Chapter 3: A dungeon gate

A few days passed and Eamon's daily routine changed silently. Right after he wakes up he checks his world which he named Eldoria.

After inspecting and experimenting in Eldoria for a few days he finally learned some new things that were really important.

One of them was how WE is gained. World Essence gets created every time a being is born or dies.

However, you also gain a small amount of WE daily for every living being, of course, the stronger it is, the more essence you get.

That is why it is dangerous to let dominant species die out since they give you the most passive WE daily. They also don't reproduce so much so it's better to keep them safe.

Eamon opened his Creator's system interface and checked up on his current world essence.

[World's Essence: 186

Number of Demi-humans: 101 ]

Eamon has been saving his WE so that he can experiment with it when creating artifacts. He intends to sell some of the artifacts he makes using WE as they could fetch a higher price.

He quickly switched into Creator's mode and took a look at his world which has developed quite a lot. After Syrn gained control over both of the villages he let a road be built so that they could transfer things easier.

The problem was that although Syrn was quite smart compared to others in Eldoria he still wasn't smart enough to create any weapon or similar tools.

Compared to Syrn who could at least use a sword somewhat effectively other Demi-humans were quite stupid. You could say they had around 60IQ in human terms and this made many things difficult to implement for Syrn.

Suddenly, Eamon got an idea. "System, how much does it cost to improve intelligence for a whole race?"

[A whole race improvement costs much more than an individual. If you wanted to improve the intelligence of Demi-humans it would take 145 WE. That is considering only an extremely minor improvement that is barely obvious.]

'That is quite costly, I might consider it in the future but not right now.' Thought Eamon.

Even though it would improve intelligence overall such minor improvements wouldn't make real changes to the world thus effectively wasting it.

Eamon left the Creator's mode as he went to his shop. He quietly turned the sign on the shop open and sat in his chair starting to prepare materials.

He decided that since he still had some spare materials from Kate it would be a waste to not use them. Since Kate uses a crossbow and she might come for another batch of arrows he thought he could practice a little.

He picked up the leftover materials from before and decided to experiment. First, he would try to imbue the materials with WE first and then assemble everything together.

And in the second experiment, he would do it the other way around. First, assemble and then imbue as a whole.

So, he took the tooth of a Lua Snake an F-grade monster that has deadly poison, and carefully imbued the tooth with WE.

When he created the Artifact for Syrn he was in his own world where the system did the hardest part for him gently guiding him so that he could not mess it up. But now that he was outside of his world he had to rely solely on himself to complete the imbuing process.

Eamon slowly guided the WE to connect to every part of the tooth making sure to not use too much but just enough power.

However, the tooth still broke. Or more like shattered, Eamon didn't know when to stop properly so he overstepped what the tooth could withstand and it broke.

Thankfully imbuing such little materials drains an insignificant amount of WE so he doesn't have to worry that he will run out of WE.

After a few shattered teeth, Eamon finally managed to imbue one successfully. He continues with other materials.

Soon he found out that different sizes, shapes, and materials could hold different amounts of WE so it was quite hard to guess when to stop. After around 20 minutes of continuous failings, Eamon finally managed to imbue one whole arrow.

Now he just went on the job of assembling which took around 1 minute and he was done.

He picked up his masterpiece and started observing it from a close distance. What surprised Eamon was that a System's window opened.

[Durable arrow, Grade: F+

Description: A durable arrow made from a tooth of a Grade-F monster Lua Snake. It seems imbued with unknown energy that makes it more durable and sharp. All together assembled effectively by a beginner crafter.]

This was not an interface from a Creator's system but an analysis from a system that every awakener has.

The only time the system made an analysis on an item he made was when it had particularly great materials or was a part of a set.

Eamon noticed that the system doesn't recognize his world's essence which might be a good thing since he intends to sell this stuff.

He then went on assembling a complete arrow but imbuing it after he had assembled the whole arrow.

[Well-made arrow, Grade: F

Description: Well-assembled arrow made from a tooth of a Grade-F monster Lua Snake. It seems to be more durable than a normal arrow.]

