Chapter 18: You Can't See Me!
Barry saw something that made his eyes widen in surprise.
'They're not that strong. I think with all the equipment they have they are at least Level 5 or more.'
It turns out that the five people were only at Level 3. The man who spoke the most among them, who had been looking at Elaine with that disgusting lewd eyes, was at Level 4.
There are even some of them who don't have any skills at all.
'At this rate, maybe I'll have a chance.'
He is now at Level 7 with 2 active skills and 3 passive ones. Moreover, one of them is a Rare grade skill, Gravity Manipulation.
He also has Martial Arts skills that can enable him to fight and control his body well when using Gravity Manipulation.
When using Insightful Gaze on them, Barry can see their Level, Life, Attributes and 1 skill.
He doesn't know whether he can only see 1 skill or because they only have one maximum skill. He couldn't see Class, Race and the amount of Exp they had.
He thought that perhaps that was the limit he could see when his Insightful Gaze was still at Level 1.
Barry was already targeting a woman in the back who had quite useful skills.
The man at the front shouted orders as he walked leading them closer.
"Let's go give them some lessons."
The Level 4 man didn't seem afraid even though Elaine had shown how she shot lightning at them. He created a Magic Shield that circled the bodies of his four friends like a tube leaving the tops of their heads and feet exposed, while they walked closer.
"You have a plan?" Elaine asked.
"There's no time for a plan. We can only fight them head-on," Barry replied in a tone that sounded unnaturally calm for the situation.
However, in Elaine's ears, the calm tone made her calm too. Somehow, she also felt that Barry could handle this.
"Your lightning attacks won't be able to penetrate my Magic Shield," the man in front spoke while pointing at Elaine with his nailed bat. Then aimed his bat at Barry. "And I'm sure you don't have any strong skills."
"What makes you so sure?" Barry asked in a flat tone. Even though he actually wanted to laugh.
"I mean, look at you. You just... look weak."
Barry can't help but let out a snort and a slight grin. Even when the world has become like this they don't learn. Once this mysterious power has come into this world, physical appearance can hardly be used as a reference to determine a person's abilities and strength.
The man and his friends of course noticed the grin on Barry's face. They became agitated and quickened their pace and gripped the bat tightly. As if he couldn't wait to taste Barry and Elaine's blood.
"You just fight as hard as you can. Let me handle the rest," Barry said to Elaine.
"Okay!" Elaine nodded firmly.
The man laughed. "Look at this guy, acting tough in front of his girlfriend. James."
The man on his left, the one called James, raised his bat then ran towards the two of them.
Barry whispered to Elaine. "He has the skills to enhance his strength. I'll handle him."
Elaine nodded, deciding to believe him and Barry also ran towards the man.
"Ha! Dumbass!" The man looked at Barry with a look full of disdain because he was approaching him. Of course, the man didn't know that Barry had seen his skill and prepared a way to beat him.
Barry uses his Stealth. His body disappeared from the man's sight, making him dumbfounded and stopped in his tracks.
Its not just him who is dumbfounded but also the other four. The man looked around looking for Barry but found nothing, he started to enter a panicked state.
"Frank! What should I do?!" James turned to Frank, desperately asking for his help.
"Don't be a fucking coward! He just become invisible! He won't be able to do anything to you!" Frank – the Level 4 – said.
"O-Oka-"
Before James could finish his words, the top of his head was bleeding. A moment later a previously invisible dagger was seen stuck there.
Frank lost for words.
James falls down, dead. The dagger was still stuck in his head. Barry left the dagger there because the weapon was almost destroyed.
Instead, he took James' bat and a crystal that came out of his body. The bat immediately became invisible once it was in his hands.
Barry grinned in his invisible mode. Barry became even more amazed at how useful this skill was when he saw them confused and panicked.
"Vero! Use your power!" Frank turned to one of the women holding a crossbow.
Vero nodded and immediately closed her eyes.
Barry knows her skills. It was Enhanced Hearing. Before she managed to use her skill, however, Barry ran towards her while using his Gravity Manipulation. He must kill the woman as soon as possible.
*BLARRR!*
"You forgot about me, huh!" Elaine, who had been standing from a distance, shot a bolt of lightning at them. Apart from hitting the four of them at once, the lightning also produced a loud sound and made Vero's enhanced ears hurt.
"Argh!" Vero let out a scream of pain.
Even though the lightning wasn't strong enough to penetrate Frank's Magic Shield, it was enough to disrupt his plans.
Barry ran towards the healer woman while breaking the crystal containing James' skills.

Frank gritted his teeth. Then channeled more Magic Power and created a shield above his head. He wants to create an additional shield for his friends but he doesn't have enough Magic Power.
"Don't be afraid! He won't be able to penetrate my shield. Just protect your heads!" Frank said.
They all turned their backs to each other and kept watch for Barry's arrival. Those who originally acted strong can now only feel the fear of invisible death.
They thought that Barry would not be able to penetrate the Magic Shield because of that they felt they still had a little sense of security.
However, Barry now has a skill that he got from their fallen friend.
Barry activates the Enhanced Strength skill, making his strength increase by 25% from its original points.
Not only that, Barry also used Gravity Manipulation to pull the woman with healer abilities towards him.
The woman was pulled with a great force thereby increasing the damage she would receive.
*CRACK!*
Barry hit the woman's Magic Shield and destroyed it instantly.
