Alex swung the blade towards the monster's neck, but the orc just released his sword, fixated on the wall, and dodged to the back, getting back with a powerful punch on Alex's face.
The young man fell on the orc's sword. Cutting his cheek and making a profound gush, but not enough to hit the inside of the man's mouth. The orc pressed the attack with his gauntlet hands, trying to hit Alex in the face again, but the devil's hand host kept dodging and swinging. He made cuts in the monster's neck, chest, and legs, but he didn't seem to care.
As Alex thrust the sword toward the naked chest of the orc leader, the monster dodged to the side and hit Alex in the face again. The punch was so strong that Alex flew again, hitting another wall of the square building.
"You are good, but not that good," the orc scoffed, smiling with his terrible scar on his mouth. He kept strolling, Alex's dagger still in his belly.
It was time for Alex to use everything he had in his arsenal.
Alex led the blade to his mouth and licked the orc's blood from it. The elf saw astonishment in the orc's face.
"Oh, you are kinda fucked in the head, aren't you?" The orc asked,
"You have no idea," Alex muttered as he felt the rush of power running through his body. He was energized like he had drunk three cups of hot dragonseed tea, but he was not simply more attentive to the fight. Alex was stronger, faster, and sharper. His attributes increased as he consumed the blood, or was arcanite light in another state?
He couldn't know now, but he felt his teeth growing slowly and turning into tusks. Alex concentrated his breath, trying to undermine the transformation. He was making it slow, but the tusks quickly left his mouth.
Taking advantage of his newfound strength, Alex ran towards the orc, dodging furniture and ducking one of the monster's punches. Alex swung his blade in an upward movement and hit the creature's extended arm, making him flinch. He struck again, aiming for the orc's shoulder, but was intercepted by another punch that dropped him flat to the ground.
The monster descended with a sequence of punches. Anger took control of him. Every hit Alex delivered to the orc made him closer to the bloodlust. Hence, Alex kept rolling on the ground, ducking and dodging, trying to find a window of opportunity to deliver a final and robust blow. The Devil's Hand helped him to overcome the creature's strength and speed.
"Keep it coming!" Alex shouted, feeling the tusks now visible.
The orc was again astonished by Alex's sight, making a new opening. Alex swung against the monster's neck, and he flinched to the back, not getting his throat cut by one centimeter. He took three steps back with one hand on his neck,
"What kind of magic is that?" The orc asked, but Alex didn't reply. He rushed against the monster, swinging hard. The creature deflected the blow with his gauntlet and, with the other hand, slapped Alex's face, making him fly once again.
The creature's eyes started to glow red, and Alex knew it was entering bloodlust. In the span of a second, the orc was upon Alex. Grabbing his neck with one hand and punching his guts with the other.
The air escaped Alex's lungs with the hit. The elf's body pleaded for oxygen, and Alex took a deep breath and tried to hold it. The monster locked gazes with him, trying desperately to control his own transformation,
"How's it possible?" the orc asked, shaking his head and growling.
Alex caught the dagger on the monster's belly and twisted it, making the orc scream. Being lifted from the ground didn't help in the fight, but Alex managed to use the wall as support to counterbalance his weight. He removed his dagger just to see the complete and utter loss of rationality in the orc's face.
His eyes were utterly red now, and he opened his mouth as if he were about to bite Alex's head off his body. Alex thrust the dagger as fast as he could inside the monster's mouth, coming from the chin. The movement was fast enough to prevent his head from being eaten but not sufficient to avoid another wound. The tusks ripped Alex's cheeks, but the young man didn't lose focus.
He took a deep breath and counted fast from 5 to 0 in one second, and then it happened again. He felt the Arcanite rushing through his body, like in the previous fight with the orcs yesterday. But this time, it came from the leader's earrings. Alex was drawing Arcanite Light from the orc's Arcanite jewelry!
With the rush of energy, Alex was invaded by the anger the orc felt. The elf was consumed by the desire to hurt and to kill. His tusks now passed his nose. Alex's eyes were red with hate. They locked gazes from the last time.
Alex's hand, made of a perfect palm, entered the monster's chest with strength. As if his hand was a knife. The creature shook violently and tried to fight, banging his head against Alex's over and over, but the elf couldn't feel pain, or sore, or anything. His mind was complete with only one thought. To kill this enemy and to drink his blood if possible.
The elf's hand entered deep inside the monster's chest. Alex felt the heart being hit, the arteries being cut. He pulled his hand from inside the monster's body and saw the mist around his arm forming the silhouette of a blade.
Full of bloodlust and Arcanite Light, Alex watched the monster fall, and he fell over him. Hitting the gray orc over and over with his ethereal blade. When he finished, Alex could see that the leader was sane and talking once again,
"I rejoice…" the orc muttered, a tear leaving his eyes. "I was bested by the promised one! My soul is yours, oh Old Gods!" The orc shouted to the skies with a pleading and excited voice.
Alex could almost see the soul leaving the creature's body as his limbs fell limp beside him.
"Die, hellish creature," Alex muttered with his grave voice, changed by the bloodlust. His state of mind prevented him from understanding the orc leader's words and the weight of such an ominous statement.
Alex concentrated on his own breath, trying to control the bloodlust. His hands were shaking, and as he looked outside of the store, he could see the trio still fighting two of the orcs. The bloodlust was so powerful that Alex feared he couldn't control himself if he was outside, knowing that he exhaled fast as if to remove all the air from his body and then proceeded to take deep breaths and deep exhales.
In no time, he started to feel differently, the ethereal blade vanishing from his arms and the red mist leaving the orc's body to enter his own. He had just upgraded the Devil's Hand once again. Two times in the same day in a span of only a few hours, if not minutes. His wounds were instantly healed, and he was again replete with energy. Alex took his blade from the beast's body and sheathed the sword and dagger.
"I still have some work to do," he muttered as he ran towards Tina to help her overcome an orc.
