Chapter 250: Chapter 249

[Third Person's PoV]

Cid calmly walked through the crowd of his shadow soldiers, who parted and knelt, creating a path towards the fallen bodies.

He patted Iron on the shoulder and said, "Good work."

Iron beamed with pride, his chest puffing out as tears gathered in his eyes. Overcome with emotion, he quickly hid behind his forearm and began to sob happily.

Cid scratched Tank's chin, eliciting a satisfied growl. "You did well too," he added with amusement.

"My lord…" Lucifer knelt, presenting Zeraphiel's punctured body to Cid. He said nothing, simply looking at Cid expectantly.

Cid resisted the urge to roll his eyes in amusement and patted one of Lucifer's horns. 'They're like children, how cute,' he thought. "You should be proud."

"With you as my lord, I always am," Lucifer responded, his head bowed.

'Cheeky brat,' Cid thought, shaking his head as he approached Auriel—or what was left of him. His body parts were scattered across the ground.

"Did you have to mangle his body? I have use for it, you know," Cid said, casting a wary glance at Tusk, who crumbled to the ground in disbelief at being reprimanded. Tusk glared at his subordinates behind him, placing the blame on them without hesitation.

"It's fine, Tusk. I'm not blaming you, nor are you in trouble," Cid said, amused, as he levitated Auriel's body parts and reassembled them.

As Auriel's body reformed, he levitated the other three bodies. Cid recalled all of his shadows, who melted into the ground and swam back into his shadow.

He smirked at the bodies before him. "I hope my wives enjoy the treat I bring them."

Igris reappeared in the meeting hall where the 14 Sins and Virtues were gathered. Some crossed their arms in irritation, others looked tired of waiting, but all turned their eyes curiously towards Igris.

"What is it, Igris?" Alpha asked.

"My lord is returning, and he requests that the table be cleared, for he brings a feast that some of you will enjoy," Igris relayed.

Once the table was cleared, Igris took hold of his cloak, spread it to the side, and bowed with a hand to his chest.

Cid emerged from Igris's cape with his hands in his pockets. As he walked towards his seat, large objects followed behind him, stacking themselves on the table to form a pile.

Seated, Cid crossed one leg over the other, leaning back with his elbows resting on the armrests and his hands pressed together. "I'm sorry, ladies. Something minor came up, and I had to step out for a moment. I hope you didn't mind," he said calmly.

The room fell silent as all eyes widened in disbelief. The objects on the table were the giant bodies of angels, their massive white wings making it unmistakable.

"You should have brought me with you," Claire pouted.

"This was something I had to do on my own," Cid replied calmly.

Even Beta pouted a bit. "We just wish to help you, Lord Husband. We have the ability now where we won't be a nuisance to you."

"I know you do, Beta. I never once thought otherwise. But this was something only I could do. They thought they could barge into my home and make demands without consequences. I had to be the one to handle it," Cid explained. "No one else. Besides, you're not the only one who enjoys a good fight."

Cid smiled slightly. "I can't always sit back and let you all do everything."

Though Beta understood, it didn't mean she liked it.

"So, who are you going to pass their power to?" Claire asked, looking around the room.

"They'll all go to the Seven Virtues—"

"WHAT?!" Epsilon exclaimed. "But that's not fair!"

"It's not about fairness," Alpha retorted. "It's because the Virtues represent the light, and these Rulers are beings of light."

"But I'm a Monarch," Claire said, raising her hand slightly. "Does that mean Alpha will become a Ruler? It would be symbolic—a being of darkness leading the light, and a being of light leading the darkness."

Cid placed a hand on his chin. "That could work…" 'However, I was thinking about making Alpha the Monarch of Destruction and passing the Ruling of Light to Akane since…'

"No," Cid said finally, shaking his head. "As good an idea as that is, I have other plans for Alpha."

"You do?" Alpha asked, taken aback.

Cid placed his hands on top of hers. "You'll have to forgive me, but it might take a while for you to become a Monarch. In fact, you might even be the last."

Alpha didn't look displeased in the slightest. "I trust your judgment. I will do whatever you think is best. And I have a feeling it will be worth the wait anyway."

Cid kissed her hands, making her chuckle. He then turned towards Yukime. "Yukime, as the Virtue of Charity, it will be up to you to pass on the powers of a Ruler to everyone here."

"Oh?" she said, her mouth hidden behind a fan. "So I'll be the first to perform my duties as a Virtue," she said happily.

"What do I have to do?" she asked, standing up.

"Place the hand with the Godrune on top of one of the bodies and think about absorbing it into your body," Cid explained.

Yukime reached over to the table and placed a hand on one of the Ruler's bodies. The rune on the back of her hand glowed briefly, and the body slowly disintegrated into particles of white light that flowed into her hand.

