Suddenly, Snake-eyes covered his eye with his hand and groaned. Ethan had smashed the corner of the hardcover book in his hand into his eye. Fresh blood began to escape from between the man's fingers.
Snake-eyes's face turned red as it became drenched with blood. Everyone there could tell that if the angle had been off by just a centimeter, it would have pierced through his pupil. Ethan spoke in a low voice to his subordinate.
"You can't use such vulgar words. She is a detective after all."
Ethan's breaths remained even.
"I will keep that in mind, sir."
"It looks like we will not grow close as Chief Hanks wanted."
Lily grasped her burning throat and watched as Ethan turned his back on them once again. His spotless glasses now held flecks of blood, but instead of wiping it away, he took them off and hung them on his suit pocket. Almost as if something like this happened quite often.
