Her head was aching. A throbbing, persistent pain. It didn't leave her alone. Didn't stop.

She could hardly think.

She didn't even know what was going on. Everything was a blur, a haze.

Her thoughts were jumbled and mixed-up, like they'd been stuffed into a blender.

She couldn't sort through them, not easily, not when it took all her concentration just to breathe in and out, slowly. Her body was heavy. She couldn't move.

Couldn't shift to make her muscles and skin and nerves stop hurting. Couldn't even open her eyes to see where she was or what was going on.

It was just. Too. Much.

She was too weak and exhausted to do it.

So, instead she laid there.

Drifting in the haze of confusion, her body burning with a pain she couldn't understand. A fever that seemed to have no source and no cause, not that she could recall.

She whimpered, trying to speak. Her throat hurt too much to let out more than a pathetic sound.
