Chapter 35: Thirty Five

The quad was still bustling with students walking by in every direction. People hollered and celebrated the victory of the Ballers, but joy and celebration were the last things on my mind in that moment, and from the tense look on Toby's face, I could tell he felt the same. Tucked away in an indiscreet corner, Sheldon stood waiting for us with his hands shoved deep in his pocket. Trepidation grew in me with every step we took closer, especially when we were close enough to see the vicious smile on his face. His shaggy blonde hair was covered underneath his black hoodie, just about obstructing his eyes from view. Toby walked purposefully towards him, visibly tense, the vein on his forehead popping as his jaw clenched.

When we stopped right in front of him, Sheldon's eyes flicked to me and he snorted, "When I said this was about your girlfriend, I meant the actual female. Then again I guess gender is not really a thing anymore..."
