Just as the clone was about to approach the oasis, an arm-thick spike of blackish-brown color shot from the ground, stabbing towards the clone.

The surface of the spike was covered with a thick chitinous shell, which was overgrown with a layer resembling the same dark brown complexion, and three feet of its tip had evolved into something akin to a bone blade, shimmering with a metallic luster.

The spike was taller than a man, and the Sword Shadow Clone stomped fiercely on the ground, shifting its figure to the left. But at the same moment, another similar spike shot up right below where the clone stood.
