"Mr. Jones, are you looking for Dr. Campbell?"

An intern doctor who passed by saw Adam Jones and approached him.

"Yeah."

"Dr. Campbell has already finished her shift. She left not long ago."

"Finished her shift?"

Adam Jones frowned, thanked the intern doctor, and turned to leave without another word.

Picking up his phone, he dialed Elly Campbell's number. This was the first time in many years that he had initiated a call to her, and an inexplicable nervous tension began to assail his heart without reason.

"Beep beep beep—"

After two rings, the line went to a busy signal.

"This asshole!"

He muttered a curse through gritted teeth and, undaunted, redialed the number, only to be met with the same grating busy signal.

"Damn Elly Campbell!"

"President."

The driver, who had seen him coming and already opened the car door to wait, heard Adam muttering curses at Elly Campbell and secretly felt a pang of anxiety for the lady.
