Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Meeting the Alpha

"How are you? Are you feeling any pain or discomfort?", the doctor asked while checking my pulse. I shook my head no.

"Good, you are recovering very well. We have given you some injections so that you won't feel any pain for few hours but if you still feel any pain after, you can take the medication I'll prescribe when you get discharged".

He then pinned me with an apprehensive look, "Do you want to talk about the scars that you have on your body?"

My eyes widened when he asked that question. I averted my gaze in nervousness and embarrassment. 'They have seen my scars they are going to hate me too'.

"It's ok, you don't have to be shameful about that. Everyone has some flaws, no one is perfect". He said it like it was nothing big but it matters so much to me.

"Your wolf is ok which is a good sign and your recovery progress is good too", he said smiling at me then turned to Beta Franco who looked a bit pissed.

"You can call the Alpha now, Beta Franco but as her doctor, I suggest not to pressure her for answers. She's still weak and her mental state isn't so strong, it might become worse if not handled properly".

"Thank you doctor", Beta Franco acknowledged his words with a nod and the doctor left.

Beta Franco then walked towards me and I cowered back in fear with my head down, just like I was taught. He looks pissed, he might beat me like them.

I looked up after hearing nothing to see hurt in his eyes but he masked it quickly.

"I'll go get the Alpha", I nodded and looked down again and heard the doors shut.

I looked around to find a window or something but nothing… there was none here. Maybe in the bathroom?

I tried to stand but fell back on the bed and realized I can't feel my legs.

I have to get out of here before the Alpha comes in because he'll question me then I'll have to answer him and he might send me back to that evil pack.

I was still thinking about how to make my legs work when I sensed an aura more powerful than Beta Franco's, this had to be the Alpha.

I quickly lowered my head so I don't get in trouble.

"You can look up", a deep voice said as he came in. I glanced up to see him already staring at me.

He was older, maybe in his thirties but still looked handsome. I forgot how intensely I was assessing him until he cleared his throat and I blushed brighter than a tomato since I was caught.

"What were you doing on my pack's border? And would you care to enlighten me about why you're in this condition?"

Woah! So direct. What happened to asking people about their name, maybe a formal introduction?

I snapped out of my thoughts realizing I needed to answer his questions, then I started sweating even though it was cold.

"I uhhh… I Uhmm…", do I tell him what Drew did to me? No! He'll never believe that my own mate, an alpha, is the cause of my scars.

"Well", I started while trying to work up an excuse in my head when Beta Franco came in with a file. He smiled at me and handed the file to the Alpha.

"What is this?", the Alpha asked, even I was curious.

"These are her reports. She's fine now but still recovering, the doctor said not to pressurize her for answers yet as her mental state isn't stable yet".

"Okay", the Alpha agreed, "we won't pressure you but you do have to answer some questions so we can be assured that you're not a threat to this pack".

Me? A threat in this condition? Confusion was clear on my face but he ignored it and continued.

"Let's start with your name and what pack you're from. We need this information so they can be informed about your condition and be here to get you".

No sooner had he finished before I shouted, "No!"

They both looked at me surprised.

"I umm… I'm sorry Alpha and Beta sirs", I looked at my twiddling thumbs to avoid their gazes. I heard them laugh two seconds later and I looked up to see them laughing while holding their stomachs.

What's so funny? Are they laughing at me?

I tried to hold back the tears as memories of my pack mocking me flashed in my mind but it betrayed me and slid down my cheeks.

They stopped laughing when they noticed.

"We're sorry, we're not making fun of you", Beta Franco said.

"Yeah, it's because you're so innocent it's too cute", the Alpha contributed making me blush and they chuckled.

"Okay so back to the point, what's your name and why the very obvious refusal to go back to your pack?"

I sighed as I came to terms with the fact that they won't let it go.

"My name is Adira and I don't want to go back to my pack".

They looked at me in confusion.

"Why?", the Alpha asked.

"Because… Uhh, my mate… well he rejected me because I was the omega of the pack", I spoke in a low voice.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Will you tell us if he was the one who did this to you?", Beta Franco asked with gritted teeth.

I nodded with my head down.

"What kind of mate is he? Didn't the Alpha or anyone stop him from doing this to you?", the Alpha asked looking livid.

"No… the Alpha is a very kind and nice person but he didn't know about this. My mate… he was from another pack, I met him at a party hosted by our pack. He took me to the sea away from everyone".

I peeked at them to see them eating up the lie I was feeding them so I continued my fake story.

"When he was sure that no one was there, he started beating me. I tried to call for help but he covered my mouth, he said I wasn't worthy to be his mate. He is the gamma of his pack and I'm an omega, worthless, fat and ugly. When he was satisfied with my condition, he threw me into the sea… I swam until my energy was depleted and ended up here".

I noticed them pinning me with a weird look and nervousness overtook me.

Did they figure out my lie?
