{Headmaster's Office, Hogwarts}
{6th Oct 1991}
{3rd person POV}
...
"Peter Enid Pettigrew..." Pettigrew's words lingered in the air as everyone seemed to ponder the implications. Rigel looked at Amelia. She was staring at Pettigrew with a blank look on her face. He knew he could take advantage of this situation a little, but he controlled himself and instead leaned into her ears and whispered.
"...Calm down, please. I need your help to make sure Uncle Sirius can regain his freedom." Rigel nudged her.
Her eyes blankly turned to him, and after staring at his face for a moment, she nodded and regained her balance. Rigel let go of her waist. The feeling of grabbing onto her plump flesh lingered as Rigel focused back onto the room.
'Now let's deal with the Minister...' Rigel thought as he turned to Fudge, who was frowning.
"What do you think, Minister Fudge? Don't you think that the last Minister before you made a mess of things? Not only did he allow the Dark Lord to ravage our country, but he also threw an innocent person, an heir to a Most Ancient and Most Noble house, into Azkaban. Surely the current government would step up and right those wrongs, ensuring our country's citizens have faith in its justice system?" Rigel asked with a smile on his face.
...
Fudge stared at Rigel Black. The young man's smiling face didn't fool him. Although his words were flowery, it contained a hidden message to not fuck this up. He knew if he didn't follow the same path, then the young man would probably leak this whole thing in the newspaper the next day. He had managed to talk to the Director of the Daily Prophet to suppress Rita's personal war against Malfoy, but this wasn't something he could suppress since his influence was on the line.
'How in the world did he get Rita on his side? I don't understand...'
At the same time, he looked at Amelia. Although she was not in the Bones household's line of inheritance, she was also untouchable to him, so he had no choice there. Dumbledore would also be against him. Although Lucius would support any plan to bury this incident, Fudge knew that it wasn't a good idea to muddle through this much opposition.
'I could still use this incident to increase my prestige as well. It is a chance, but I would lose Lucius's support for a while.' Fudge calculated. He knew he wasn't the smartest person in this book, but in politics, connections mattered, and although he would probably lose Lucius over this incident, there was a chance to gain the favor of not only the current Black heir who is on the run but the next one as well.
...
"Of course, you can count on the Ministry to investigate who was involved in this horrible mistake. I personally guarantee that this situation will not be brushed over by some office politics," Fudge promised. His words caught many people by surprise as he turned to Amelia.
"Amelia, I want you to handle this case personally and ensure no details are left untouched. If Pettigrew was the reason for that unfortunate night 17 years ago, he needs to answer for his crimes... and the kill-on-sight order on Sirius Black has hereby been revoked. Pending a round of questioning and admission of nonguilty, he will be exonerated of all alleged crimes." Fudge declared. He made his stance clear and glanced at Rigel, who nodded.
"Understood, Minister," Amelia replied, her voice a little hollow.
"Good, heir Black," Fudge turned to address Rigel. "The ministry thanks you for bringing this severe misunderstanding to our attention. I would forward your name to be included in the list of recipients for the Order of Merlin, Second class."
Rigel paused for a moment and looked at Fudge's expression. He didn't contemplate for long before he nodded his head in thanks, "Of course, minister."
Accolades like these didn't matter to him, but a positive image always helped. Fudge looked around at everyone before tilting his head at Dumbledore and saying, "Albus, I'll talk to you later. Please do release Pettigrew into the Ministry's custody by nightfall."
As Fudge got ready to leave, so did Amelia. As the head of the DMLE, it was her job to ensure nothing happened to Fudge. Lucius and Narcissa swiftly followed behind the minister, and Lucius whispered something into Narcissa's ear when they left.
Rigel turned back to look at a bound Pettigrew, who was now looking around the room. He was trembling as he looked in between Dumbledore and Severus.
"I think I should leave too. I'm sure Headmaster Dumbledore would be able to handle this matter." Rigel smiled as he looked at Dumbledore. He had noticed that from the time Pettigrew had confessed his sins, Dumbledore had been looking at him.
"How did you know Pettigrew was hiding as a rat?" Dumbledore asked. Normally, the headmaster was a master of hiding his intent, but right now, he was being entirely blunt.
Rigel was a little taken aback before he replied, "I read about some things from a book that my Father left me. The thought that Sirius could betray the Potters was a notion that was foreign to him. I had to get to the bottom of what happened that night, and once I found out that something like this was possible, I had to clear the name of my only living relative."
The story was a stretch from the truth, and Dumbledore could tell that Rigel was hiding many things. His disadvantage was that Rigel's mind was safe, and he couldn't act more blatantly than asking him for the truth.
"Can I go, Headmaster?" Rigel motioned to the door, and Dumbledore absentmindedly nodded. He could feel Dumbledore's eyes as he left the room and walked back to his room. The plan had gone great, and now he had a safety blanket named Sirius to safeguard him from Dumbledore, Lucius, and the Ministry itself.
The trek back to his room was peaceful. When he opened the door, he was met with a pair of grey eyes tracking his move. A hint of steel was in her eyes as she stepped forward and spoke, "Can we talk?"

{Slytherin Common Room, Hogwarts}
{6th Oct 1991}
{3rd person POV}
"Can we talk?" Daphne asked. Rigel looked at her serious face for a moment and then nodded.
