Nix tried to calm his raging anger, but the stubborn, careless woman still stared at him as if she had done nothing wrong, making his jaw tick.

"Get inside now!" Nix commanded after using his jacket to cover the girl. Kitanna picked up her sword and bolted out of the place running inside the palace.

Nix noticed from the corner of his eyes someone else creeping away. It was the queen.

"Queen Larel?" Nix called, his voice still carrying a hint of anger.

Larel didn't know why, but this particular guard caused shivers to run down her spine with the way he spoke. She turned to look at him, but she couldn't hold onto the intensity of the gaze. Larel looked away.

"You allowed this?" Nix asked. He knew there was little anyone could do to stop Kitanna; she was a strong-headed female. But they shouldn't have patronized her to start with.