She looked towards Cid to see what she should do next. "The one you just absorbed is the Ruler of Fate, and that one will go to Aurora."

"Me? And why Fate?" Aurora asked in surprise.

"Because, out of everyone here, you perhaps didn't have the best fate. However, your fate changed when you met me. You are practically fateless because your fate should have ended with your disappearance. Thus, as someone whose fate is undetermined, making you the Ruler of it seems like the most logical choice."

Gamma then raised her hand slightly, "My lord I think I speak for everyone when I say you hang all of our fates, none of us would be here if it wasn't for you"

Most of the girls nodded their heads in agreement.

However Cid shook his head and looked towards Aurora, "You understand what I mean don't you?"

Aurora nodded, "Compared to everyone else I was only a memory, I was already dead. I really had no fate since Cid had used the memory of myself to create a soul, and then create me a body"

They were shocked, they had never heard of Aurora's tale before, they all had just assumed her body was trapped or something and Cid had rescued her. They would have never in a thousand years would have thought that she was created out of a memory fragment.

"So it's not farfetched to say that I really am Fateless" Aurora said seeing the looks they were giving her.

Chapter 251: Chapter 250 *Unedited*

[Third Person's PoV ]

"Alright then, I'll now begin with the transfer process" Yukime announced once Aurora had said her piece.

Seeing Cid nodding to her giving her the go ahead, Yukime placed the hand with the Virtue Mark on Aurora's head and closed her eyes. She willed the essence to leave her body and be passed on to Aurora.

Aurora had closed her eyes as she was bathed in a gold and white light.

For once reason Yukime had felt she had to take a few steps back once she had finished transferring the Rulers essence.

As the golden light dwindled around Aurora's, her eyes suddenly furrowed and she let out a groan of pain. She quickly stood up pushing her chair back and gritted her teeths, "Ahhh!" She grunted in pain.

Her mana began to rise from her body in a swirling uncontrolled manner. Her hair began to rise upwards along with her mana and started to change colors from her roots. Her raven colored hair started turning white and as it reached her tips it burned a bright golden color.

Her back suddenly arched as she opened her mouth to scream out but no sound had come out.

*Whoosh*

From her back 3 sets of wings of pure white shot out with a powerful flap, feathers began to gently fall all around her while her eye suddenly turned golden and the color of her Mana began to turn the same.

Aurora looked down and saw that even her dress had turned white much to her amusement, and once the pain subsided she saw that everyone was now looking at her in awe.

"So how do I look?" She asked Cid with a teasing smile.

"Better in black that's for sure" Cid scoffed.

Aurora ignored him completely and focused on herself as she began flexing her fingers, "I feel so powerful…"

"Let's give it up for our very own Ruler of Fate everyone" Cid said as he began clapping his hands and the others followed.

Aurora bowed elegantly before closing her eyes and tried to recall her transformation, which worked and her wings retreated back and her black hair quickly returned back to its original color.

"Proceed" Cid motioned towards Yukime and Yukime nodded in agreement.

She placed her hand on the pile and absorbed the essence of one of the Ruler's dead bodies. She then turned towards Cid to see who the one she picked up should go to.

"That was the Ruler of Justice and that one is going to Alexia. As Alexia is one of the few people I know who seeks out Justice for others so adamantly, so if anyone deserves it it's her" Cid nodded.

Alexia blushed slightly as she said, "Complimenting me isn't going to get you in my good grace, just so you know" She muttered.

"I manage to get inside your pants so that's all that matters!" Cid said, giving her a thumbs up.

Which earned him a hateful and embarrassed look from her, "Let's just get this over with" She grumbled.

Hearing her Yukime had placed her hand on top of Alexia and began the process of turning her into a Ruler.

Just like Aurora she was bathed in golden and white light. After a while her face started contorting into a painful grimace as her hair rose to the air and became even whiter and longer than it had previously been, her magic also began turning golden along side her eyes. All the while 3 sets of pure white wings unfurled from her back.

As her transformation was over Alexia was leaning over the table breathing heavily, "People told me I've always look like an angel, who would have thought I would actually become one"

"Now everyone, let's welcome the Ruler of Justice into our mits" Cid said clapping his hands, which the others joined as well.

Alexia held the helm of her skirt and bowed before undoing her transformation and sitting back down. As she sat down however she still flexed her finger, "That's weird, even when I'm not transformed I still feel so strong" she muttered to herself.

And so Yukime moved on to the next body of the pile and looked towards Cid once more.

"That one is the Ruler of Embers, and that one's going to Rose. It is well known how strong of an affinity Rose has with Fire Magic, it is the magic she has the most skill in so thus it's only fair she becomes its Ruler" Cid explained.

And the same process occurred where Yukime placed her hand on Rose and she slowly transformed, however as her already blond hair rose to the air instead of turning white or even golden it had turned a bright red color, her mana swirled around her like living flames and with a flash of her fire her three wings had unfurled from her back.

