"Amelia." A large hand gently caressed her cheek, brushing away the fine strands of hair stuck to her forehead.

Amelia Clarke slowly turned her head and looked into Owen Moreland's calm eyes. An IV needle was inserted into the back of her hand, with Owen's hand underneath hers, holding her icy fingertips and warming them.

She glanced out the window and smiled faintly, "It's already dark, huh?" Her voice was somewhat hoarse.

Owen nodded, "Yeah." He paused, then softly asked, "Would you like some water?"

Amelia said, "Yes."

Owen gently laid down her hand with the IV needle, went to the bar to pour a cup of hot water, cooled it down, inserted a straw into the cup, and cranked up her hospital bed.

"Here." He sat by the bed and brought the cup to her lips.

Amelia sipped through the straw twice but accidentally choked, coughing. The pain in her abdomen intensified, and tears suddenly fell.
