Chapter 7: I died... again

Running forwards to slash at the wolf lunging at my neck I succeeded and slashed its neck.

But in the process tripped over my own foot.

"Woah!"

Instinctively tucking in my body rolled forwards and somehow phased through existence and the wolf bite.

Leaving the poor animal very confused.

Not that I cared when it was literally gunning for my life.

Stumbling back up I bumped right into a tree.

"What the Hell!"

Cursing out loud I kicked backwards and snapped the wolves jaw off its face.

"This is really difficult for some reason!"

Although I said that I knew exactly why that was the case.

When you grew up everyone always went through the learning phase and their bodies started to gain muscle memory allowing quick inputs.

That was why you would almost never see quick movements from children.

To compare.

They were in the middle of processing what each button did.

Except each button had a different reaction depending on the order pressed and there was at least a thousand of them.

Which was most probably why I was struggling.

My body which artificially gained the insane weapon proficiency of the beheaded just found itself needing to learn several more buttons.

And because of my newly enhanced body meant to do the most strenuous activities in either battle or survival.

My mind which seemed more inclined to more agility, dexterity and traveling based actions was very confused.

I was still surviving somehow.

Eyes looking at the four eyed twin tailed wolves I'll just call twin tailed wolves for now I counted them.

Besides the one I had kicked off the cliff and making another bleed out.

There were still at least five.

Which should be easy work according to the lore that just randomly pops into my mind every now and then when I see something.

But I wasn't the Beheaded and I wasn't used to things.

So I was literally fighting for my life.

"Gah!" Rolling backwards to dodge the gigantic maw filled to the brim with white teeth that wanted nothing but to make my skull a snack.

I decided to start thinking in the middle of battle.

Backing myself into a tree I ducked and brought my copper sword up which stabbed close the maw trying to make my head gain additional holes.

And then kicking the wolf with a spartan kick I was incredibly surprised when a wolf came from the side and bit onto my sword arm.

"Holy!-"

Letting go of my sword in surprise I punched the wolf biting my arm instinctively and just at that moment something just clicked.

'I don't have to stick to game logic!'

Because just as I punched the wolf unarmed and how I wasn't fighting on a side scroller but in a three dimensional terrain.

I realized that I shouldn't confine myself within game designs and instead think of how to apply my tools outside of the set landscape they were meant to be placed on.

And I would have gladly done so if not for my arm becoming not my arm anymore.

"Fu!--" A curse made itself halfway out of my mouth as the twin tailed wolves wanting to make me their dinner tried to bite me once again.

Roundhouse kicking the wolf it flew off into the air and jumping I kicked at the air and double jumped.

Grinning at being able to do every child's dream in reality I punched the flying wolf with my one mine arm.

Performing a flying combo as I somehow leveraged myself in the air and tornado kicked the twin tailed wolf.

I snapped its ribs causing its chest to cave in itself.

Grabbing the axe from within my inventory I threw it and lodged itself within a nearby twin tailed wolves head.

Quickly counting them all I saw that there was only one wolf left.

Grinning as my mind gradually got used to this body although forcefully I landed on the ground and dislodged the axe in the beasts skull.

Grinning my axe blade sunk neatly into the wolf head and split it's skull in half.

"Ha. ha. ha. ha hah ahahahaha" Seeing my final enemy die in front of me I finally collapsed.

The strain in my mind making me incredibly tired although it probably didn't take anything but a few minutes for the battle to begin.

Holding up my hand as the sensation of splitting flesh ran through my mind the fear of death slowly left me although it lingered like an old enemy.

Trembling insanely as if I was in the middle of an earthquake but nothing else was being affected I started to laugh.

It started as a small chuckle.

"ha. ha. ha."

Before gradually turning into an insanity filled full blown laughter.

"Ha ha Ha Ha Ha HaHaHA AHHAHAHHAHA!"

I don't know what I was feeling at the time as things got slightly blurry during that time all I knew was that I was definitely not mentally stable.

Breathing in deep shaky breaths I with trembling steps got back up and started to move with instinct.

Picking up both my sword and axe and putting them into my inventory I instinctively grabbed my arm from the ground.

And placed it onto the bleeding stump where my arm once was.

Perhaps it was the piercing pain that gave me the wake up call that I needed.

But it was fucking painful.

"AaAGHHHH!" As the muscle tendons and fibers grew to reconnect each other and literally every single part was regrowing.

I was in the midst of agonizing pain.

So much so I couldn't think about anything else but it.

And after that agonizing pain was over I was left on the ground panting and gasping for air as sweat pooled around me.

Grunting with visible exertion I stiffly propped myself up the best I could.

Feeling my arms tremble in exertion I mentally noted, now that I was more mentally stable, that I should get used to my body.

Eyeing the twin tailed wolves I looked at their mangled bodies and was in awe.

Of myself.

"I did that?"

Speaking aloud, I marveled at the corpses, I couldn't find out how effective my actions were except for instinctively knowing they were now dead.

But now that I wasn't stressed and could actually pay attention to my surroundings.

I could effectively see how much damage I did.

Out of the seven wolves.

One was most definitely dead as it flew off a cliff.

Another had its jaw kicked off and its belly split.

The third had a sword turn its head into a kebab as the blade ripped it off.

The fourth had an axe wound lodged in its brain as well.

The fifth had been beaten up by none other than me until the point of unrecognition.

The sixth was the one that took my arm in the first place and had an axe split its skull.

And the seventh...

Where was the seventh?

Feeling the sharp teeth bite at my skull I realized I forgot about the seventh wolf.

I died.
