Chapter 19: chapter 20
I was in class when I got a text from James telling me to meet him for Lunch giving me the location " pick me up in one hour " I answered him and keep listening to the professor as if am getting anything he is saying
"You know if you would have let me buy a car I would be here picking you up " James complains as soon as I got in the car I lean against him kiss his cheek" that's what I was expecting from you not complains " I answered him putting on my seatbelt when I started university James did want to buy me a car but I wouldn't let him he was already paying all my expenses the scholarship wasn't covering but every time I call him to pick me up he always reminds me that if I wanted I would be having a car
" so what's the occasion it's not always you want to share with me lunch" I asked him we are sitting in a nice expensive Italian restaurant
" I didn't know I need a reason to have lunch with my girlfriend " he said but the waitress come to take our order but she was too busy checking out giving sex eyes with James
James gives her his order ignoring her and she takes mine and goes
" you know she was trying to flit with you " i laugh at how she was trying to get his attention am used to it now all women do wants him and some aren't even afraid of showing it but sorry guys am the luck one
" yeah I know but am already taken by my beautiful baby mama who is sitting with me right now" he says I smile at him" so there is something I want to tell you but I need you to trust me" he adds
" I knew this lunch was too good to be true " I laugh the waitress comes giving us our food but she places a napkin under James's food he takes it looks at it said" bring my girlfriend a glass of chocolate milk please and take your napkin am not interested " I busted out laughing but she glares ate me as she left
"So what's going on" I give back my attention to James who is enjoying his food
" there is something am going to do but I want you to trust me and know that I will never betray you "
" what is it"i ask him not liking this at all he cleans his mouth and hold my hand across the table " I love you am doing everything in my power to save the company and us I need you to trust me and be patient with me things might be a little crazy these coming days" he explains facing me which I see that he is serious the waitress came back with my milk and left this time with out any drama
" of course James I trust you" I chose not to make things more complicated for him we continue our lunch peacefully after James paid and he drop me at the laboratory for my work
Later that day I went home when I was about to enter the house I see Palma coming from the other side of the road I wait for her so that we can enter together
" what are you doing here outside"Palma asked me as she got closer
" waiting for my sister " i pull her wrapping my arm around her shoulders " isn't it late for you coming home ate this hour " i ask her cause it's past six and she usually get home by five
" was studying with Kelly tomorrow I start my finals " she explains we get in the house
" you are here at the same time " mom said sitting at the table drinking some juice" I was going to make some dinner but we need to do grocery shopping "
" you all know we are kinda broke right " i explained looking at them but they just stare at me
" what do you mean we are broke " Palma asked turning to me
" you know I pulled all our savings to cover up mom's hospital bill for the doctors to do the surgery I was supposed to pay half" i explained " mom don't get mad please I was just trying to save you "
" I know baby am just ...….. how are we supposed to survive " she sighs Palma throw her bag to the floor and sit down on another chair across mom
" I've been using my little paycheck that I get from my internship to cover up other bills and give you some allowance " I say to Palma "i thought I was going to do grocery shopping this month I haven't gotten my paycheck you know I've been struggling to keep up with everything " i explained to them
" I will look for a job then maybe I can help out also" Palma offers life is not that simple before mom got sick we weren't rich but we were able to have three meals a day and save something but things haven't been easy since she got sick before my grandparents left they gave me some money to help out I've been trying to cover expenses but things are definitely getting more hard and harder
"They are some leftovers in the fridge why don't we all share that " mom said getting up to heat it up
" and am sorry am not being any helpful " mom said looking away from us i could hear from her voice that she is about to cry
" mom stop you took care for us for a long time I will get a job try to help Leila just focus on your health and get better " Palma explained going to her giving her side hug
" mom it's really going to be okay and don't stress yourself you know it's won't benefit you and your recovery " i go to them trying holding both of them in my arms mom have been getting better but the doctor still thinks that it's necessary to still take it slow until she fully recovers and that's we agreed on doing I know it's hard on her seeing how weak are struggling but it's nothing we can't handle
