Chapter 299: I'm not spelunking, I'm cave dabbling

They did not, in fact, make it to the house they were planning to. It wasn't a surprise, of course, and fortunately they didn't have to camp in some clearing and worry about wolves and everything else.

They ended up in a damp cave, instead.

Her husbands left the carriage to sleep on the cave floor, allowing Isabelle to stretch out on the comfortable cushion of the carriage - sheltered further from any wind and dampness inside the carriage - alongside her kitten.

It was incredibly dark in the carriage.

Her little baby stared up at her.

She could tell, because his big, round cat eyes gathered what little light was in the cave and reflected it enough for her to see them even in the dark.

"Yes, Snowball?" She murmured, smiling down at the curious kitten. "Is it not bedtime just yet for you, huh...?" She cooed.

"Mrrrrmrrwm..." Snowball replied, pressing his nose into her shoulder and sniffing loudly.
