"If only you saw one of their members, you know it will be easier for us to track them."
Theo pounded on the table as he began to organize the papers on the desk. He chose the picture on the right side of the page. It is a picture of the members of the cult, all of whom are dressed in black cloaks and are executing a ritual while encircling a statue of Hades.
"Are you sure this is accurate?" Theo asked Kurt as he put down the picture in front of Kurt.
After grabbing it, Kurt turned his attention to the photo. "It's impossible for Hunter to make a mistake, right? You are aware of his covert operations, aren't you?"
As Theo approached the glass wall, he squeezed the bridge of his nose and gazed down. They are currently at his office, formulating a strategy for pursuing the elusive group.
"It was dark that night. Even though torches have been lightened up, I still can't see nor recognize any of them. I was drugged." But God knows how desperately he fought to catch a glimpse of those living demons so he could lash out at them. He swiveled around to look at Kurt. "I was tied to a pole while they dragged Hilary at the center, near the foot of that Hades statue, unconscious. Four of them… they…" he paused as he leaned his hands on the desk, trying to control his emotion.
It was still his dark past. How he witnessed the death of Hilary.
"Don't talk about it. The important thing is that we need to follow all this information and plot a solid plan to catch them. I can't blame Moretti. This should have been done two years ago, but you met Cassie—ops!" he raises his hand to stop Theo from throwing glares at him. "I know, sometimes, love comes unexpectedly. But… Moretti has a point."
Theo clenched his fists.
"You almost got killed that day. But, of course, Cassie was there. Thanks to her, but you fell in love with her that fast," Kurt asserted with a mocking tone.
"I don't have the time of reminiscing, Vega." In a swift move, Theo pulled his gun from his holster vest and cocked it on his right leg. If Kurt is his prey, he should be dead by now.
Kurt let out a soft chuckle. "Come on, dude. I am just stating the fact—"
"Cut it down, Vega. I am serious."
"Fine." Kurt sighed and started to collect all the files and piled them up. "I will ask Hunter to dig more. You know we only have a week."
"Why? Are you afraid? Do you think we can't make it?" Theo questioned as he put back his gun in the holster.
Kurt stood up and grabbed the files. "I trust you. You will always do the impossible. So, no. I am not afraid."
"Tsk. Get out."
Kurt snorted. "Yes, master," he said, making Theo arched his brow.
Kurt bolted out of the office as Theo strode toward him, tapping him on the shoulder.
Kurt was prepared for whatever Theo had in store for him. Theo is not a very humorous guy. Humor is something he cannot stand. His enemies in the Bianchi Mafia referred to him as a "living demon."
Before he fell in love with Blake Moretti's younger sister, nobody had ever seen him laugh.
Even if Theodore's joy didn't persist, such times showed a different side of him. He gets back for who he was when that group killed Hilary.
"Mr. Vega. Mr. Collins is inside your office," Theo's assistant delivered, which made Kurt nod his head and wink at her.
Wow, that's perfect timing. He needs to ask for more from Hunter.
"Thank you."
The woman's cheeks are starting to turn a brighter shade of crimson. Kurt Vega is so charming that no one can say no to him.
"What are you doing here, fucker?" Kurt asserted as soon as he entered his office.
Hunter crossed his legs on the leather couch and fiddled with the dagger at his side.
"How was it? Is everything fine? You need more?" he put down his dagger and placed it on the glass table. "Just tell me, and I am willing to help you," he added.
Kurt scoffed as he put down the files on his table. He walked on the opposite side of Hunter and sat on the couch. "I wonder if Moretti knows about this? If he finds out, we will all be dead," Kurt said as he leaned backward.
Hunter let out a sly smirk. "He will not find it out. Not unless one of us will tell it to him."
"Haha, don't you know that devil? He can smell everything."
"Theo is still scarier than Blake. If you think Blake is brave…" Hunter shook his head. He moved forward grabbed the whiskey, and poured a little amount into his glass, "you are wrong. Moretti is a coward—"
"Whoa. Stop right there," Kurt interrupted. "Are you backstabbing the boss? He's the leader and creator of the Bianchi mafia, and you're his right hand. Are you fucking nuts?"
Hunter chuckled. "Got ya! I'm just bluffing. Why so serious? Of course, Blake, the devil is invincible."
Kurt sighed. "Let's not talk about that. By the way, are you sure it is the same group? You know the incident happened five years ago. Are they still operating?"
Hunter sipped on his glass. "This kind of group will never stop until they prove something. if they talk about prophecy and so on… you know they will not stay in one corner to watch everyone. The more they believe in something, the more interested they are. So, if I am Smith, he must come up with a better plan."
Kurt shook his head. "This won't be easy. Those groups are very good at hiding. Theo even suspected the wrong one a month after the incident. And one week? I think—"
"Theo can wave goodbye to his love." Hunter stood up and put his hands inside the pocket of his pants. "It's just a distraction. Theo is almost there. I am also helping you. So, better hurry your ass up and bring all the heads to Moretti."
"I know."
Hunter was about to walk toward the door when Kurt stopped him. "Anyway, what's your thing with Sarah?"
Hunter frowned. "We're not a thing—"
"You're courting her. She told me. So?" Kurt cut the hum of Hunter's words and let out a mocking smile.
"A thing or not, I think, you're not supposed to meddle, right? You like—"
"Sarah is yours, fucker. I can have any woman I like," Kurt uttered.
Hunter chuckled and strode toward the door. "Of course." He stopped when he reached the knob and turned to Kurt again. "By the way, the cult group name is The Devil's Descendants."
