Chapter 52: Why take the risk?

My heart thudded. I couldn't help but wonder what it meant to be a part of the family. To be an Evans.

The question was: Would I ever find out?

Clyde gave a final bow to me and walked ahead, leaving Rourke standing beside me.

For someone supposedly working undercover, he seemed awfully tall. Taller than any man should ever be given his status, with Tristan being the only one I knew to surpass him by a few inches.

And not very friendly-looking. Which probably explained why he kept his distance during dinner last night.

Still, I found nothing intimidating about him, which surprised me considering his reputation.

No wonder he worked best alone.

Then again, perhaps that meant he knew how to keep his emotions hidden better than others.

That definitely proved useful to the gang.
