Chapter 63: Chapter 62

They walked without speaking to the A.R.G.U.S. jet.

It was a small, two-seater aircraft equipped with stealth technology and perfect for quick and covert travel.

Etta took the pilot's seat, and Dio sat in the copilot's seat.

She started operating the controls and prepared for takeoff.

Meanwhile, Dio looked out the window and saw Raven hurrying in his direction. Dio gestured for her to stop and then nodded in a simple signal.

She understood and stepped back.

Etta took off and headed west while slowly increasing the speed to the maximum.

After a few minutes of flight, Dio asked, "What happened, Etta?"

She was focused on the controls but began to speak without looking at him.

"It started as a simple mission until Steve went offline and missed the scheduled contact with headquarters. It's not uncommon for missions to get a bit frantic, but since Steve is the A.R.G.U.S. leader, we alerted Diana, and she also went to check."

"She didn't respond either."

Dio guessed.

"Yes, we got worried, so we went to the location with me in charge of an entire squad of soldiers. We managed to find Diana, but things quickly got out of control. After a lot of effort, she could only get me out of that hell."

'Thankfully, Diana was still alive and well, but I couldn't trust all she said.'

"What was Steve's mission?"

Dio asked.

"He was investigating strange events in a small town. We had reason to believe that these strange events were connected to a new meta-human."

The rest of the flight was peaceful and done in silence. Etta clearly didn't want to talk and focused all her attention on piloting.

In the middle of the journey, Dio summoned his armor and sword to get ready for action.

Finally, they landed in the middle of a wheat field at nightfall. They left their seats and walked to the jet's exit.

Dio walked out into the field and looked at the wheat, which had grown to just above his waist.

There was nothing else around, and the sky was beautiful, filled with stars on a cloudless night.

"Now that we've arrived,"

Dio said this to Etta, who had just exited.

"Why don't you tell me who you are?"

Dio's question made her freeze for a moment until she finally moved and gave him a forced smile.

"What are you talking about, Diomedes? I'm me, your friend."

Etta said while approaching.

"You acted reasonably well. The only problem was your lack of attention to details."

Seeing that Dio didn't fall for her attempt, Etta drew her silver pistol from her waist, but he was already prepared.

Dio grabbed her wrist and kicked her legs, which made her fall to the ground.

Dio took the pistol from her hand and placed his foot in the center of her chest to immobilize her on the ground.

She tried to free herself while holding his leg with both hands and trying to push him away, but Dio didn't budge.

"As I was saying, you lacked attention to details. Etta never calls me by my full name, and she's very afraid of flying, even though she's a good pilot. She always trembles a bit when she's in the air."

Dio had found her behavior at the Teen Tower strange, but he ignored it until Raven came running and gave him the answer to his intuition.

In this situation, it's normal to ask for help, but Diana could really be in trouble, and there was a chance that Etta didn't tell anyone where Diana was when she was caught at the Tower.

Dio had to play the game until he got here.

"Now that I've told you how, how about you tell me who you are?"

Dio asked once more and got no response.

Etta just stared into his eyes without saying a word.

"Αποκαλύψτε τον εαυτό σας."

(Reveal yourself.)

Dio said it out loud, but there were no visible changes in Etta.

This indicated that either her disguise was very effective or that she was actually Etta but was under someone else's control.

If it were the first option, it would be easy to get answers since he wouldn't have to worry about hurting her flesh.

The second option was problematic; now, Dio had to proceed without more information because someone under control would never reveal anything unless he had a way to break the control, which he didn't.

"Υπνος!"

(Sleep!)

The second spell worked. Etta fell asleep instantly.

Dio lifted her from the ground, put her in the seat, and put the seatbelt around her. He then used the belt from the seat next to her to tie her hands and legs together.

Dio reached into her pockets just to be sure, and there was a silver card with the A.R.G.U.S. logo on it.

This card was used to start the aircraft.

Dio left her like that and returned to the exit.

He closed the back door and then picked up Etta's gun from the ground and exerted some force, crushing the metal.

Dio threw away the gun, which had now turned into a paperweight.

Finally, he took another look at the place he was in while contemplating his situation.

Dio couldn't rely on the Titans; Raven undoubtedly alerted them.

However, the aircraft that brought them here isn't easily traced, so it will take them some time to arrive, and Diana may not have that much time.

Dio could send a message using the aircraft's radio to alert them, but he doesn't know the Tower's frequency.

When Dio gets back home, he'll adjust something else.

Dio started to walk through the wheat field by himself while holding his sword and shield.

It became obvious that the one who controlled Etta wanted his presence here.

At first, Dio thought that this wheat field would be overrun with enemies waiting to capture him.

However, Dio walked slowly and wasn't attacked at all.

This could mean that his enemy was either too sure that he was a threat or they were confident that they could control him with their powers as soon as he landed.

He had to make a plan or stop moving so slowly. After putting his shield away, he held up the palm of his hand and said.

"Έλα, και γίνε τα μάτια μου!"

(Come, and become my eyes!)

A skull appeared on his hand, with glowing eyes emitting red energy.

The skull floated in the air and gave him an aerial view of the entire area where he was.

Dio didn't need to search for long to find a city on the horizon; it looked like a small town with only a few lights on.

Now that he had a destination, Dio continued to walk slowly through the field.

Dio didn't deactivate his spell and kept the shared vision from the skull above, which followed his progress.

Dio had to thank the one who brought him here; this place was genuinely calm.

'The cool breeze, the entire field illuminated only by the moon and stars. I think I'm becoming a nature lover.'

After walking for about half an hour, Dio stopped at the entrance of the small town, which was completely filled with people of all genders and ages holding weapons.

The meta-human might be controlling everyone.

This was going to be very difficult.