"Sure, we can talk." Rigel motioned for a couple of isolated chairs in the common room, but Daphne shook her head.
"Can you come to my room? I don't want anyone to eavesdrop?" Daphne asked.
Rigel looked at her face for a moment before he nodded. He followed her toward the other end of the common room, his eyes tracing the runes etched onto the corridor's entrance. He watched Daphne put her wand at one of those runes and sensed her mana pushing through the rune scheme.
He sensed a couple of runes going dark, breaking the connection of the entire structure, "...Go through quick."
Daphne's voice broke him out of the daze as he nodded and passed through the small archway. He did sense a couple of wards scan him, but nothing happened. Daphne, after seeing him cross the threshold, put her wand back into her robe pocket and walked beside him.
"Was that a security feature?" Rigel asked.
"Yeah, boys are normally not allowed in girls' dormitories." Daphne nodded. Rigel nodded. He knew about Gryffindor's sliding stairs but didn't know if Slytherin had something similar.
His eyes roamed around the names on the doors. Like the boys, Slytherin had all of its first years on the ground floor, and he could see stairs at the end of the hallway.
"Shrivelfig~" Daphne said as she pressed her wand against the door. Another pulse of mana left her wand as the door clicked open. The inside of her room was a lot stale than Rigel had imagined. Instead of pink flowery sheets, everything was dull grey or white. The only things that matched his imagination were the fresh scent of flowers and the cleanliness of the room.
"Be honest. Did you clean the room before I came?" Rigel asked as a smile spread onto his face.
Daphne rolled her eyes as she entered the room and discarded her robes. His eyes traveled across her smooth long legs and perky ass as she walked over to her bed and sat down.
"Yes, I did. Happy now." She glared at Rigel, who raised his hands and then leaned against her door.
"So, what do you want to talk to me about?" Rigel asked. He had no idea what had brought this on.
"Well, you know about the Core expansion Ritual that is supposed to start happening around Halloween, right?" Daphne asked, and then, perhaps upon seeing Rigel's widening eyes, she hastily clarified, "It's about the ball. A ball that the Greengrass family organizes every year. Since I'm 18 this year, I am expected to bring a partner to the event."
Rigel calmed down as he looked at Daphne's panicked expression. It seemed important to her to clear any misunderstanding. "So you want me to be your date?" he asked.
She nodded swiftly, but her eyes widened as Rigel approached her. He extended his hand to her, and she gave her right hand to him after a moment of hesitation. Rigel pulled her onto her feet and lightly grabbed her waist with his other hand.
"You know it is courteous to give flowers or maybe a small gift when asking someone a question that is so important... but then again, I guess you are used to people begging for your attention," Rigel murmured as he looked into her eyes. His right hand grazed her face, causing the blonde to freeze.
Daphne remained frozen. Her eyes stared into Rigels for a moment too long before she pushed him slightly, though she didn't leave his embrace as she glared at him.
"So, will you go... with me?" she asked.
"Of course, anything for you, my lady, but I need to consult you about the heirship-claiming ritual as well. We do that on Halloween night, right?" Rigel asked.
"Ah yes, have you gotten your ring?" Daphne asked.
"The goblin informed me that I would get it by the end of this week," Rigel replied. He looked as Daphne thought about that information for a second before she spoke.
"You could do the ritual at our manor. I could ask Mom and Dad. They could easily open the second Ritual room in the dungeons." Daphne replied.
"Hmm, I also don't actually know how to dance," Rigel replied. If he was going to the ball, then he would need to learn how to dance.
The question seemed to stump even Daphne, as it seemed like she hadn't considered it, "I could teach you?"
"Sure-" Rigel agreed, but before he could complete his sentence, Daphne interrupted, "-for a favor that I could redeem at a later date."
Rigel paused and looked at her innocent expression. He thought about her requirements and then nodded, "Sure, a favor of equal magnitude seems like a fine price to pay to be in such an esteemed company."
He grinned at her flushed look as she nodded, simultaneously accepting the compliment and the extended offer. She looked happy with the trade, so Rigel thought he could have pushed for more.
'It's alright. I wonder if I can seduce her without relying on the system,' Rigel thought. Because of the system, he knew that Daphne wanted to be his friend because of her sister, so he didn't feel guilty about playing with her a little bit. She was using him somewhat, after all.
"Alright, is there anything else you need, your highness?" Rigel asked.
...
Daphne stared at him for a moment before she asked, "Is the deal between you and Pansy true?"
'Huh, it seems like the Hogwarts rumor mill has much to say about me.'
"Yes," Rigel nodded. "I would agree to one of her requests if she agreed to one of mine. It's kind of like our deal but in a different context."
Daphne nodded. Her face looked a little lost before she spoke, "Can you promise me one night? On Halloween, just for one day, don't be with anyone else?"
Her words did catch me off guard. If there was one thing Rigel expected her to say, it was not this. He looked into her eyes briefly and then nodded, "Of course. I said it was a date, right?"
A look of relief passed onto her face before she locked her emotions behind Occlumency once again.
"Thank you..." She murmured before she surprised Rigel by moving forward and hugging him.
...
'This is the last thing I expected to happen after she point blank asked if I'm fucking another girl from our class...'
