Chapter 37: NOT ACCEPTING ANY BITCHINESS

Terrence was called to dinner after a few hours. He was in a great mood.

"Did anything happen, Terrence?" Tiana looked at Terrence with curiosity. After days, this was the only time that Terrence showed up to them with a smile on his face.

"Nothing, Mom," Terrence uttered as he approached the table.

He kissed her mother on the cheeks before taking a seat. Currently, there are only 2 of them at the dining table.

"Where is Dad? And Abigail?" He asked.

When Tiana heard Terrence's question, she looked at him.

"Your Dad is on the way home already. He just went to have a drink with his co-workers. Your sister, on the other hand, is in the room." Tiana sighed. "She said she doesn't want to eat with you."

"So, she's still mad?" Terrence questioned, even though the answer was already evident.

Tiana nodded. "Why can't you just support your sister and say yes? You know that she really wanted this," she uttered in a low voice.

Tiana couldn't understand why Terrence was acting that way. After days, this was the only time she was able to ask him properly about it.

It slipped on her mind, as she was more focused on making peace between her two children.

"I'm just worried, Mother. You know that Abigail is not used to that." Terrence uttered. "And I do not feel that good about the conditions that they set. It seems suspicious to me."

Tiana chuckled. "Terrence, your sister is already old. She's turning 18 next year. Some parents even encouraged their kids to leave the house by that time." She pointed out. "And maybe you're just overthinking. The government wouldn't do those kinds of things. They are here to help us."

"I really hope too, Mom." Terrence only replied. He took a deep breath.

"Maybe just talk to your sister once again. You two should sincerely talk to each other and discuss it. You're already old, and so is your sister. Don't fight like kids, just like what the two of you did days ago," Tiana reprimanded.

She was put under a lot of stress because of her kids. She thought that they had grown up already, but as people say, people will still be kids even after they're old already.

"Yes, Mom," Terrence nodded. He glanced over at his parents' room, where Abigail was currently staying.

A deep sigh escaped from his lips. Maybe it was really time to talk to Abigail about this matter. He decided to be open about the topic.

Now, he was willing to hear Abigail's side as well.

'Was I too harsh on her?' Terrence thought about it. However, he was just worried about Abigail. What's more, what she said triggered something in him.

Tiana touched Terrence's hands. "I do understand your side, too, Terrence. I know that you did that because you genuinely care for your sister. But your sister doesn't see it that way." She explained it more.

Tiana truly understood where Terrence's words came from. It was an eye-opening thing for her, too. She didn't think of that when she heard the conditions and terms that they must follow.

Even though the government had been ignoring their kind for so long, Tiana thought that this was already the opportunity they gave to them; she realized that after years and decades of service, the government didn't do anything that would harm the people.

However, she doesn't want to sound one-sided or as if she was favoring one of her kids. She had already scolded Abigail about what had happened as well.

"I know," Terrence slowly nodded. "No worries, I'll talk to her later." He assured his mother.

Tiana smiled at Terrence. She nodded before laughing shortly. "Let's eat now. The food will get cold."

Tiana and Terrence ate peacefully. When they were done, Terrence offered to help with the dishes.

"Just go talk to your sister now, Terrence. I'm sure she has been meaning to do that but is just shy." Tiana uttered as she declined his offer.

"Alright," Terrence uttered in a low voice before he walked away.

Terrence breathed deeply as his feet stopped in front of the room's door. He knocked on the door before saying something.

"Abigail, are you here? Let's talk."

Terrence heard no response from the inside of the room. He sighed once again. It seems like Abigail wanted to give him the silent treatment even up to this moment.

Terrence couldn't understand it. Why is it that when women were annoyed or mad, they give silent treatment instead of talking about the problem?

"I'll enter the room then," Terrence said in a loud voice so that Abigail would hear it from the inside.

Terrence waited a few seconds to see if there would be any answer, but since there was none, he proceeded to go inside.

Opening the door, Terrence's eyes widened as he docked down to dodge the pillow flying his way. He glared at the person who threw it at him.

"Abigail!"

Abigail rolled her eyes. She sat down and looked at Terrence. "What are you doing here, brother?" she asked sarcastically.

Terrence looked at Abigail. "We need to talk about your scholarship." He stated straightforwardly.

Abigail scoffed as she looked at Terrence. "What's more to talk about that?" she raised her brows and stared at Terrence.

"We need to talk about it to come to an agreement," Terrence answered back. Even though he was annoyed by how Abigail talked to him, he remained calm.

Abigail rolled her eyes. "What will I get with that? I'm already close to becoming an adult. I don't need your opinion. Soon, I can do whatever I want."

"So?" Terrence asked.

Abigail's eyes widened when she heard Terrence's voice filled with coldness. She thought that by this, her brother wouldn't be able to take it and would just agree to whatever she said.

"You're still 17, so you're basically still a child. We will talk about it and will come to an agreement afterwards. I will not accept any bitchiness from you," Terrence uttered.

Terrence's patience was still wearing thin.