Burning white feathers fell all around her as her painful look alleviated. Rose looked at her red hair with a bit of surprise. She then lifted her palm and a single flicker of flame appeared dancing in her palm, which caused her to smile as she examined it.

"Well it seems that the essence merging with you has mutated" Cid said, drawing their attention from Rose, who looked towards Cid in confusion. "Instead of being the Ruler of Embers, you're the Ruler of Flames"

And with that the others began to clap in Congratulations. Rose bathed in the warm applause and sat back down undoing her transformation.

Yukime absorbed the next body from the pile that was dwindling rather rapidly, and like other three she looked towards Cid for confirmation on who it would belong to.

"That is the Ruler of Wisdom, and that once will be for Sherry" Cid said, "There really shouldn't be any questions as to why she would be the one to receive this, right?"

Sherry jumped at hearing her name and when she saw that they were shaking their heads, she grew a bit bashful, "Thank you…" She said gratefully towards all of them, she was beginning to be more acceptable to the things which were being handed to her.

Sherry closed her eyes tightly and waited for the pain to appear like how it was for the others, but she still flinched as she felt Yukime place a hand on her head.

She at first felt the warmness of being bathed in the golden and white lights, however it wasn't long before that warmness felt like boiling water flowing through her veins.

She held her body as pain coursing all through her and just like the others her transformation began. Her hair rose as it became a lighter shade of pink, her own magic started turning a pinkish color to match. And three sets of wings unfurled behind her raining down feathers around her.

Sherry blinked for a few seconds as her mind suddenly felt clearer and started to view things more logically.

"Sherry, The Ruler of Wisdom" Cid announced as he clapped and the others did alongside them.

She gave a meek smile and rubbed the back of her end in embarrassment. She went to sit down but she forgot to undo her transformation which caused the chair to fall back causing her to blush. She withdrew her transformation, picked up her chair, and sat back down looking down at her own hands refusing to meet anyone else's gaze.

After Sherry was sitting and Yukime had absorbed the next essence Cid explained, "That one actually belongs to you Yukime, The Ruler of Perception, it is yours, you're allowed to digest the essence you had absorbed."

"I thank thee for thy graciousness" Yukime bowed and closed her eyes as she began to digest the essence she had just absorbed.

Her mana suddenly exploded out of Yukime as if she was engulfed in a blue flame. Her eyes grew sharper as she became a bit more sensual in her demeanor but her face still contorted into a painful grimace. And wings expanded from her back, except compared to the others they appeared to be a bit more furry.

Yukime appeared to be slightly out of breath as she hid her face behind her fan, "I'm not sure how to feel about having 6 wings with 9 tails… I hope it doesn't look weird"

"You look beautiful Yukime" Cid complimented with a sincere smile.

Yukime blushed slightly and batted her eyes, "If you say so, I then I guess I have no choice but to believe you"

"Just like Rose's your essence had evolved, you aren't just the Ruler of Perception anymore, you're the Ruler of Deception"

As the all clapped, Yukime bowed elegantly as well in her own manner and withdrew her transformation.

There were no only two corpses along the table and when Yukime went to absorb one of them Cid stopped her.

"Not that one" Cid interjected before she could activate her power.

She raised an eyebrow and understood, she placed her hand on the other one and walked over towards Elisabeth who was the only Virtue left without an essence mixed with her.

"That one's the Ruler of Night, which again I don't have to explain why Elisabeth is going to be the one receiving it." Cid explained.

As Yukime passed Elisabeth the essence of the Ruler, a familiar sight welcomed them as Elisabeth's red hair rose up high, however it turned from red to surprisingly silver as did her mana. And like the other she grimaces and wings shout from her back.

As she was panting and admiring herself, Cid went on to explain, "It looks like the Essence evolved as well… Oh wow… You have become the Ruler of The Moon and of the Creatures of the Night"

Elisabeth was taken aback, "A double Ruler, is that common?"

"No, not in the slightest, you might just be Unique in this case however they compliment each other so there's that as well" Cid said clearly impressed.

"Say if you're not planning on giving that last body to anyone here, who are you planning on giving it to?" Epsilon asked curiously, her being the sin of envy coming to play.

"Well to Akane obviously" Cid said calmly.

"WHAT?" They all asked at the same time as she wasn't a Virtue or Sin they were curious as to why she would be the one getting it.

"There was a reason as to why Zeraphiel chose to inhabit her body out of everyone else she could have, you know" Cid said in amusement.

And their eyes widened as they looked at the last body, 'So this was the Ruler that was possessing her' They all thought along those lines together.

It was crazy to think that in one second that being was threatening them and the next she was dead, laid lifelessly on their table like a pig at a feast.
