Chapter 78: Chapter 77
[Third Person's PoV]
"Are you okay staying with Eta and studying under her?" Cid asked Sherry.
Sherry nodded her head excitedly, looking very eager to get started.
"Now then before I leave there's something I have to do and give you…" Cid then started explaining to Sherry about the mana core and its ability and how to make it.
"Are you planning on doing it here? My lab and research could get destroyed you know" Eta interrupted with a pout.
"Your right, it's better if we take this outside, we'll be right back" Cid replied, he stuck out his hand towards Sherry, who took a hold of his hand in a shy manner.
Cid and Sherry then started sinking into his shadow and reappeared out by a forest. When they appeared she looked at Cod excitedly "Would I really be able to use Magic like that. And throw fireballs and things like in those fairy tales, without the use of an artifact"
Cid just smirked and summoned a fireball in his palm and threw it in the air where it exploded into a large firework show. Sherry just looked at it in wonder
"It's beautiful" She whispered to herself.
"You ready?" Cid asked to which Sherry nodded and sat on the floor crossed legged. She, with the help of Cid, started making the mana core.
And just like with everyone else he used a drop of both their bloods to finish the process. Which lead to a large mana explosion signifying the completion.
"Woah!" Sherry said in a childish wonder, "I feel amazing" while looking at her hands, closing and opening them again and again.
"Oh by the way you're now immortal" Cid said casually as if he was just telling her the time. Sherry then froze and looked up from her hands and looked at Cid with her eyes widening in shock.
"Wait… what?"
"Yup, anyways let's go" Cid took a hold of Sherry and they reappeared in Eta's lab.
When they did Eta looked at them with a raised brow "Done already? If so then it's perfect, she would be able to try something I've been researching"
"What is it?" Cid inquired
Eta then went towards a keyboard and started typing away until a monitor suddenly appeared showing an image of a magic circle with 4 stones floating around it.
"Is that what I think it is?" Cid was quite shocked at Eta's current invention.
She nodded her head at Cid's question "That's right it's a magic formation. I was thinking about any future members and how long it would take them to reach the appropriate core level.
I thought of many different ideas but this one was the safest. I kept thinking about jewels with a high amount of magic in it but then thought about your lessons on how these jewels were created like the diamond for example.
Which led me to create those stones you see in there that look like jewels. You once taught me that to make a high quality jewel all one needs is a large amount of pressure and extremely high heat.
So I did just that, I used the elements of Gravity, Earth, and Fire with a bit of whole lot of attributeless mana in the center of it all and created this"
Eta went through a few of her things and took out a stone that looked just like a diamond and presented it to Cid.
"I call this a Mana stone. The magic circle is supposed to help whoever sits in the middle of it absorb them into their mana core smoothly. It also uses the mana in the stone to help the body get stronger and more accustomed to mana, making the absorption rate higher and easier." Eta explained rather smugly.
Cid nodded his head at that with a hand on his chin and chuckled which surprised Eta, she looked at Cid in confusion and wondered why he was laughing.
Seeing her confusion Cid shook his head "Sorry for laughing, but I don't think you have any idea just how useful the thing you created actually are and what it entails."
Eta just shrugged her shoulders "I mostly created it to help with the whole core process, that was the only thing I had in mind at the time, when I was done I just fell asleep and haven't really thought much about it when I woke up"
The whole reason I even brought it up was since Sherry just developed her mana core this should help her out."
Eta then started thinking about what Cid could be implying, her brain started running at a quick pace as if gears were rapidly turning, which caused her eyes to widen in amazement at her own creation.
Cid seeing her realization nodded his head with a smirk "That's right… you basically just created a whole brand new energy source."
Cid then held out his hand and created a holographic image using his magic that showed the way Eta created the mana stone.
Cid then started explaining his own thoughts on the matter. "Instead of simply just adding attributeless mana, make some Mana stones with attributes.
For example make a sword add… let's say a ice attribute mana stone by the hilt of the sword and now you basically just created an artifact, a sword that freezes anything that it cuts. You can also make it so that the mana stone is changeable, like you can switch up the elements, you can make these mana stones as some sort of reward system. There are a lot of ways you could use these things, and that was just me giving an example."
Eta then got really excited, so many ideas kept coming to mind, her thoughts were processing things rapidly. As an idea formed in her mind a new one took it's place.
She turned towards Sherry as she said "Get ready we're starting right now, I'm quite excited about this"
Eta then took a hold of Cid and pulled him in for a kiss and she let go she turned around and went typing away jotting down her different ideas.
Cid seeing her antics just shook his head and turned towards Sherry "When she discovers something new she becomes quite excited and researches it until there's nothing more to research"
Cid then pulled Sherry into a kiss as he said, "Well I'll leave you to it don't hesitate to call me if you need something or just simply want to spend time together, Eta will teach you on how to get in contact with me"
Sherry, whose face was red due to the kiss, nodded her head shyly and watched Cid leave the room.
When he left Sherry turned towards Eta and walked up to her ready to start her mentorship under her.

Chapter 79: Chapter 78
[Third Person's PoV]
As soon as Cid exited Eta's lab he saw Claire running towards him in a very fast manner. When she tried to stop she slid slightly before adjusting herself and walking toward him
"Fight me!" She demanded.
Cid looked at her with a raised brow and asked "And why would I do that? You're just going to lose."
