Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Jay was oblivious to the commotion he had caused among the island's people. His hunger consumed him entirely, and he needed to satisfy it. Setting the box down, he decided to prepare his meal. With a gentle breath of fire, he roasted the goat for a moment before gulping it down in one swift motion. Not a single bone was left behind; he devoured every bit of it.

However, his hunger still gnawed at him, and he sought out another prey. The idea of fishing in the sea crossed his mind. So, he buried the box inside a pit he created with his claw and concealed it from view. Then, he took to the skies and flew out over the sea, on the lookout for his next meal.

He soon detected the presence of a massive whale floating on the surface, basking in the sun. Jay wasted no time and used his enormous claw to snatch the whale from the sea. Carrying it back to where he had rested earlier, he applied a bit of heat to the whale and devoured it hungrily. An hour later, only bones remained, and Jay settled down near the hidden dragon eggs.

As Jay lay near the dragon eggs, he suddenly sensed the approach of heartbeats. Turning his massive head, he saw a group of young people, each holding a long spear, cautiously drawing near with trembling hands. Jay hadn't realized he had settled on an island inhabited by the Naathi people.

These young islanders had likely never encountered a creature like him before. Fear was evident in their eyes as they cautiously approached, their spears at the ready. Jay, not wanting to provoke them, remained lying down, attempting to show that he meant no harm.

To the astonishment of all, one brave young man among them mustered the courage to approach Jay without using his spear. With a sense of wonder and excitement, he reached out his hand to touch the magnificent beast. His boldness inspired his friends, who joined him in approaching Jay.

However, when Jay lifted his head slightly, it sent a shiver of fear through the onlookers, causing them to take a step back. The young man who had come closest nearly stumbled in his nervousness.

Jay observed the young man for a moment before settling back down. This time, the young man refrained from attempting any daring feats and instead, he began to talk to Jay. Jay stared at him with open eyes, though he couldn't comprehend the words they were speaking.

But then, something strange happened. Jay started to understand the young man's intentions, not through their language but through some other form of communication. It became clear that the young man had a kind and gentle nature and that he wished to soar through the sky like Jay did.

As time passed, more youngsters gathered around Jay, though they didn't dare to touch him. Jay found it fascinating that these brave people approached him with such courage. He realized they were saying "Naath," a word that grabbed his attention. It dawned on him that he had ended up on the island of Naath with the Naathi people, a realization that left him both surprised and intrigued.

Days passed, and Jay found life in Naath to be rather pleasant, especially as a dragon. Unlike when he was a human, he didn't need to eat as frequently, but when hunger struck, he required large quantities of food to satisfy his appetite.

As time went by, Jay became the center of attention for the people of Naath, from the young children to the elderly. The kids treated him like a living toy, joyfully playing around him, while the elders approached him with curiosity, trying to understand this colossal and enigmatic creature.

Even though the Naathi people refrained from eating meat, they made special efforts to bring offerings of birds, goats, and other mysterious creatures to Jay as a tribute. They began to believe that Jay was sent by their deity, the Lord of Harmony, who they believed had created the entire universe and everything in it. They saw Jay as a guardian sent to protect them.
