Chapter 25: Mount

It's been a week since I changed my method of domestication. The method I used was rational taming, which makes the animal submit willingly. I changed to a more drastic method; I really didn't want to force them, but I decided that I will leave here in a week.
I haven't stopped counting the days since I arrived here, and next week will mark a year since I arrived in this era. I don't know how or why I ended up here, but those things I pushed to the back of my mind a long time ago. Right now, I just want to live in peace and maybe build something great.
But at least the gnus are obeying. It's not perfect, but they no longer try to attack me. Since I had to teach them a lesson every time they tried, I started using some tools and the paralyzing herb frequently. So far, it hasn't shown any side effects, but I ended up making a scar on the young one.
It's a cut from the rear to the belly. It was really an accident since it wasn't meant to cut, just to hurt. But they ended up getting scared, and in just a week, they started obeying basic commands, like eating what I give them and walking under my control.
I noticed that after the young one surrendered, the younger ones followed suit. Something I liked, as hurting them was not something that pleased me.
I also made another decision; I won't use the gnus as pack animals now. The wagons will be used differently than I originally planned; I will use them to transport only food, the children, and the elderly. But the males will pull them.
I made this decision after the gnus obeyed me; I noticed that they are too young for this, and taming an adult is out of the question. So, I changed the design of the wagons from a Sicilian style to a Chinese style. There were fifteen wagons in total, for 60 females with children and 12 old ones.
Each wagon will carry 5 females with children, and two will carry 5 old ones, and one will carry the last two elderly and three females. I feel a little guilty since I forced them to obey me for a reason they won't even fulfill, but I will use them as mounts.
That's what I'm trying to teach them now, only the young one, as the others are too small for it. At first, as expected, he was nervous, but after nearly a whole day with me on his back, he became calmer.
Of course, I didn't forget to give a reward every time they obeyed me; this is to get them used to obeying and following my commands. After a few more days, all the preparations were finally ready.
Tomorrow will be the day I truly explore this world.

I wanted to include mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and giant sloths, even though they exist, they live in different locations, so I can't include them now. I hope you enjoy what I intend to write.
