panic

[July 9th 2004]

"Beep…beep…beep…" the annoying sound of a repetitive "Beep" woke me from my foggy sleep.

Slowly, my eyes opened to the overly bright lights that filled my surroundings.

As soon as my heavy eyelids opened, I had to close them a few times, to avoid the stinging itch in my eyes.

But slowly that feeling faded slightly, and I was able to crack my eyes open, and look at my surroundings.

'Bright' I thought to myself, as a blurry room filled my view, like one of those vague art pieces you see at art galleries, where a building or a person seems blurred.

"Beep!" The sound made me flinch slightly, even though it's the sound that woke me.

Slowly, I turned my head to the side, and looked at the heart monitor.

As I turned my head, my neck cracked and popped a few times, stiff from being unused.

The heart monitor was some type you would see on TV shows, with the small screen that showed my pulse, and a bunch of wires that came out of the bottom, and were probably connected to me.

As I looked, I didn't realize the blankness that filled my head, right up to that moment.

Fire…a screaming man that can escape his chair, as the humvees head right for him, weightless, darkness.

The images popped up in my head, one after the other like a movie reel.

My heart started to pound in my chest, and sweat started to accumulate on me.

Before I could recover from the shock, the images played again in my head, but instead of it being a movie reel, I was there, in the plane, as it started to crash.

My breaths became short, as I clutched at the sheets, trying to leave my waking nightmare.

My breathing became harder and shorter, until I was suffocating, and the edges of my memories started to darken.

Then someone or someones grabbed me by the arms, but I couldn't see them, as I was still in the plane, and was seeing fire.

Landtuhl regional medical center (LRMC/ Germany) [ American military hospital] (3rd person)

Chief medical officer David grunge, was on his daily walk through, of all the wards in the hospital.

At the moment he was walking through the intensive care unit, making sure everything in the hospital was moving smoothly.

As he was passing by the nurse center, one of the alarms started to go off, with a steady trill.

The few nurses that were in the center all looked to the flashing light that signified the room number.

"It's room 35!" One of them urgently said, as all ,but one to take care of the nurse center, took off for the room.

David was the first to reach the door, which he swung open, and charged in.

His first sight of the patient was of him writhing, as if he was having a seizure.

"Grab hold of his other arm!" David ordered, as he grabbed the young man's right arm, and a nurse his left.

'not a seizure.' David thought, as he realized the patient wasn't having the involuntary muscle convulsions, but looked to be panicking.

"He's having a panic attack." David said, as he looked to the heart monitor that was next to him.

"His heart beat is rising. It's 147 BPM!" One of the nurses said in a clipped tone.

'shit' David thought.

Turning to one of the nurses, David ordered.

"Get a syringe with propofol, now." He ordered one of the nurses, who was holding one of the young man's legs.

Letting go of the young man, the nurse made her way to the door, but before she could get there, a shockwave blew everyone in the room off their feet, and to the walls, as a blue light filled the room, and the patient who had been mostly quiet to that point, now started to scream, as his eyes shone with an electric blue light.

"Director, we are picking up some weird energy spikes in Germany, from a satellite." A seasoned veteran agent of shield, named Coulson said, as he pushed open the large doors to his bosses office.

Looking up from his computer screen from behind his desk, Director Fury spoke.

"Strange how?"

Placing a still hot from the printer piece of paper on the director's desk, Coulson continued.

"a NASA satellite that they have been testing to read the earth's electromagnetic fields picked up a spike of it on earth itself in a concentrated area around a US military hospital in Germany."

The director leaned back in his chair.

"And what Is that supposed to mean, is it a dangerous priority, or just some weird shit, that can be put on the back burner." Fury asked the suit-wearing agent.

"Well sir, electromagnetic fields are created by electrically Charged objects, and from the readings, it could be dangerous…very dangerous, sir." Agent Coulson said, as he clasped his wrist with one hand, and stood straight.

Fury dropped the paper to his desk, and let out a sight.

"Send a team, I want Barton on it as the lead. If he can't handle it, we will send in everything we have." Fury said, as Coulson nodded his head, and left the room.

But unbeknownst to them, a man on another level of shield, was getting the same report, and sending out his own team.

This is a short chapter, because the next chapter is where the MC will first use his powers, and I would rather have it as a whole chapter instead of it being chopped up into different perspectives.
