Chapter 43: Actually Got A Quest

After searching for several minutes, Barry finally found a park with a river flowing in the middle.

He deliberately went a little further than the others to do scouting because he had the ability to escape better than the others if the situation got bad.

Barry knows that they need a lot of water, but this place seems too exposed. They can be easy targets from various directions.

Barry considered several possibilities. Then he decided to use a bottle to get water and brought it to Victoria.

He first looked around. There are some mutated animals here but none of them look strong. Maybe they were just Level 3 or 4 mutated animals.

Because there weren't too many of them for now, Barry decided to move straight towards the river.

He always activates his Gravity Manipulation to form an invisible shield 2 to 3 centimeters thick around his body.

Barry is starting to fully understand how his Magic Power works now. It will be drained depending on how much he is willing to use it. And depending on how much he uses his Magic Power, the effect of his skill will also be greater.

However, all of his skills are still at Level 1. Barry doesn't know how he can increase the Level of his skills.

He can't allocate the points he got from leveling up because they are specific to his Attributes.

There is still so much he doesn't know. But somehow Barry is sure he will figure it out along the way.

He just hoped that he wouldn't die first because he didn't know useful information about his power.

While thinking that Barry slashes his sword at a nearby mutated rabbit. The rabbit moves very fast but Barry, who is already at Level 9, is not an opponent for the poor rabbit.

He slashes at some more mutated animals until finally he reaches the river.

Barry immediately took water to fill his 2-liter bottle. Afterward, he immediately returned to where the others were waiting.

"This will be enough for 10 potions," Victoria said as she got the water from Barry.

"That's good to hear," Barry replied. But his tone didn't sound too happy. 'This maybe will run out in ten minutes. Or less.'

With the amount of his Magic Power and how much he has to consume to kill a horde of monsters, Barry feels that its use is still ineffective.

But that's what he has now so Barry thinks he can only use what he has.

'I will increase my Magic Power the next time I level up.'

"We have to keep moving. Let's not waste time here," Barry said to the group.

Then, he looked at Anna and spoke. "Anna, are you okay? How do you feel?"

Anna looked at Barry with a tired look. Then she let out a sigh. "I'm fine. I will try to kill more."

Barry pursed his lips. He felt a little worried about Anna. She is a middle-aged woman so it will definitely be difficult for her to adapt to everything that is happening and the new forces in her body.

But, if she wants to survive, she must realize that she must master her power. Barry might be able to provide a little bit of protection and help. But he can't keep doing that.

They keep moving. Along the way, they encounter a lot of weak zombies and mutated animals. But that's all.

Their level increase wasn't that much, which made Barry feel a little frustrated.

The figure says that a day here equals a minute in the real world. That made him a little relieved because they wouldn't waste much time. Fortunately.

Barry finished chugging another bottle of Magic potion. Likewise Elaine and the others.

"I still haven't found any bow, Danny," Barry said.

"Me too."

Danny looks more frustrated because he can't kill monsters faster with his rifle. That's still a problem until now.

Suddenly, a writing appeared in their vision.

[ You got a Quest! ]

'A quest?!' Barry frowned in confusion. The others are the same.

[ Quest: The City's Past. ]

[ A dark force descended into this city after a scientist did something fatal. The citizens turn into zombies and mutated creatures.

The scientist decides to perform a ritual that he hopes can return everything to its normal state.

However, the scientist instead summoned an unknown force that brought unimaginable disaster to the city. ]

[ Main Objective: Kill the Heart of Desolation to free the curse that befell the city. ]

[ Reward: 10,000 exp. ]

A few moments after that text appeared in front of them, they could only stare with wide eyes full of confusion.

Why is there something like this? Now this all looks more and more similar to what is in a game.

Barry still can't understand it. But he pressed the matter to the back of his head for now.

Whatever this is, this is real. So what he has to do now is just keep pushing forward by doing whatever he has to do to survive.

Moreover, the rewards offered to them are quite large. With this, they should be able to rise to Level 20 much faster than they previously thought.

"Okay. I guess everyone got the same message, yeah?" Barry asked the group.

They nodded in response.

"I'm also confused about what actually happened. But, we just have to do it. Have you seen the reward? That's a lot of exp," Barry continued.

"Where should we go now?" Elaine asked.

"That's-"

Before Barry could answer, another text appeared in front of their vision again.

[ Objective 1: Go to The City's amusement park! ]

Barry didn't think they would get a clue like this. He thought that they have to find everything themselves.

"Let's go."

After getting clear directions, they rushed to find the amusement park.