'Although both arrows cost me the same amount of WE they took different times to make, however, the quality is different as well.'

[2 Grade-F arrows made. +5 Experience in crafting]

Eamon now had an awestruck expression on his face, his progress in crafting never appeared like a system message.

Once Eamon had a major breakthrough or perfected a technique his mastery would increase automatically. This was something completely new and never heard of someone having a similar experience as him.

He decided that if he had free time he would make arrows using the first method, resulting in better quality items.

Since there were no customers at the moment he decided that he would keep making the arrows until someone came.

After making 20 arrows Eamon slowly got the hang of it and it started being much easier and faster.

After he checked his Stats panel he realized that even though he was ignoring the system messages about his experience gains he still leveled up his crafting.

And all that training actually allowed him to raise some of his stat points like intelligence and dexterity.

The bell rang as someone opened the door to his shop. An older guy with a beard walked in.

He had a blue jacket that was flailing behind him. He had a stern expression obviously not happy. He came to Eamon and started talking without even looking Eamon in the eyes.

"Do you have arrows?" Said the guy indifferently.

Eamon wasn't happy with his behavior since it was quite rude to say it like that but he responded like normal anyway.

"Of course I do, I just completed these. 4 dollars for each arrow. I got 22 arrows like these in total. That will be 88 dollars."

Eamon did a quick math without any nonsense.

"Let me try." Responded the guy taking one arrow from Eamon's hand.

He took a long bow that somehow hid behind his back and pulled as back as he could. He put the arrow like he would put if he was shooting but didn't shoot.

A few seconds later after some silence, the guy said.

"That's a nice arrow." He remarked. He took all the arrows and quickly left after paying.

'Weird guy.' Eamon thought. But then he remembered something else that he had to do.

'Creator's system' Eamon called.

[Creator's System

Eldoria:

World's Essence: 178

World size: Space crack. (Click to upgrade. -150 WE)

Number of Demi-humans: 101

[Press here to go into Creator's mode]

]

He wanted to upgrade his world size since yesterday when this option showed up, but he wanted to have a reserve of WE if an emergency happened. But now since he has some leftover WE he decided that it was time to expand.

[Creator's System

Eldoria:

World's Essence: 28

World size: Miniature world.

Number of Demi-humans: 101

]

After upgrading his world from Space Crack to Miniature World Eamon felt some changes happen inside his body and mind.

He could feel a stream of liquid evaporating from inside him. He could notice the loss of the World's essence happening in real-time.

However, he could also feel that his mind cleared up a little as he felt a little more free but also felt more control over the remaining WE.

He quickly went into Eldoria to take a look at the changes.

Now a familiar experience of cold water surrounding him could be felt again as his perspective changed and he saw the massive changes it had on the world.

Before the whole world was a plain and a hill. Just enough for two villages to live just enough.

But now there seemed to be a few more forests, hills, and even rivers. You could say that the world expanded more than 10 times.

Eamon was overjoyed, he was already worried about the space Demu-humans had and that they could not have any more people since it would become too crowded, but this solved this problem perfectly.

However, when Eamon focused more on the world as a whole he could feel something like threads connecting each place, each rock, each creature. It felt almost like with the expansion and stabilization of the world real laws started appearing by themselves.

Eamon didn't think that it was a bad thing, on the contrary, it was a good thing as he now felt more in control of his world.

[Congraulations host for expanding your world for the first time! Keep up the good work.

Elementary laws awareness +30XP]

Eamon was surprised at seeing his experience in Elementary law awareness rise since he never had any skill like this in the first place. But guessed he might have just got it.

Eamon slowly went to the corner of his world since he wanted to try something. He felt that if he pulled on the thread with enough force they would break.

He was curious about what would happen then.

He started concentrating on touching one of these threads and started pulling.

There was not much resistance, after a few seconds the thread tore apart. Instead of the thread, there seemed a black space enveloping that missing space.

The black space started covering progressively more space and even tearing some other threads close nearby. This shocked Eamon since he couldn't understand what was happening.

The black space stopped getting bigger when it was the size of an adult. Eamon realized soon enough what he had done.

'A dungeon gate!'
