Escape

The land stretched out desolately, but it wasn't the yellow sand Lucas had initially encountered. On the horizon, a massive army surged, an endless and boundless force! Beneath the setting sun, about to dip below the horizon, a sea of silver armor radiated a dazzling glow! Thousands of cavalry formed a vast and imposing formation, rolling towards them. The knights in silver armor were attired similarly to the three individuals they had encountered earlier, and the pheasant feathers atop their helmets seemed like a swirling jungle amidst such a formation! Dozens of black flags were raised throughout the military ranks, fluttering in the wind.

What kind of place was this? How could there be such a massive army? What had happened to him? What was all of this? Finally, he noticed that the place he was in now wasn't the land where he faced the sandstorm! At this moment, his gaze became vacant, his mind in turmoil. The realization of having just killed two people now truly struck him, making him feel nauseous. What the hell is going on? Is the world messed up, or am I messed up?

The girl pulled Lucas's hand, and he snapped out of it. Regardless, this sizable group and the three people from earlier were allies. Staying here likely meant becoming minced meat. It was time to run! Other matters could be dealt with later! The two of them ran down the small hill as if flying, and the girl's white horse obediently grazed there. Lucas took hold of another horse and mounted it. He had quite a bit of experience riding horses for outdoor trips. They didn't bother saying much. after all, they couldn't understand each other. Giving the horse a whip, they swiftly fled southward. Lucas glanced back at the spot where he had fought desperately just now, and the two corpses still lay there. For some reason, he suddenly seemed to understand that his life would never be the same as before...

In a panicked escape, they raced frantically all the way.

Lucas and the girl rode their horses desperately southward, with the ominous roar of the pursuing army seemingly echoing behind them. The girl's horse seemed exceptional, if she hadn't been injured, causing some issues with controlling the horse, Lucas would probably have been left behind. Both gritting their teeth, they persisted in their escape. They traversed dry creek beds, undulating hills, and sparse forests, as if running to the end of the world. Behind the girl, Lucas could see the arrow on her shoulder, the arrowhead broken, but the wound continued to bleed profusely amidst the violent gallop. The girl's white scarf had turned a striking crimson. Still, she did not stop, only slumping on the horse, weakly persevering. Somehow, Lucas felt a pang of heartache. A girl so beautiful should have been cherished and cared for like a precious gem. He had no idea what had happened to her, prompting such a desperate escape. As for his own predicament, Lucas had yet to make sense of it. But the heightened emotions now left him unable to contemplate anything else!

After an indeterminate time, Lucas felt his buttocks almost numb from the relentless jostling. The two horses finally halted by a small stream, their chests heaving violently, their manes drenched in sweat. Then, the girl on the horse let out a whimper and collapsed heavily. The moonlight shone on her long hair, resembling a vivid dream.

A campfire had been kindled, with winter-dry wood fueled by solid materials. It blazed vigorously. A small outdoor pot simmered with boiling water from ice chunks. After completing these tasks, Lucas, gasping for breath with his weary body, sat beside the unconscious girl. She remained in a feverish slumber, her delicate face flushed with an unhealthy redness. Her body writhed restlessly on the ground, muttering something incoherent under her breath.

It was time to tend to her injuries, and thankfully, Lucas had come well-prepared with a first aid kit. All the necessary tools for wilderness first aid were at his disposal. Lucas threw his military knife into the pot to sterilize it. He then propped the girl on his legs and began to unbutton her clothes, struggling to figure out where to start. The girl's attire seemed to be a tangled maze of layers, and Lucas couldn't fathom how it was worn! Sweat trickled down Lucas's forehead as he frantically tried to unravel the intricate clothing. In the end, with determination, he resorted to cutting her clothes with scissors.

As the layers of garments slipped away, Lucas seemed to forget to breathe. In the moonlight, the girl revealed her glistening, porcelain-like skin and gracefully curved teenage bosom. Moonlight bathed her in the gentlest glow. Entranced by the girl's body, akin to a work of art, Lucas involuntarily stopped his hands. ... What a heavenly masterpiece! It wasn't until his gaze landed on the wound on her shoulder that he snapped back to reality. He couldn't help but lightly slap himself, "Taking advantage of someone's vulnerability, how disgraceful!"

The arrow penetrated deep, but the arrowhead didn't protrude. Lucas, holding the disinfected military knife, clenched his teeth as he gestured for a while. Watching the girl's serene face with her subtly blinking golden eyelashes, he couldn't bring himself to do it. However, the wound had turned purple, and without taking action, it wouldn't do. Finally, he made the cut.

The girl let out a sharp scream, her eyes suddenly wide open. Lucas had prepared a towel in advance, promptly stuffing it into her mouth. But the girl's hands clawed onto his thigh, twisting hard. Lucas winced in pain, trying to keep his hands steady, and sweat on his dark face dripped down like raindrops. Eventually, he picked at the arrowhead with the tiger tooth, forcibly digging it out. The girl, seemingly in extreme pain, emitted a muffled groan before fainting again.
