Chapter 8: Performance

[3rd person POV]

Metropolis, metro square.

A man wearing a light blue t-shirt and black jeans sits down in one of the benches. He is holding a guitar in his hands.

Between the fast moving crowd of one of the most iconic places on the planet, the man starts playing his guitar, and slowly but surely the crowd starts to pause and listen in to the notes being brought to life by the strumming of the instrument.

And after enough people have gathered....

[3rd person POV]

The audience watched on as the man played the instrument. His performance so far had been nothing short of mesmerizing. He was strumming the guitar lightly and yet the music seemed to fill the entire square. It seemed like he was conveying emotion with every note being played. The guitarist passionately plucks the strings, creating a symphony of melodic notes that dance through the air. Fingers gracefully move along the frets, producing a harmonious blend of chords and intricate solos. The musician's focused expression reflects dedication to the craft, each strum resonating with precision. Whether strumming gentle ballads or unleashing energetic riffs, the guitarist's connection to the instrument is palpable, transforming a simple performance into a captivating musical journey that captivates listeners.

And then the man begins singing."If I had to live my life without you near me.The days would all be empty

The nights would seem so long...." As the words escape his mouth, the crowd seems to double in size. He pays no attention to the people nearby as he continues with his performance, as of the only thing that matters to him is his craft.

The melody follows a simple pattern, accompanied by a subtle rhythm. His vocal range is moderate, neither too high nor too low. The lyrics convey a straightforward narrative, devoid of embellishments. His singing style is unassuming, lacking any embellishment. The sound resonates with a genuine, unpretentious quality, as he focuses on conveying the song's message with clarity rather than showcasing vocal acrobatics.

'Wow, who is this guy' thinks one of the people standing nearby.

'I can tell this guy will go far.' another thought.

'Is he the one who wrote this song?' questioned one person who was paying particular attention to the lyrics. 'They seem like they're written by a professional.'

'What a beautiful performance. This made my evening' thought the person who had first stopped near the singer.

Between this crowd, stood a man in his thirties who had decided that he'd change the young musicians life forever.

[Robert Brown POV]

I was a professional, who had been working with Hunterville labels for 30 years now. It was the oldest label company on the planet that was still running as well as one of the largest. I was well respected within the company as I had given it 3 of its top 10 albums.

I walk through metro square, taking a break from the long arduous recording session at the studio. 'Oh god, this newbie is a headache. One popular song and they think they're the shit.' I cursed in my mind. 'One of these days I'm gonna shoot someone.' The new artist I had been shooting with got popular through the internet and got the biggest ego boost on the planet. And now he thought that his songs would never fail no matter how shit they were.

' I'm in pieces, fix me... Who wrote this bullcrap a 9 year old? ' I question. As I'm walking down the square I hear a voice.

"If the road ahead is not so easy Our love will lead the way for us." a voice cries out. It's emotional but not melodramatic. In rhythm but playful. 'Damn that's not half bad.' I evaluated the musician who seemed to be in his 20s. Not the best thing I've heard by a long shot, but after that hell in the studio, it's quite refreshing.'

'You know what? I think this kid will go far if he has some supervision. This kind of crowd is proof. I'll give him a shot.' I decided.

As the performance came to an end the audience came out of there trance. The song was short and yet it had mesmerized everyone present. And then the applause started. Everyone was awed by the performance and they showed it. Everyone was clapping and a few were crying.

And then a middle aged man approached the young performer. "I'm Robert Brown. That was quite the performance you put on, kid. I'll tell you what, you've impressed me. Here's my number, call me, if you wanna enter the big leagues that is." Saying this he moved through the crowd exiting the area.

The people who overheard this thought, 'good for him' as they truly felt the young man deserved it. After this the rest of the crowd began moving towards the man to praise and commend him for his performance.
