Chapter 2: I can even break iron with my punch
Then, after some time, the receptionist told them to stand in a line and follow her. When entering the Explorer Hall, they saw a city or what once was a city, in ruins. Seeing that, everyone was surprised, and the receptionist spoke.
"I am Nana, one of your instructors," and then told the names of a few and asked them to leave. The children were surprised by this sudden news.
One of them said, "Why are you suddenly asking us to leave? The exam has not even begun, and we didn't even do anything wrong."
Hearing that, Nana replied, "Because I haven't seen curiosity in your eyes. To become a good Explorer, one must have curiosity about their surroundings, but you few haven't shown any of that. That's why I asked a few of you to leave. Now hurry up and leave, or you will not be allowed to participate even next year."
Hearing her, those whose names she had taken left the hall. Now only four children were remaining. Then she asked them for their names.
Gary, seeing an opportunity to showcase himself, came forward and spoke, "My name is Gary Crystalfield. I use physical ability and my trusted sword to fight. I choose to become an Explorer because I love the challenge of going to the unknown and finding new things."
Then Nana asked them to go back in line and asked the second one to come forward. He introduced himself and got back in line. Then a girl came and started speaking.
She was a girl with a height of 5.8 feet, with silver hair and black eyes, wearing a blue top that looked a little above. You could see her massive breasts, and jeans showed all her curves. Her figure was like that of a goddess.
"Hello, everyone. I am Ema Scarlet. I am proficient in using SOMA. I hope you will treat me well." After saying that, she gave a bright smile. Seeing her smile, Gary's face turned red.
"Is this what it means to fall in love?" Gary thought to himself.
Hearing her say she can use SOMA, Nana was surprised. "It's not that surprising, as she is a Scarlet. Their family is known to have a high talent for using SOMA." Nana thought.
Then Nana pointed at Alex and asked him to come forward. Alex, noticing her pointing at him, came forward, and then he spoke, "Hello, my name is Alex. I am an orphan and will become the best Explorer ever." Alex straightened his shoulders, chin lifted with assurance as he addressed the room.
"That's quite a bold claim, seeing you didn't even mention what type of power you use," Nana spoke, looking at Alex.
"What is this power you spoke of? I don't understand," Alex spoke.
Gary, hearing Alex's words, laughed loudly, saying, "That's to be expected of a useless garbage like you. You don't even have powers, but you claim to become the best. Garbage like you damages our name; you should be thrown out."
"That's enough. I told you not to cause a problem, but you dare disobey my order," Nana spoke. Then she looked at Alex and spoke, "There are three types of magical power. One that allows you to buff your body to fight, called physical. The second power you can use with your mind, called Mentalist. The last one uses the essence of the soul to gain Elemental power called soul. And then those who can use two powers combined, like those who can use both physical and mental power, that's PHME. Mental and soul are called SOMA, and lastly, there are those who can use both physical and soul, called soul users, and the difference between the upper and lower three is massive. There are the power users, so which one are you, boy?"
Hearing her, Alex couldn't understand a single thing. Then he said, "I don't know, but I can fight. I am quite strong. I can even break iron with my punch."
Looking at his confidence, Nana smiled, saying, "You are quite an interesting guy. We will see how strong you are in a few minutes."
