"Sh! You're making too much noise. Be light on your feet. Are you pregnant or what?" complained the fat innkeeper's wife, Mrs. Harris.

"Me?!" said Elvira, perplexed. The ground vibrated where that woman's feet touched. She had gained so much weight in less than a year. Now, Elvira wasn't someone who enjoyed fat-shaming people, but that woman wasn't less of a delusional bully.

"Excuse me. I'm not pregnant. It would help if you fixed the stairs. It's producing so much unnecessary noise," said Elvira calmly. If the innkeeper's wife wasn't leading her to someone who could be her sister, Leona, she would have given her a piece of her mind.

"I would fix the stairs if I had the money for it. The rooms neighboring the disruptive customer's loud wailing and crying are empty. No one wants to stay close to her," the woman snarled.
