Chapter 13: The Five
Athena, one of the strongest Defender known throughout Chars, this is because of her talent, a special SSS Rank talent, known as Ability Learning, it is just like the infinite replication of Eve, but limited to only abilities of an individual and cannot learn anything else, such as talent of the individual.
She is known as a copycat and always avoided so as not to disclose their secret ace card to her.
Because of this, the dean of the Safeguard Academy, recruited her to teach the special students since she is well adept in various abilities.
???: "my name is Athena and I will be your instructor during your stay here"
Athena said as she sized up everyone seated here and knew most of their characters through their facial expression except from a certain Lucifer Morningstar.
Athena: "interesting"
Derek: "I'm Derek Gale, miss Athena"
Athena just looked at the brown hair boy and nodded her head and said.
Athena: "as you all know, the special talents are rare to come by which results in the low number of students in the special class, but that does not mean you are truly special, if you cannot even make good use of your special talents, then how are you special compared to the other talents out there, so that's why I am here to guide you to make good use of your talent, any questions?"
Athena stated her reason for being here and also to inflate any ego they have because of their special talents even if it wasn't needed.
After a brief silence, Athena, continued.
Athena: "seeing as there is no question, follow me, let me show you around the Academy, also just so you know, your class begins tomorrow"
Athena said as she walked out of the hall with the dean as Lucifer stood up and began to walk away ignoring everyone else.
Eve: "hey, wait for me"
Eve said as she hurriedly followed Lucifer.
Derek: "why is he like that, or perhaps, is it that he is dumb?"
BAM!!
Francisca: "why are you so stupid, first you lose your cool and introduced yourself to the instructor when she didn't even asked and now, you are asking if someone is dumb when he spoke which all of us saw, did you perhaps switch your brain for your talent?"
Francisca said as she slapped her brainless brother's head, for being a fool.
???: "are you guys going to continue your bicker or are you coming?"
The Gale siblings turned to look at a black haired girl, standing close to the door with an expressionless face.
She is Freya Bastion, cousin of Barry Bastion, her father is the older brother of Barry's Father but due to his talent and strength being low, he lost the patriarch seat to his younger brother.
Francisca: "hah, we are coming"
Francisca said as she dragged her dimwitted brother and ran to join the rest.
An hour later
Outside the hall
Athena: "as you can all see, this is everything the Academy has to offer, now let's go to your dorms"
Athena as she took the special students to another area.
Athena: "this is where you will be staying in the Safeguard Academy, the houses are given to you based on a ranking, which is also based on your talent, but if you do not like your ranking, you are free to challenge who ever you want to take their spot as we encourage internal competition"
The students saw a massive wide area which houses mansions of varying sizes and a number on them.
Derek: "wow, they are so large, I wonder who will be second in the rankings, as my first place is guaranteed"
Derek said as he was confident in the talent he awakened, even if he was not ranked first, he will be only a matter of time before he will take the first place cementing his title as this year's strongest defender.
Francisca: "hey, don't get ahead of yourself, don't you see that there are others with us?"
Francisca said as she saw every one looking in their direction, including Athena, their instructor.
Athena: "don't get ahead of yourself, your talent is good but don't underestimate others talents, do you understand"
Derek nodded his heads at her world.
Athena: "good, now once you are allocated your resident, you will find your academy uniform inside, you have today to rest and tomorrow we begin class properly, your dean will take care of the rest, now if you will excuse me"
Athena said as she left them not wanting to be there when the rank is being called as she knew someone among them won't like what he will hear.
Dean sighed as he saw her leaving and decided to face the students.
Dean: "alright, as you've all heard from your instructor, that's everything about the Safeguard Academy, now for why I am here, your resident will be given to you based on your Talent, so don't get angry or anything, you can simply challenge any one you deem unworthy of their positions, now for the first place.
Lucifer Morningstar - First place
Eve Sinclair - Second place
Derek Gale - Third place
Francisca Gale - Fourth place
Freya Bastion - Fifth place
That's your positions in the rankings, you can go check our your resident, bye"
The dean said as he left, initially he wanted Eve to be the first place, but when he heard about Lucifer's performance during Eve's party, he quickly changed his mind and placed him as the top rank student, as he knew Derek will be a hothead and try to challenge Lucifer for the first position, he wanted to see Lucifer's real strength as even the awakening stone could not detect it.
Derek: "what is the meaning of this, I'm ranked third place, how can that be?"
Derek said as he knew his capabilities, even before he awakened, he was unmatched among his peers based on his physical strength alone, then after he awakened, he was even more sure of himself and now, he was seeing this.
Derek: "I can't accept this, you, I challenge you"
Lucifer looked at Derek which hands were pointed towards him and sighed as he has already figured out, that this was what that show - off dean intended from the start.
Lucifer: "I cannot accept your offer, now, as you can see I'm pretty much tired from everything today, so if you don't mind, I will be leaving"
Lucifer said as he walked away to pause in his tracks when he heard Derek's next word.
Derek: "not today, what about next week, by then we are all fully prepared"
Lucifer inhale heavily before exhaling, then he turned to Derek and said.
Lucifer: "find, I will indulge you, but for now, can you just let me go?"
