As the meeting progressed, Mr. Qin found himself preoccupied with thoughts of Stacy. His attention wavered from the discussions, his fingers fiddling with his phone anxiously, anticipating a call or message from her.

Ever since her discharge from the hospital, she hadn't contacted him, leaving him restless and eager to connect.

Unable to contain his worry any longer, towards the end of the meeting, Mr. Qin's apprehension peaked, and he finally decided to call Stacy. Yet, his heart clenched at the sound of her crying on the other end of the line.

His mind raced, conjuring various possibilities for her tears, instantly thinking of her tumultuous past with her ex-fiancé.

A surge of protectiveness overcame him. The mere thought that someone might have caused her distress ignited a fierce determination within Mr. Qin.