Claire puffed up her cheeks as she said "Well isn't it obvious I want to see how much I improved. It's been a few years since we last sparred. I think the last time we sparred was when we were still home and I was about to enter school.
"Shouldn't you be in the field trip or something your grade was taking"
Claire just shrugged her shoulders "I ditched it, it was boring then I heard you were here and came looking for you and here we are so come on"
Claire grabbed Cid's hand and tried to drag him with her but no matter how hard she tried Cid wouldn't budge.
Claire then gave Cid the puppy dog eyes "pretty please" and pouted her lips.
Cid rolled his eyes at her then shrugged his shoulders "Fine It's been a while since I had a good fight let's go"
"Yes!" Claire said while pumping her fist and started following Cid.
They both then arrived at the training field were everyone stopped what they were doing and made way for them.
They both stood by an arena where everyone started distancing themselves from them to not get caught up in the aftermath of their battle.
More and more girls started appearing and paying attention, it was a rare opportunity to see their master fight and they weren't going to miss it for the world.
"So how are we going to do this?" Cid asked while tilting his head slightly in confusion
Claire thought about it for a while before saying "Mostly swordsmanship with a bit of magic from our mana core."
Cid nodded his head and made an ebony sword out of slime and spun it on his hand before arrogantly pointing it at Claire.
Claire did the same and spun her ebony and spun it on her hand before putting her sword at eye level.
Claire's eyes then transformed into dragonoid ones turning into slits, one thing she has noticed before was that whenever her eyes change into that of a dragon her control of her magic becomes easier and more fluid.
Cid seeing this smirked and changed his eyes as well turning them into that of a dragon as well.
They stood looking at each other studying each other's stans looking for any opening. It should have been easier for Claire with her eyes but Cid wasn't one to have any openings making her sweat slightly at all the moves she tried in her mind only for it to get countered.
Seeing no other choice Claire surrounded herself with electricity, the ground cracked and broke as she propelled herself towards Cid at a speed unseeable to the human eyes.
She swung her sword in a wide downward arc at an unimaginable speed but Cid intercepted it. The ground he was standing on caved in and a blast of large wind was greater due to the force Claire used.
Claire then Jumped back just as quickly as she arrived not wanting to suffer from Cid's retaliation, but distance wasn't an issue for Cid.
He simply used his physical strength and sent a sword slash her direction which she easily dodged due to quick speed. She shot herself towards Cid once again and used a move she had been practicing, she swung her sword so quickly three times it appeared as just one.
Cid just swung his sword blocking all three of her attempts. When he blocked it he tried to kick her in the stomach but Claire simply moved out of the way.
Cid also surrounded himself in lightning and went on the offensive, he was so fast that it was difficult for Claire to follow even with her dragon eyes.
Due to how well Cid's control of his strength was he didn't break the ground when he made his way towards Claire,
Cid started running around Claire and started slashing his sword all over her body creating cuts and slashes over her beautiful skin.
Claire tucked her sword towards her and started charging an attack, she gathered the element of wind to start compacting itself in the sword while she used Tekkai.
Once her black sword gained a green hue she spinning around with her sword out creating a tornado, but there was something different about this tornado compared to the normal ones.
It was made from her sword. Which made it extremely sharp, even the slightest touch from it could completely sever someone into pieces.
Cid seeing this smirk, he was impressed. If it was anybody else they would have most likely been dead. This move was a way to stop Cid from continuing attacking her and running in a circle around her.
Although it wouldn't have really done anything to him Cid stopped and moved back, he made a large swinging gesture causing a large gust of wind to go and crash against the tornado destroying it.
As the tornado of slashes was disrupted Claire was seen all healed and in a drawing position, she shot towards Cid and drew her sword sending a large fiery arc.
As the arc made its way towards Cid the ground started melting due to the intensity of the heat, Cid seeing this smirked once again and coated his sword with Armament Haki, he used the sword to change the direction of the flaming slash sending it towards the sky.
And as he did that, Claire appeared in front of him with a vibrating sword, she used the element of sound making her sword vibrate at an extremely high frequency and slashed Cid right across his chest.
Cid's armor-like clothing was completely cut through and his chest had a single red thin line across it at a slight angle.
Cid feeling his chest get scratched started laughing with a hand on his face.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
Everything on him started fixing itself, he looked at Claire when he stop laughing and softly smiled at her "I'm proud of you"
Dread…
That was the only feeling everyone was feeling no matter how far they were from the training field they felt dread. They felt like any sudden movement would be met with death.
It was to the point that it was suffocating, Claire was seen almost dropping to floor due to the entensity and how close she was to the source. Sweat was dripping down her face. She could feel herself start shaking, so much so that she could barely hold her sword and maintain its form.
When she looked towards Cid she was his cold emotionless dragon eyes glowing slightly looking at her. He very softly and slowly raised his sword, Claire wanted to move when she saw that but she couldn't. Something within her was stopping her.
Nobody moved a muscle as Cid started lifting his sword higher and higher, he then started to lower his sword in Claire's direction without changing his speed until it got to the very top of her head.
Then they all saw it, they don't know how but everyone present saw it, the entire continent being split into two evenly symmetrical pieces. They don't know how but for some reason they also know no magic was used, it was all his physical strength, something within them told them that not an ounce of magic was used.
Everything then started coming back together and when it did everyone collapse on the floor breathing heavily.
Cid smirked while looking down on Claire "I just hope you don't get too over confident after just leaving a tiny scratch on me."
