Chapter 195: I'm not zoning out, I'm attempting focus

Isabelle yawned and rubbed her eye. She wasn't bedridden from sickness anymore, but listening to the councilman prattle on about something that seemed really trivial made her feel like she ought to be again.

But there was nothing for it. This had to get done.

"Yes, and as I'm sure you'll recall, our records show that the treasury's surplus of gold reserves is currently in surplus, but our deficit in copper reserves is even higher, thus requiring additional revenue sources be generated in order to balance out-"

She suppressed another yawn and rubbed her eyes again. She blinked several times in rapid succession to stave off fatigue, and tried her hardest to pay attention as best she could. But she felt sluggish and drowsy.

The meeting room's stone walls felt especially cold today, like her bones might freeze in place from sitting here too long.
