered every one to give her an advise, each one of them. From Lisa, to keep her eyes peeled for any sign of trouble. From Ana, to trust her instinct, while Fiona told her be careful even if things seem peaceful.

As for the two strongest members of the party, Ian told her to never let her guard down while Kell told her do her best to come out on top. Euralle remembered all the advise and prepared herself, as it will be her first time fighting, and hopefully, kill monsters.

She spot her target, a pod of slime jumping around. Preparing herself, she cast Arcane Shot quickly. With the main lesson from the two is to be able to cast spells as quickly as possible, she was able to unleash 5 Arcane Shot under a minute, the five slimes bouncing around destroyed in record time.

After killing the monsters, Euralle remained still, making the two mages worried. They quickly went to his side, only to see her eyes went blank. When she saw them, she asked,

"D-did I let myself get beaten up by these monsters?" her voice cracked. Without a word, both Ian and Fiona hug her, Euralle began to cry her heart out for no reason.

Then again, when you are beaten by a weak monster and realize how weak it is, you will be crying to as you remember the past.

After letting out her tears, and letting out her aggression by killing more slimes pod around them, Euralle able to calm herself, though she seem to make it her job exterminating all slimes she found.

The only reason the two did not stop her is that slimes spawn as long as there is mana, so it will be near impossible to exeterminate all of them, as new one will always pop put the next day even it one make it extinct for the day.

However, while it is to give her combat experience, the little excursion is also to assess her current level, to know how many monsters she can handle on her own.

So, they keep searching, trying to find a perfect number of monsters to let her test her new spells on.

-x-

"10 goblins, should be something you can handle with your current strengths," Ian said, Fiona nodding with him.

Euralle is not so sure but if they trust her to handle the monsters, why could she not trust herself to do it?

She slowly stalk towards the monsters, preparing for them to notice her. She had not make any attempt to cover her scent as goblins seem to have a knack in finding a female. So, any attempt would just be useless unless one prepared for it.

She move as close as she can before the goblins began to sniff around. At that moment, she cast Arcane Shot, the spell tear through the goblins' ranks.

However, she only manage to kill 4 with the remaining six manage to get away as far as possible. They seem to hid behind the trees, hoping to use it as cover as they slowly make their way towards her.

 Big mistake.

Arcane Shot: Curved Variant has one special characteristic besides it's ability to curve and avoid obstacles, the mana inside of it is greater than regular Arcane Shot. It make more dangerous as the spell has more penetrating power, allowing it to kill more enemies as long as they are close, which they are.

She manage to kill the remaining six with 2 of the variant, showing how dangerous her variant spells could be under the right circumstances.

"Looks like small goblins group will not be much of a trouble for you," Ian said.

"That should make you around Iron Adventurers," Fiona summarized.

"Do you want to continue?" he asked. The pink-haired girl seem to ponder over it before nodding. Seeing she wanted to continue, the two did not ask anymore, seeing the resolve and desire in her eyes.

-x-

"This will be a harder foe," Fiona said, eying the large green creature at the back, a hobgoblin. There are some 20 to 30 goblins, and while they possessed a threat, the real danger is the hob.

"I think I can kill it easily, as long as I have the time to cast the spell," Euralle said, eying the monsters. It would be the strongest one he faced so far, but she had more confidence in herself, courtesies of their training.

Without a words she cast Arcane Missile. Similar to the curve variant, it also possessed greater mana, allowing for greater pentrative power.

She cast Arcane Missile, the spell taking longer than Arcane Shot but the time should be worth it. She cast it, the spell began to weave around the goblins. Her first plan is to kill the hob right away, but she realize the sheer number would overwhelmed him.

So, she decide to thin it out, her Arcane Missile manage to kill 8 in one go. However, the confusion will last only for so long. His next Arcane Missile is for the big bastard at the back.

The Arcane Missile, unlike the earlier one, weave around the goblins, not hitting it. Instead it head straight towards the hob, who take a goblin and use it as a shield. The Arcane Missile curved upward, seemingly missing completely.

Not noticing the spell making a U-turn, the hob sniffed out the caster. As it sniffed it out, the Arcane Missile hit it at the top of the hob's head, killing it completely.

Not realizing the danger they are in, the goblins were taken down by a single spell, Arcane Shot; Curved Variant.

-x-

"You did good, Euralle, you are more than ready for the team," Euralle smiled before falling face first on the ground, the sign she was tired beyond words.

Sharing a smile, Ian carried her again, ready to get her involve in a subjugation commission.
